What a disgrace!!!!! I booked in online, and when I got there they wouldn't let me me in, it's not accommodation for people like me she said. Discrimination!!! This place should be shut down. It shouldn't matter about how I look. 
I wouldn't even give this a star.

Admittedly, the 89-room hotel is on the older side, however, it is clean, tidy and of great value as a base. My room had tea and coffee, kettle, and hairdryer and was comfortable aside from the feel of a Laura Ashley catalogue, I didn't have much to complain about, and the areas of issue were over-looked (cobwebs behind the TV, shower took a bit to get it at an ideal temperature) especially as it was excellent value for money at £28 a night, which included breakfast (2 star) there is secure parking if requested, but I would imagine in high season this would be at a premium.

Most of the hotel staff were nice and there was nightly entertainment from local performers, along with a bar, games room and other facilities.
The air fresheners were a little overpowering in the hallway, maybe the skylights could do with a clean and maybe an information pack in each room detailing the best of Torquay, and hotel facilities, especially for the first-time traveller to the area.

I heard at breakfast that people were being asked about evening meal options, I didn't know if this was an option for B&B residents at an extra cost and what that cost would be.

Lastly, Wi-Fi didn't work in my room, my TV in the room had an option to receive Netflix but due to the lack of reach, it wouldn’t work.

Breakfast, slightly confused about the times, was told 9-10 am, but they were serving from 8:30, the service was quick, with a choice of cereals, orange juice, Tea, Coffee, toast, and a cooked full English or pouched egg. Couldn't get my head around why they used small plates for the cooked breakfast and could have been warmer. However, was pleased with the portion size and overall, again good value.



Good value and comfortable for a 2-star hotel.

Great value hotel, clean room, slight problem with the shower but was resolved very quickly. Staff all friendly and helpful. Food good quality and portion sizes. Free secure parking is a bonus. Well positioned, approx. 10 minute walk to the seafront and 5 minute walk to town. Entertainment each evening. Reasonable bar prices. Would stay here again.

Great value hotel

Just got back from Ashley court absolutely amazing 5 days what a welcome such a friendly hotel food lovely plenty of choice every evening breakfast was lovely rooms are basic but very clean entertainment absolutely amazing day and night got to thank Neil and Ryan for entertaining us every day party week was amazing can't wait to go back next year for party week but will also be booking for other trips to this hotel thank you for a lovely stay

Amazing hotel

Me and my family stayed over Christmas this wasn’t our first trip here we also came last year good food as always friendly waitress rooms could do with updating but didn’t ruin our stay presents handed out on Christmas Day big room as there was Four of us Very welcoming and friendly Thankyou for a lovely Christmas Ashley Court.

Christmas 2023 review 

Stayed for 5 days with my friend.  Arrived and was thought it was Fawlty Towers. Turned out a bit worse.   Cases taken to our room on 2nd floor.  No lift on our side of the hotel.   Room very large and basic but acceptable.  Bathroom not acceptable.  Leak after what was the shower. A bad leak. Was looked at twice. Not fixed, too bigger job.   We just used towels on it.  Shower dribbled out. No way could you wash hair with it.  Had to hold the shower head with your hand to get any water on you .  Getting shower gel off you was a nightmare.   You had to turn the hot water on in the sink 6 mins before hot came out in the bath/shower.   Beds so comfortable.  By he way our room was not cleaned the whole time we were there. Michelle the so called cleaner did put clean bag in our bin every day. Didn't tidy beds. Did nothing.    The first star I took off was for the horrible receptionist. Face like thunder.    Very unfriendly.  Also the serving staff except for Angel who's lovely and can't be more helpful.   The second star is for the general state of the hotel.   Maybe a bit harsh doing that.  The food was excellent especially for me as I think I was the only vegetarian in the restaurant.  Served hot and enjoyed every meal and a big plate full.   The nightly entertainment was brilliant.  Couldn't have been more impressed.   Anyone staying in number 75 make sure the leak is fixed as an awful musty smell if you leave the fan off for long.  Nice bunch of people we met

Good and not so good 

Stayed here recently, waitress Jackie very polite and friendly, meal options good, housekeeping good beds made every morning and everything replaced on tea tray. Whole hotel could do with updating. 1 issue my party found was other guests stood by the front door smoking when there's a sign stating no smoking.

Not bad for a 2*

The good points were that the staff were nice, and the meals were good, otherwise I would have given them only 1 star.  The hotel is old, jaded, and in desperate need of refurbishment.  The room we had was accessed via very narrow corridors (could hardly walk AND carry your bags to it), and loads and loads, and loads of stairs going both up and down.  The hand rails were sticky and dirty and we did not like to touch them.  The room was a double room, but tiny, with a small on-suite shower and toilet, and the sink was in the bedroom!  With the furniture around, it was very difficult to move around in the tiny room.  The cleaner only emptied the bins, did not make the beds or do any cleaning that we could see.  Did not even replace the spare loo roll.  There were rooms either side, above and below, and noises from each of them could be heard through the thin walls.  There was seldom anyone behind reception,  They wanted everything paid for in cash, did not take credit cards.  I would not go here again.

Do not use this hotel!

When you open the front door the smell hits u hard. Then the receptionist takes the wind out of you because of her shear miserable face. The bloke with her was rude and arrogant from the start. Then the rooms. My word what a tip yard. Awful decor from the 70s that was dirty and worn. In the morning you can’t even sit down for breakfast 3 minutes early. The staff shouted over tables sharing there misery to who would listen. Rice crispies where stale. The breakfast was was so awful. Powdered scrambled egg and bacon so tough I thought I was eating the soles from my shoes. In the end we where crying with laughter at how bad everything was. The pool wasn’t open which is why we booked this yard of sadness. The poor old coach people didn’t look happy. No laughing or atmosphere. It was like waiting to go to a death camp. 
If u go take some matches and do me a favour burn the fu#### down.

Well let’s remember this is a 2 star hotel, but it’s a bloody good 2 star hotel, in fact worthy in my opinion of a 3 star. The room we had 76 was very clean and tidy, and was serviced brilliantly every day of our stay. The staff were very good, especially the lady in charge of the restaurant, couldn’t have been more helpful or obliging. The food was once again excellent for a 2 star. This hotel also boasted an outdoor swimming pool, and a games room, plus quiet rooms, and non drinking rooms. Bar prices were indeed reasonable, and the 4 nights of our stay we enjoyed good entertainment. So well done “Just Go” our coach holiday operator for using this hotel, and well done the manager for having a good friendly team both behind the bar, and throughout the hotel.
