My wife and I stopped for lunch on the way to Worcester and we where so glad we did. The menu was varied and very reasonably priced the staff were excellent and could not do enough for us especially Karen. I had the cheese and ham sandwich with homemade onion jam and homemade skin on fried and my wife had the cheese and onion omelette with chips both were excellent. The atmosphere was lovely and as said previously the staff were excellent.

Marvelous lunch in Usk

A great stay overall from start to finish. A warm and friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere throughout my stay. Both evening meal and cooked breakfast were delicious! Staff also went the extra mile - thank you! Would definitely return in the future!

Excellent stay overall - highly recommend!

Stayed for one night, checked out early. My partner was upset by the attitude of the 'gentleman' who appeared to be in charge at reception; quite rotund and sporting a waistcoat, we thought for a minute that we had mistakingly gone to the Island of Sodor. When asked about mealtimes he was strangley sarcastic, bordering on rude; most off-putting. 

The staff in the evening were distant, not bothered, not much at all in the way of customer service, save for one- Oswald? who was friendly and welcoming and gave atmosphere to the otherwise quiet bar, dining area.

Evening meal was shop bought pate and desserts, steak over-cooked, over-priced and over-seasoned. Bar drinks are extortionate. Later we found a lovely pub in the square serving the same beer in much better condition for over a £1 pint less. No wonder it was packed and the Three Salmons was almost empty.

Bedroom was small, appeared to have been recently decorated (yuk), very noisy from the busy road just below, so hardly slept a wink, not good value.

Breakfast the next morning was the most basic of choices and probably the worst we have had in ages, no fruit, no buffet, hot food that had that stored for ages feel about it. Strange blue lighting made us feel like we were in a 'little mermaid theme' diner.

We made our excuses and left, stayed elsewhere for the rest of our break.

Odd, not good in any way.

We celebrated my big birthday with our family here recently , there were 17 of us and the food and service was excellent . We stayed in room 6 and it was very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean . Would recommend ! Perfect location for visiting Usk and surrounding areas.

Had a family dinner at the Salmon’s this evening.
Delighted with our evening, the welcome and service was excellent.
An excellent meal, good variety, well served. Portion sizes were great and the food was well cooked and presented.
Good value for money. Will definitely be returning especially now I know they are a dog friendly establishment.

Good food, good environment and great value

I went to a wedding there, food was amazing and so where the staff. The lack of wedding coordinator was very apparent as people didn't know where to be and when. Beds were far to soft and by far the worst mattress I have ever slept on, they definitely need to be changed for better quality mattresses. The rooms also need a little tlc as ours had a massive crack in the ceiling and I could fit my hand through the gap under the main door into the room.

Room For Improvement 

It's been years since I last stayed here and the old charm is still there. Yes it's dated but that's all part of what makes it what it is.
Staff were cheerful and helpful, always greeting with a smile.
Breakfast was perfect, with hardly any waiting time.
Hopefully won't be as long before we venture along to The Three Salmons again.


Ye Olde Charm.

We stayed in the annex across the road from main hotel building. Although spacious the room was very dated. On using the shower due to issue with screen the floor flooded and had to use towel to mop up. During the night more water patches appeared around the toilet and nearly slipped in early hours using it. Hole around light fitting, TV remote would not work and nowhere near enough plug outlets for two guests with two mobiles. Definitely not worth the price tag but was close to Usk castle where we had a wedding. My friend stopped in room next door and was also sub par l. Breakfast was lovely so a shame about the accomodation. 

Expensive considering the state of accomodation 

The staff at the Three Salmons are friendly and helpful. The bar/lounge and reception areas are bright, inviting, clean and  tidy. A few area where things may be improved. 

The room accommodation is a tired and could do with modernising. Also, we booked a Superior Room. My wife and I had room 7. If this was classed as a Superior Room, I dread to think how small and spartan furnished a standard room comprises. Sound proofing was another issue. With the room situated above the main road going through Usk, any sleep after about 0700 on Monday morning was out of the question. Perhaps modern double glazing instead of the dated secondary double glazing at present in place would help to solve this problem. Finally, the breakfast was adequate but the bacon was incinerated and almost inedible. Sausages were excellent and the eggs perfectly poached.

In the final analysis, you get what you pay for. At £130.00 a night for 2 for B & B it's just about right. Please accept my views as constructive comment and not as a complaint.

Friendly and helpful but could do better.

Wife and I stayed her for one night and we enjoyed the stay.

The room was very spacious and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, although both my wife and I were not fussed on the pillows as they were too high and firm for both of us, but each person has their own tastes and someone else might love them 

Staff were extremely polite and attentive

Bar and beer garden were very good.

We did not eat our evening meal here so cannot comment on the menu, but breakfast was lovely, especially the sausages.

We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area
