It may be that a laissez fait approach to hotel management is preferred by some, but in a similar way to other reviewers, we were very disappointed and found the Police House not as advertised or as generally acceptable, even for a short stay. Booked several weeks in advance, on arrival our concerns were initially raised on seeing a SOLD sign outside the property. During a heavy rainstorm we walked around the building, knocked on the locked back door, and then discovered the front door was unlocked and accessible. Reluctant to enter, it was clear that no-one was there, so a telephone call was made to the `owner' (?), and a voice mail left asking for a return call and instructions. After waiting in the hallway for some time, having not received a reply and checking this was the right property (!), we decided to find our room. We eventually discovered a room apparently meant for our stay, but contact at this point from the owner would have been a basic courtesy. In fact, a return call was never received, or indeed, there was no appearance from the owner throughout our stay. Consequently, no  explanations were offered about use of the facilities, or notably, the means to report broken equipment or the absence of advertised services. In short, there was no communication offered or feed back possible. No drinking water was provided within the bedroom, there was no personal washing facilities of any sort within the room other than a shared bathroom, and without any frills, the furnishings could be described as basic. Although a large shared lounge area was available for use, there was no instructions about use of equipment, and the room itself generally seemed as if it was rarely used. The TV within our bedroom (as that is all it was) had poor or no signal, making it inoperable. The shower in the shared bathroom, our only washing facility, did not appear to be functioning, therefore only the very large corner bath was available for use. Fortunately, we are fairly agile people, but this could have been most inconvenient for someone with mobility problems. By far the most important issue, however, was that there appeared to be no system to explain fire safety, with no fire doors and several locked exit doors. The only people encountered in the Police House during our entire stay also commented on the absence and lack of communication with the owner/host (?), and the mystifying style of management. As noted in the more positive reviews, the description of an owner, `so friendly and helpful', would have been advantageous for everyone in any mood or level of helpfulness! Unfortunately, despite their displayed certificates, our impression of their hospitality and management skills leaves a lot to be desired. Although the potential of the building itself is considerable, and it is located in a village, `Spittal', which refers to the Medieval link with pilgrimage to St David's, the owner seems to have taken on an organisational style to that of a hostel. Maybe the SOLD sign really says it all, but as the property is still being advertised, potential customers should be aware of the issues pertaining to the facilities and communication with the owner, which may impact on a stay.

Disappointing

We were a party of 9 plus a pooch , we had a great time , 4 comfortable and well appointed bedrooms plus a loft annexe , the house was soo well equipped with everything You could possibly need plus a great dishwasher to make life easier , Haverfordwest , Fishguard st David’s and white sands all nearby and well worth a visit , the owner was extremely helpful and explained how to use the oven etc and control the heating , before leaving us to explore , we will definitely return , THANK YOU

Christmas at the old police house

Booked as a very last minute stay visiting a family member in hospital. Owner was so friendly and helpful and I loved my stay here. Amazing building and location. Not many people can say they’ve stayed in the old Police House (for good reasons!).  Great pub a minute down the road too. Very comfy bed, fabulous shower and tea and coffee facilities. Felt super safe in the village. Plenty of parking at the property and the other people staying downstairs were very considerate. Very quiet village and felt very at home here. Would definitely stay again based on my experience. Very clean and Covid-safe and the owner was lovely.

A self catering house (not sure if you can 'cook dinner' ?) But there is a pub over the road that does pretty good food !  

There are 3 rooms downstairs and apparently some rooms upstairs. All neat, clean, very functional. Share bathroom, with a great shower .... there is also a spa bath ... I didn't try it ! Kitchen, lounge .... would be a great place if you were travelling with a group !

Great place to stay

Relaxed holiday house in a quiet village where the kids can run around outside. Room was clean, wifi was reliable and there's a clean, modern kitchen to prepare your own food. Ideal, low budget stopover for a night.

Great value stay in a tranquil location

Arrived at the house on check in day at our given time to find that they were still cleaning it! We were met by the owner who wasn’t the most welcoming of people. 
House looks nice at first glance but when you look closer, you’ll see that’s not the case. 
Damp, bubbling paint in a couple of the rooms, rubbish left from previous guests (which we were asked to dispose of) cobwebs, spiders and thick layers of dust in most places. Toilet in main bathroom was filthy and I had to clean it before it could be used. House sleeps 10 but only has enough seating for 8. DVD player supplied didn’t work. Windows were filthy and obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Some if the furniture was broken and rickety and some of the mattresses were too small for the bed frames!
Off road parking is a tight squeeze through a small gap and can only comfortably fit 3 cars. We arrived back one day to find someone had come to mow the lawn and parked their vehicle at the property, so one of our party had to park on the main road. This wasn’t a problem until one of the neighbours stormed into the property uninvited and rudely asked us to move our car as it was outside her property, despite it being on a public road with no parking restrictions!!
(It’s a bit like Royston Vasey) 
It’s a shame as the house itself is lovely and very spacious, it’s just in need of a serious deep clean and a little TLC. 
Area is nice though, with a nice park and a lovely little pub across the road and it’s in a good location for getting to nearby attractions. 

Disappointed 

Gaina, our host, was very hospitable and helpful. 
The facilities are basic, but perfectly comfortable and clean. 
The location is delightful, set in the village of Spittle, in the heart of beautiful Pembrokeshire. 
This is a good little low budget place to stay, accessible to all the local attractions. 

Comfortable and cosy

So, if you want to go to a dirty place for your holiday, definitely we recommend to stay at the Old Police House . The house was full of dust, sheets with stains and spider webs everywhere. And worst thing is that when we tried to complain about all this, we've been accused of being rude. I am sorry but I don't think that anyone who pays to stay at a cottage would accept all the dirt and sheets that have not been ironed. And when we complained about the sheets the owner Geina said: "what's wrong with them, they just have not been ironed". Well, how should I know in this case if they have been washed at all. And on top of that she wanted us to leave the minute we have started complaining. And when we asked her if she really want us to leave when we have kids and coming from 250 miles away she confidently confirmed her answer. 
Overall the house need really deep cleaning, some furniture should be bined and the owner Miss Geina should take a course how to provide customer service. Would not recommend this guest house to anyone.

Dirty Old police house

If I could give -5stars I would have done so. The house need desperately deep cleaning and the owner doesn't know how to handle complaints. We've been treated as people who went there for free (and not to mention we have paid double for new years). Absolute disrespect for the fact that we were with kids. The agency that we done the booking helpless as well. Never going back.

Absolutely horribly treated from owner and very dirty place

We were 3 families and we have booked it for 4 nights from the 29th of Dec' 19 till 2nd of Jan'20. We had kids with us range from 3 to 7. 

When we have arrived at the Old Police House, we were really in shock, there was no one to welcome us, the property was not cleaned from the previous people who rented it , hair on the beddings (dirty, not washed). You can check all the images that i will attache. Then we have called the owner, I have explain her that I will not sleep in this sheets. I went to Tesco to buy new ones. There was not another option to go back to London, 4.30 h drive with kids , really ? and we wanted to spend NYE together , leaving the property ? NOT an option. We decided to stay as long as the lady come and clean the sheets. The lights in the bathroom were not working. 

After I have called Gaina, she has sent a 16 year old girl Ginna to clean the house , really 16 year-old ??? Another BIG joke. I have told the girl that she won't be able to finish it by NYE and no point to stay. Then she left. 

Gaina Morgan came in 3 hours time , ready for scandal , I said "hello", and she started the convo with , why you saying it is dirty here .... woww of course it is, You can see the images and video. She then said that if we don't like to stay we HAVE to LEAVE the house , with all the kids ..... Such a horrible person, no heart , this woman is a real MONSTER. I prefer to say nothing else about this person and I will just upload the images. Also my kids had skin rash after the stay. We have booked it with SykesCottages , again another big JOKE they have offered us £50 OFF from our next stay .... and we have paid them £1050 for these 4 nights. 

Thank you tripadvisor for the possibility to prevent other people to be disappointed with their stay in Wales.
