What a gem we found nestled in the countryside about a mile from Ulverston.

Steve and Linda were amazing hosts, chatty, and informative without being intrusive. We could come and go as we pleased, making it a real 'home from home'

The house is charming, with gorgeous original features and a host of Victorian antiquities. 

The breakfast was amazing - we chose the full English, which set us up perfectly for the day. There is also an option to have a packed lunch made for you for the next day,  perfect if you're planning on setting out for a days walking!

The room was cozy, immaculately clean and tidy, with all you need for a peaceful night's sleep. The shower room had everything you needed, including shower gel and hand-wash, and the shower was the  perfect temperature (you'd be amazed how many we've come across that aren't!)

There are places to eat locally that can be reached by foot - we chose the Red Lion, a proper 'local' which had very good pub grub and excellent beer!

We would highly recommend a stay here and it will certainly be our first choice when we're in the area again!

A little gem in the southern lakes

Pomono surpassed all our expectations. It is THE PERFECT stay when visiting the Lake District, totally in keeping with its surroundings. The location is perfect, the house is perfect, the rooms, the hosts, the breakfast, the atmosphere .... all perfect!

Pomono is ideally situated for visiting all areas of the Lake District, with everything about 30-60mins away from the house, including the less-populated West Coast. The house is easy to find and there is ample space for parking. The reception rooms are lovely proportions and the style of the cottage quintessentially 'Lake Districty'!

Rooms are beautifully aired and clean, warm and cosy, great WIFI and maps aplenty to use whilst there if you want a digital detox.

Breakfast is so lovely that my son is now a cooked breakfast convert and he loved having a specific time to eat, so much so, he set the table for us today and insisted we sit down together "to carry on our lovely holiday".

The hosts are the loveliest people and made us feel very welcome guests and we left feeling like we'd made two new friends who we won't ever forget.

Thank you both of you for making our first proper holiday in several years absolutely flawless!

A quintessential Lake District experience - skip the rest and book Pomona!

As we arrived, we saw a man leaning on a gate, he was wearing a filthy boiler suit and was laughing at my mother trying to park. The drive of the house was very small and I got out to help guide the car in, as this was happening  the man was shouting commands to my mother as well as saying sexist and womanising comments to me about how “some people can’t park” even though my mother is a qualified C+E driver. After the car was eventually parked post me having to guide the traffic of a fast moving A road as my mother reversed out into the middle, the man said to me “that’s my car there, the Citroen” meaning he could of moved his car out the whole time. To our much disappointment we found out that he was one of our two hosts!  

After reading all of the reviews of this B&B we were shocked with the experience and to the very end of out stay, as we were finishing off our breakfast and chatting to a fellow guest, we were rudely interrupted and bluntly told to leave as “visitors must be gone by 10(AM)” 

Most disappointed with our reception!

Rude hosts

Pomona

We stayed for two nights at Pomona B&B due to the booking at a Sam Smith pub chain hotel being cancelled. Oh boy, we’re so happy we did!

For an area that in August is so expensive to stay in this “wonderful” B&B was a perfect delight.

Parking is so easy, then a short walk to the front door passing the we’ll kept front lawn into the most delightful flagstone front hall. This whole house just ouses charm. The sitting room with its chesterfield furniture, the dining area within the room filled with antiques of yesteryear. 

Up the stairs passing an ingilnock window shows the age of the house plus the attention to detail of everything you see.

We stayed in the twin room with an on suite bathroom with floorboards that flowed into the bedroom. Like down stairs the light fittings were of Sherlock Holms eara only electric not gas. The servants bell pull was to turn on and off the antique lights. 
For those that need their USB all the plug sockets have them pre fitted. The owners have thought of everything. We were also glad there was no television in the rooms which would have completely spoilt the room.
The bedroom and other rooms were completely soundproof from the outside world so have no worries there.

Breakfast was just so well done. Fresh, hot, delicious. Nothing else to say!

This B&B is spotlessly clean and when you talk to the owners their running it pretty much carbon neutral!

Go folks you don’t know what your missing.

Just wonderful

Beautifully restored cottage with many original features. Very clean, quiet, comfortable, lovely room, very hot water and excellent shower. Steve made me very welcome. Really enjoyed my stay and hope to return.
Lovely countryside with views to the Coniston fells. Excellent pub and cafe a few minutes walk down the road.

Lovely friendly B&B

We stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. Checked in at 4pm and shown to our room the 'Cottage Room', absolutely beautiful, quaint room with 2 single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers plus tea & coffee facilities. Bathroom was modern but with an old fashioned twist and in keeping with the room/house.

Loved how the owners are reducing plastic waste and giving you the option to reuse your towels this saving on washing/energy.

Delicious cooked breakfast (pre-order the day before) with plenty of coffee, toast and juice. Close to Conniston. Couple of pubs within walking distance. 

Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely b & b with friendly hosts

My husband and I booked Pomona B&B as the location was perfect for visiting Ulverston Town, Coniston Lake, and surrounding areas of interest. It was also a short trip to the coastal route.

The house is absolutely stunning and Linda and Steve were the perfect hosts. We loved our themed room which was the Victorian room, and they have have taken great care with attention to detail with the decor, pictures, furniture, en-suite, etc. It was definitely to our taste. There are no Tv's in the room, which is a great idea, as the radio with the surroundings enables you to relax far more easily.

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, and the English breakfast was nice and clean. The crockery also matched the surroundings of the dining room, which was the traditional willow pattern design that took you back in time. They have really thought everything out. Due to COVID restrictions we had breakfast on our own, and it was served on time. You order in advance, which we decided to have the same every day to keep it simple.

We would like to thank Linda and Steve for making the start to our day and our stay in general, a very pleasant experience.

Fabulous Hosts ..... Fabulous Accomodation

We really enjoyed our time at Pomona. Linda & Steve were very welcoming and friendly, providing an excellent service. The location was perfect for us. The views around the cottage were fantastic and the place was very tidy and clean. Many interesting attractions are within easy reach from the place. Greatly recommended, with Thanks!

A lovely place & a great break!

What a lovely place to stay.
The House itself is lovely, it's got lots of Character. Keeping true to a Victorian style with period features but with all the facilities you need (Electric shower, double glazing, Tv, Wi-Fi, central heating etc..).
Steve and Linda are wonderfully attentive hosts, friendly and accommodating and always at hand should you need them. They can provide plenty of advice of walks in the Lakes and great places to eat and to top it all They also cook up a cracking breakfast in the morning! Lol 😁

Friendly and comfortable 

We really enjoyed out stay at Pomona B&B. Linda and Steve were very welcoming and helpful. Their recommendations of places to eat and things to see and do were great. They even gave us a great map of the area for our day road tripping about. Needed as Google maps was really not helpful in this area. 
We had a twin room with ensuite which was tastefully styled in keeping with the era of the house, while still providing all the mod cons. 
There were a number of breakfast options available and was very tasty.
