We have stayed at several Hampton Inn locations with no real problems.  This one is a mess.  They tried to charge for parking even after I showed the man at the desk my phone with their website saying they have FREE parking.  The guy said I could talk to the manager sometime between 8 and 5 tomorrow, like I’m going to hang around to talk to her.  I insisted he call her and she said corporate required they charge (not true) but allowed him to remove the charge.  It wasn’t much money but they shouldn’t advertise it’s free and then charge.  The bathroom floor is dirty, the refrigerator doesn’t cool, and the tv, sound and picture , are both distorted.  This Hampton Inn is also more money than others we’ve stayed at.   Crazy.   Won’t be back to this one.

My husband and I stayed here recently and yes, it is a typical Hampton Inn, however, with just a few correction/tweaks, it could be excellent.

Pros:  The bed was very comfortable, lobby was clean, and the employees were friendly.  I love the zero products they use and the decor was very nice - not to mention our room was a very nice size (quite roomy)!  I also loved the pull out shelves in both the main room and the bathroom.

Cons:  We were in room 303 and the toilet flushing sounded like a jet taking off. I’m not kidding. The door to the closet wouldn’t close and several of the outlets weren’t working.  Lastly, to be indelicate, but our bed squeaked, and made horrible noises if you “moved on it”.

Could’ve been great, but it was just OK!

Hotel is in a nice quiet location, away from the busy main road. There is ample parking but they do charge a parking fee which seems to be a scam of some sorts. 

Desk clerk was helpful and friendly at check in. Acknowledge us as diamond members and thanked us for choosing Hilton.

Room appeared to be clean even though the sheets barely stayed on the bed. It appeared to have recently been updated, although on the very cheap side. Very amateur workmanship.
The shampoo dispenser was empty. I did not realize this until I was in the shower. This is the second Hampton that this has happened to us at. 
At check out I informed the clerk that the shampoo was empty and that they really need to train housekeeping to check those things. The clerk said well you should have called, we would have brought some up to you. That sounds good but I am not getting out of the shower, drying off, getting dressed, waiting who knows how long for someone to bring shampoo, then starting my shower over again after that.

Good location, poor hotel

They try and charge every guest $3.87 per night for parking even though they do not even ask you if you parked a car with them or give you anything to put in the window of your car. I did not even have a car and they charged me and tried to tell me that I had to pay for the upkeep of the parking lot. 

Scam Parking fee

Good location near most everything in the small town of Troy, AL.  Everyone was friendly and very helpful.  Pool was clean and for an older hotel, it looked good and smelled fresh.  Could probably use some minor updates but overall, good stay and the staff were amazing!

Came to Troy for a family reunion. First day the pool was filthy. This issue was corrected . Had a mouse running around  our room. Maintenance said there was nothing they could do. 

We arrived on Friday, left Saturday after the family picnic. Did not get a refund for Saturday night.

My family and I have been long term Hampton/Hilton customers.   We always target Hampton hotels when traveling.   We booked a room at the Troy University Hampton Inn in late May for a stay a month later in late June.  48 hours before our reservation we received a call from the Hampton Area Manager, Kim.  Kim stated that a mistake was made and our rate was about to increase nearly $100 in total due to an incorrect discount rate being applied a month prior during the initial reservation.  I understand mistakes happen, but as long term Hampton customers, I would expect the “Area Manager” to correct the situation appropriately.  Unfortunately, Kim offered us the most unprofessional conversation I’ve experience in my life.  Rude, demeaning and aggressive are the best adjectives to describe how we were treated, 48 hours before our check in.  At the end of the conversation, we were told by Kim that she has the authority to cancel our reservations involuntarily, which is what she did.  Years of loyalty to Hampton/Hilton has been tarnished by one unprofessional Area Manager, Kim.   We will no longer be using this Hampton location, or any others that fall in the jurisdiction of the tyrant we spoke to.  I highly recommend staying at a different hotel in town, you may be treated as customers instead of a moneybag, like Kim treated us.

Area Manager Lost Long Term Customers

Absolutely horrible experience. We made a prepaid reservation for our daughter who was traveling to Florida. Before making the reservation we called the hotel to ensure that she would be able to check in and were more told that it was fine if she was at least 18.  When they arrived, a different clerk was on duty and would not let them check in. Both my husband and I called the hotel and customer service attempting to resolve the issue. The hotel was completely uncaring. The clerk valued the policy more than the safety of our daughter  who ended up spending the night in her car at a rest area.  I would never recommend this hotel.  We were up worrying the entire night. 

Horrible experience/no compassion staff.

Stayed here with family for multiple nights.  We were in town for a wedding.  The hotel suite room we stayed in was very spacious.  The drawback was the lack of room service.  The bath "towels" were small and not very absorbent.  When asked for a room refresh, which the in room signage clearly states they will do, all we received was a swap of our existing used towels for a fresh set.  They wouldn't even come to the room unless we were staying more than 4 nights.  Hilton will definitely hear from me.

This room was just what we wanted and expected.  A suite with 2 very comfortable queen beds and a separate room (with its own large TV) for our teen grandchild.  Large bathroom and vanity area.  Breakfast was excellent.
Only drawback was a problem with the plumbing on the floor above us.  When someone flushed their toilet, it sounded like a jackhammer was breaking through the ceiling.  But we just figured it out and still got a good night's sleep (not too many people up at night, thank goodness).  There is a Ruby Tuesday restaurant just up the road and, even with it being New Year's Eve, our dinner was delivered quickly so we didn't have to go back out on the road to dine in or even get pickup.
