We came on New Year’s Eve booked a table for 8 in the name of Bartlett and were told it was in the restaurant table 37,when we arrived we were taken to another room where there was no one else eating from the restaurant menu.We were very disappointed and have emailed you about our experience and you have not bothered to reply.
We have all been coming to this restaurant for many years,so we were very disappointed to have been treated this way,when our friends were booked and they were in the restaurant.

Disappointed New Year’s Eve

I did not get there until 20:30 but was given a warm welcome and assured that I could have a meal even at that time. My room was cosy, practical and impeccably clean. I had just one course for dinner which was delicious pheasant breast.
The room had all I needed with a good selection of snacks and an excxellent Nespresso machine, not to mention the supremely comforatble bed.
The only slight irritant was that the computer was not working at check-in, but came to life shortly after, and at check-out the next morning neither of the 2 handheld credit card readers was working.
Otherwise it was a perfect stay - I would highly recommend.

Very comfortable stay

Great place, has everything and Antino is a great waiter. Wifi and TV reception could be better but I know this didn’t happen for others. Checking in and out was seemless.  Good food and a great beer/ale selection.

Nice cosy place

Everyone of the team were helpful and kind especially the landlady Ruthie .lovely bedroom and ensuite all immaculately clean, home from 🏡  and we vould take our dog who had a little dog basket for him to sleep in too ! Food was great,  as was the food service , cannot fault anything ,will be regulars now thank you 

Outstanding stay

This is a lovely hotel, comfortable room, lovely powerful shower, nice toiletries and great staff. In room facilities are very good. A lovely busy bar area snd great restaurant. Lots of onsite parking available and close to town centre.  Although a busy venue the rooms are quiet in the evening.

Christmas with family

This was a typical pub restaurant with a limited choice.   Burgers were ok but there was also fish and chips, some curries, some pasta but no haute cuisine.   The staff were all friendly but mostly young and inexperienced. I tried to order a Jonnie Walker black label but that was not available.  I asked what scotch whisky was available and was given a choice of Jamieson’s Jack Daniels, Bushmills and Bells.  I ordered a glass of wine!

We spent the night there, which was clean and more than adequate for the price.  The water was not hot enough to bath and the tv remote needed new batteries, but we managed.

What is a gastro pub?

Went here with a friend for lunch today. Everything was faultless & I can't speak highly enough of this place. The setting, the beautiful gardens & flowers, the coffee, the food, the service, the staff all fantastic! The staff were all polite, friendly, professional & so helpful. A lovely place with great food & lovely staff. Couldn't ask for more. Will go again soon, its that good.

Worthy of 10 stars!!

Not impressed with the food and price you have to pay for it. Dirty glasses and no service finesse. No concept of what a seasonal veg is and honestly, very disappointing £80 we have spent.
I do not recommend if you appreciate  good food and service.

Awful food and lack of personality!

Looking for somewhere to eat while driving around the area, we found this pub. Had a delicious meal here served by lovely, friendly staff. It was so great that we came the following evening. The fish stew was fabulous but different on the two nights. The first night it was stuffed full of mussels and scallops, the second night no scalp that we noticed and only 6 mussels. But it was still delicious and worth it. 
It’s obviously a really popular place, seems to be particularly  so with young work men.

Only came for food.

Unfortunately this was a very mediocre experience - one that no-one expected given the high reviews. The vegetarian options were lacking. The service was exceptionally slow. In 3 hours, we only got asked for our drinks order twice despite many of us sitting with empty glasses for over 40 minutes. Some of the food was good e.g. the pie, but the fish dish had very slimy skin and undercooked potatoes.
Staff were trying but management shouldn't book so many tables if they don't have the staff.

Underwhelmed.
