The landlady is a lovely woman, very eccentric and funny and keeps a great place, the food is delicious and the wait was minimal, the barmaid sofhia is very attentive and do their job brilliantly, 10/10 would come again and recommend to anyone visiting ulverston.

Best bar & restaurant on the furness peninsula

People need exceptional staff like Arron, who is a constant presence at The Kings Arms. Robinson should take pride in having someone of his caliber. Arron's outstanding service, attentiveness, and friendly demeanor create a positive atmosphere for patrons. Unfortunately, our recent visit was overshadowed by the behavior of the landlady, Claire, who was visibly intoxicated and abusive to customers. Despite the challenging situation, Arron handled it admirably, showcasing professionalism and genuine concern for the patrons. His dedication reflects positively on the establishment, and Robinson should appreciate and value such exemplary staff members for the overall betterment of The Kings Arms. In fact, we would only consider returning to The Kings Arms to experience Arron's exceptional service again."

Warning landlady

We went to the Rose and Crown for Sunday lunch, but they were fully booked up. So we went to the empty Kings Arms. At the bar we asked if they were serving food. The reply was a curt “Only doing pies”. I had to ask what pies. So we ordered two pies. Whilst we were waiting for our food there were no staff at the bar, and six lads came in for drinks. No bar staff, but the owner, who has been mentioned in previous reviews for her drinking habits, was sat at a table chatting with her friends, taking no notice or care that there were customers. The lads waited, then left and went to the Rose and Crown. The one pie came with a “the cutlery is in the basket”. There was one knife and fork. Ten minutes later the other pie came. We had to ask for cutlery. I have seen other pubs spiral into closure. This one is well on its way.

Don’t eat here

Let me start by saying, if you gave a pub to a couple of teenagers to run, this is what it would be like. 
The owners tend to just get hammered every evening, play loud music and have a sing song till about 2:30pm with no regard to people staying I their below average rooms.
There's two types of review on here, the type from people who have intentionally gone out on the lash and think it's great, and the others who pay for a room, and think it's hell.
No real private bathrooms, everybody shares, the wording is cleverly structured online to make you think this isn't the case.
The floor boards are so thin and ubove the bar, so you have to hear the whole knee's up escalating downstairs.
The rooms....aaaarrr..the rooms, ultra basic, there's 2 star, but then there's marmite star, not very clean, not very secure with the locks, and I just got this weird feeling like there'd been a bad murder sometime in the past.
The staff...obviously zero job satisfaction you can tell, as the general rudeness and attitude to anyone who isn't impressed.
There is no breakfast offered as you'd expect from a b&b, as all the staff are nursing hangovers and wouldn't be up that early anyway.
I now understand why they take your money upfront, so you don't turn around and walk out.
Finally....after zero sleep due to two nights (Wednesday & Thursday) hearing the staff drinking all the inventory, I left the murder scene building at 4:30am and bought another train ticket so I could get home as soon as possible and hug my Mrs.
....don't do it, unless you want to just get drunk and sing along to 'now that's what I don't call music' all night long.

Would have been better off in a tent

A very nice pub with an authentic Thai menu available from 3.30pm. Restaurant Thai food in a relaxed pub setting which is very unusual. Lovely courtyard, friendly staff and a must visit for both drinks and food, be it before the Thai menu starts as other food is great too or when the Thai food becomes available which is exceptional.

Firstly, I would hope this was human error, as £ 8 for a pint of cider is extortionate and central London prices. Otherwise I would be wary of buying a pint in The Kings Arms if this is what they are charging.

Meals are OK, though, and £10-12 is probably average in many places these days. Bought an omelette, chips and beans for £12 as the pub was on the brunch menu and it was reasonable enough and cooked well. However, apart from the shock at the bar, The Kings Arms is nothing memorable and I only visited the pub as the other eateries in Ulverston were very busy and I had a limited amount of parking time.

Called in here for lunch and what a pleasant surprise . A lovely courtyard through the back. Lovely sunny spot but shaded from the wind. 
Had a tasty lunch that was very reasonably priced. Lovely and clean and we found the the staff to be really friendly. 
There was a good choice on the lunch menu and  Dogs are welcome too.

Was surprised to read the reviews on here as wwe have just come back from a lovely peaceful overnight stay on a Saturday night. The room was clean and fresh and the shared bathroom was adequate for the price. Overall good price and room especially with the free parking in a prime area. Hope to stay again.  

Pleasant stay

Lovely staff very friendly, great choice of Beer and food. Christmas Eve was very special here and the staff even took the time to make sure you we're " alright"  😀.Bit slow at refunding the room deposit but otherwise would definitely recommend.

Christmas Eve 

Usually a pretty decent place to go on quiet nights. Booked late November by phone for a meal in December. We arrived to find our booking was not logged . The barman sorted us a table and then moved us to another when it was available which was good. The pizzas were ordered but took ages to arrive and then two at a time with a 5-10 minutes interval. One spicy veggie pizza had all the ingredients on it but the other looked like it had been made by someone else. All the time we were there someone was arranging a bingo night around us but that was not a real problem but it felt like we were in their way. 
Lastly we were charged for two extra pizzas which was a bit careless but looking at reviews not unique to us. Big town pubs like this need to show attention to detail if they want to keep custom and gain a good reputation. If a spoons opened in Ulverston they would all be in trouble. Don't just take the money, be the best in town.
