My Stay at Holborn Hotel  Thurso

I had lovely Dinner at Holborn last Friday.Fresh and tasty local fish and chips.Staff so helpful and caring. We took a table in the garden due to lovely weather. You can’t wish anything better.Smile faces around, Thank you 😊 

Friday’s Dinner

Had a one night stay at the hotel whilst doing a solo tour of the region .. Hotel probably does need some money spent on it for a bit of a facelift; however I found my single room adequate for my needs & the breakfast was fine with plenty of choice.
It is very central to town, a few minutes walk from the Railway Station & the beach.
The hotel has a resturant attached but I cannot comment as I did not use it.

Hotel fine for single traveller ..

I cannot begin to thank the staff here enough. Everyone was lovely, helpful and so kind.
The hotel itself was great. Bar and dining areas are , I would say, fairly recently done up and look good. Clean and slick.
Bedrooms were clean and tidy and totally functional. 
We ate in both the restaurant and bar and the food was great in both.
Breakfast was well cooked and scottish too.
I loved it and hope to get back soon.


Short break in Thurso

Excellent hotel, friendly welcoming staff on arrival, room very clean and comfortable, shower very good.
Evening meal one of the best I’ve tasted fresh monkfish in lovely sauce and fresh veg, the full breakfast in the morning was amazing especially the local sourced black pudding it’s so yummy. 
We experienced a wonderful stay in this hotel all the staff were very helpful and friendly we will definitely be back to this hotel and highly recommend others going here for a stay over.

Wonderful hotel staff and food 

We spent one night in Thurso on our road trip and we were delighted with our experience at this hotel. Very friendly home, breakfast at the top and good recommendations for dinner in the neighborhood.

Nice experience for a stopover in Thurso

Didn't stay in hotel just had evening meal in the bar.
To be honest it was tasteless and warm and served by a grumpy male waiter.
The fish was soggy and warm, the goujons must have come from a cheap supermarket.

Very disappointing

The hotel was very small but equipped with everything else (shower, hair dryer, TV, thermostat... very useful!) and all in all clean. Scottish breakfast with the usual toast, eggs, bacon, sausages and beans, and then coffee and juices. Good service. There is a small reserved parking lot with three (3!) car seats in front of the entrance.

Central position

Went into the Holborn for lunch with my friends. Asked if I could possibly have the Burger with sweet potato fries instead of chips.  Reasonable request I thought.   So the waitress said she’d need to check with the chef and returned  & I was told ‘the chef said they can’t do that but you can have a side of sweet potato fries along with your burger & chips’!!!  What?  Hardly a ridiculous ask I’d say.  Very Disappointing.

Chef needs to relax and flex a little

Stayed in a family room for one night. We arrived at 5pm but we were not greeted by anyone instead we had a phone call earlier in the day to say our key would be left at reception. 
Our room was clean but the bathroom was very small with no shelf to to put anything on and you had to sit at an angle on the toilet to avoid your knees hitting the basin.
The bed was comfortable but we only had one pillow each and no spares in the room and nobody at reception to ask.
We didnt have an evening meal as the restaurant was closed.
We had breakfast which was very nice, with cereal and juice or a full cooked breakfast, some fresh fruit would of been a nice option. The breakfast chef was friendly and welcoming.
This hotel was a good option for an overnight stay.
