The carvery is absolute exceptional and of the highest quality. Sharon who works there is a complete asset and made me feel extraordinarily welcome.  Colin, the owner, has time for everyone and runs the whole enterprise at the highest level.  The building itself has no competitor locally and you feel you have stepped back in time.  You are guaranteed to come away wanting to return as soon as possible.

The Cornishman exemplifies the history and magic behind Tintagel. Full of character of a bygone era.

I had the Mackerel which was so delicious, the rest of the family had cod and chips which they said was great. Atmosphere and staff were lovely. The position  in Tintagel is great, we will be back next year.

Lunch

Stayed here for two nights. Wish it had been longer.  Centrally located.  Ample free parking. Very friendly warm and welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The whole place was spotlessly clean.  Breakfasts were very filling.  The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again.

Outstanding stay!

Stayed in Tintagel for a few nights Came here for a few meals which was great. Staff friendly, with a tasty menu. Cosy atmosphere with a variety of beers. Pay for your food, sit, eat, leave. Definitely would recommend 

Great place to eat and drink

Cheers for the Custard Creams Mush! Couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. Great Location, friendly people,  good food and comfortable rooms. Made working away that bit easier so thanks to all the staff

Very busy at lunchtime but pretty empty in the evenings.  Almost as if they feel like running a pub is not worth the reward.  Although there are three bars, one is usually shut for serving drinks.  The nights that I was in Tintagel the pub shut at about 9pm. Lights off, the lot!

Why bother?

Really good fish, but most importantly fish cooked on point!
Pie was fab, but so often the fish is over cooked but not here, thank you!
Good selection of local beers....from Tintagel Brewery.

Good food and beer...

Stopped in here on the way out of the amazing Titantagel castle. 
Food was amazing quality and huge portions! Staff were extremely friendly, and dogs are welcome throughout the entire pub!
Can totally recommend the pasty and chips, the fish and chips, and the burgers!!

Yum!

An absolutely outstanding fish and chips at this beautiful restaurant. Extremely good value for money and wonderful service make this restaurant stand out above others in the town. 

We looked around the town for somewhere to eat and a lot of places seemed very expensive for a quick lunch but this place had a brilliant offer on for fish and chips. And it was arguably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.

The best place to eat in Tintagel village

We initially were going to book the "posh" hotel on the clifftop, but after having a look round and at their rooms we decided to look elsewhere and we were so glad that we did.
On a blustery March day as we approached The Cornishman Inn the smell of woodsmsoke from the open fire wafted through the air, drawing us to the very pretty facade so we decided to pop in and have a look around.
We walked in, with no booking at all to enquire if any rooms were available and were instantly greeted by three very lovely, welcoming ladies and offered a room.
The room was decorated to a lovely standard in neutral shades and had lots of little touches that were really lovely and was so much nicer than the so called posh hotel! A variety of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits was set up on a tray.
The room was a little chilly when we first went in but the lovely Jo switched on the heater as soon as she showed us in to our room and it heated up in minutes, if we had booked in advance I am sure the heater would have been switched on for us.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean and although the shower head looked as if it wouldn't be that powerful as it wasn't that big, it was fantastic, really powerful, easy to adjust the temperature and just heavenly on a chilly winter day. The towels were a really good size and just right and very clean.
The mattress is a sprung mattress and was a little on the firmer side for me, but that is just personal preference, maybe an extra mattress topper would be good for those that like a slightly softer mattress so you get the best of both worlds, this is not a criticism though, my husband loved it and was out like a light.
We were only staying one night and decided to try out the food and wow, we were so pleased that we did, it was absolutely gorgeous! We both opted for the rib eye steak and like it Medium Rare, it was cooked to perfection and the flavour was beautiful, you could taste that it was good quality meat. The skin on chips were perfectly cooked, the salad crisp and fresh and my allergies catered for flawlessly, without being made to feel difficult. We will definitely stay there again, but will also go out of our way for a meal as it would be worth it! I have a variety of allergies including gluten, onions, garlic and they are more than happy to accomodate.
The cooked breakfast, included in the price, was also good quality and cooked beautifully, there was also a selection of fruit juices, cerals, fruit and tea and coffee. There is also a huge garden that in the warmer months would be perfect, with or without children!! There is a really good selection of gin and rum, including some really delicious local ones!
The Cornishman Inn was a truly fantastic experience for us, the staff were amazing and really added to the whole experience. Forget booking anywhere else, if you want a truly fabulous stay book a room now, or turn up unexpectedly like we did!!
