Recently returned from 4 night stay with GB Tours.  There were 2 further coach parties staying here, and I would estimate the guest average age c70. I believe the rooms varied greatly from room to room. My review relates to the single room 117.

Pros:
Great location on the sea front overlooking south beach. A few minutes walk to the town centre. The staff were excellent. Hotel exceptionally clean. Plenty of hot water, good sized bathroom, & good water pressure in the shower. All meals were waiter service. Standard breakfast offering - cereal, fruit juice, full breakfast, toast etc. Entertainment each evening, whilst of a similar genre, all the singers were good, albeit a little dated. Drink priced very reasonably.

Cons:
A little dated & in need of some TLC . My room was exceptionally small - bed, single wardrobe, desk (reminded me of student accommodation). It was located just above the kitchen/ bar area, and there was a very large flue outlet just below the window that came on about 5.30 am every day. couple with a lot of banging in the kitchen. I would recommend bringing earplugs. Shower cubicle very small, as was the bath towel (barely covered my modesty!) The biggest problem was the dining room. They had approx 120 guest staying & we were packed in like sardines. Staff couldn't get between the tables to serve you, so dishes were passed along the table. I'm not sure how we could have evacuated the room in case of an emergency.  The food was very traditional & not particularly to my taste,  and certainly not home cooked.  The noise level in was unbearable.

Outside bar on the sea front  and Exceptionally clean but that was it. I read the reviews on it being dated and rooms being small, but think more 80s care home. Staff tried to be friendly but I'm guessing the numerous passive aggressive notices around the building keep them on their toes. 
Tiny room, only opening window was a fan light that you had to stand on a bed side cabinet (no chair, wouldn't fit) to open then the dodgy heavy blind covered it so no air. Had to ask for a fan even though it was march. 
Really did expect Basil Faulty to appear. Booked through booking.com but added an extra night by phone. Turned up and it hadn't been booked. Was initially offered one room then would've had to check out the next day then recheck in at 3 to another room. Thankfully they did see the issue and got me in one room. As I said extremely clean, but if you want a relaxing few days as a solo traveller, don't stay here.

Hotel dated staff fantastic helpful and happy.... but the room let it down for me dated cold although the sea view was amazing.... feel sorry for owners as a lot of money has to be spent on refurbishment to make this a come back to stay not for me had we booked in as a couple we would have left

Friendly but dated

Booked as three couple for rugby weekend. Beautiful location although no car park with hotel. Breakfast was lovely and staff very helpful and cheerful,  however hotel is very tired. Each couple paid the same price for sty of two nights but rooms were noticeably  different! Our fiends had much larger room, larger bed and larger bathroom. The bed in ours was on an obvious slant as the floor was uneven  and we had to sleep other way around in bed which seemed the better option! Decor and furnishings extremely basic. Think had we been just us we would have asked to be moved but as three couples just tolerated the situation. Singer/entertainment on Saturday night was very good.

Faulty  Clarence Towers!

This is a really friendly hotel. staff, Bedroom, and entertainment all very good.
Nothing was too much trouble. 
The hotel was very clean and our bedroom, nice and warm. We had a lovely seaview.
Hubert who has worked for the hotel for more than fifty years was very kind and kept everyone entertained with his knowledge of the area and worked hard.
Would certainly stay at the Clarence Hotel again.

A wonderful experience 

The receptionist  and the crew were welcoming. The bed the room was so clean . The attendants were so friendly and served in time. The trainers at the gym were so supportive. The conference room was well equipped. I was served nice meal by Ms Fortunate, an ever smiling lady😊

Awesome experience 

Fusty damp smelling, drab and dreary place. Brown grouting in bathrooms. Stains on furniture and carpets. Booked a half-board Coach trip. Food very poor! No quality ! Rice was swimming in water on my plate. Horrible! Sponge pudding burned and in tasteless custard! Expensive and extremely disappointing! Tenby was amazing though.

Never again!!

NEGATIVES.::  The room was not as I would of expected for the amount we paid.The free.    Wi-Fi was very poor, could not even stream Facebook or YouTube videos without constant buffering. I would say this definitely needs to be upgraded. The TV was not very modern and the signal to it was poor 
POSITIVES ::  The Bar and Entertainment were very good as was the location of the hotel offering fantastic sea views from our room and very close to town centre. 
Would not stay again

NOT AS EXPECTED. NEEDS SOME UPDATES 

Didn't stay in the hotel but stopped for a drink in their outside bar. The barman there was extremely rude and made us feel very unwelcome. I noticed he also made a remark about the dog water bowl being empty to another customer but didn't bother to refill it.

Lovely hotel  fantastic room non sea view friendly staff,great entertainment lovely breakfast only one thing we didn’t have evening meal as no chef but plenty of places to eat in town i would definitely go to Clarence House hotel again   We thoroughly  enjoyed our stay
