This was a Really nice place to stay, good food, service was really good. The owners were really nice, very happy to help. Couldn't ask for any more. 
We will definitely be back next year to stay again

Lovely 2 night stay for work, the bar staff and land lady were exceptional and the food was freshly made and of great quality. Room was comfy and clean.
Will definitely stay again if in the area!
Oh, and both your dogs were lovely!

Work stay

Decided to try out this quaint looking pub after the cafe we initially went to was extremely busy. The building is well maintained from the outside and welcoming looking…this is about where any positives come to an end. Menu extremely basic, lacking in choice and overpriced. 2 baguettes, side order of chips and waffle with ice cream ordered. Baguettes were over £7 each (just for a baguette, does not include a side of crisps / chips). Chips were extra at £4. Food took an age to arrive, basic fillings in the baguettes - nothing special at all considering the price charged. Measly portion of chips I can only liken to a cardboard texture. Waffle dried out and burnt. Food quality awful. I won’t be returning and would not recommend.

It’s a No from Me

I can't recommend this pub enough. The landlord and landlady were lovely. They were polite and made me very welcome to their pub. I have stayed here fir 7 nights in total over 2 weeks so I think I got a good feel of the place. The other staff working here are very polite and I think it was Tom who greeted me on my arrival was fantastic. Food was excellent and good quality. I see there was a couple of negative reviews recently and all I can say is ignore them and come here it's awesome.
I was here on a business trip so I didn't really get to fully explore the area but what I did see was beautiful. The river Usk is amazing.
Thank-you for my fantastic stay I will definitely stay here again when I come to the area.

Wonderful pub

Stopped here for some lunch after I’d been to the registry office was greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar who was very polite. I ordered my food and drink and went to sit outside in the beer garden. Food arrived and was delicious and the cold shandy went down a treat will definitely be back if I’m in the area

Lovely Lunch

Having read some of the other reviews I must say I don't recognise the place or the people described in them. I stayed for two nights mid week whist visiting a local site. I met at least 5 members of staff and all were friendly and helpful. I certainly didn't meet the angry lady referred to in some reviews. Yes the rooms are on the small side but plenty big enough to function as a bed room. The room was clean and furnished to an acceptable standard. Evening food was well cooked, hot and tasty, breakfast was as good as anywhere and trust me, I spend many days a year on the road. 
My only criticism would be that I couldn't connect to the free Internet in my room, but I soon resolved that by moving the laptop to the bar and enjoyed a pint whilst I worked. Problem solved.
Would I stay here again. Yes I would.

Quaint old pub in a central location

Me and my wife came here a few days ago. Started off ok whilst we enjoyed the busy atmosphere. Then it all started. I can only describe her as an evil moody cow of a landlady !! She was kicking people out for basically laughing too loud, and for people swearing ( it is a pub that’s the norm I thought) after seeing the way she behaved with the customers we went up town to only come across the people from the pub that got kicked out to really enjoy the rest of our evening. If you see an old blonde woman working turn around !!!!

Wow, where to start? I don’t review very often but the manner in which we were treated by the landlady demands that I warn potential customers who hotter to read this. 

Probably the worst pub experience I have ever had. The lady behind the bar was the rudest, most customer unfriendly landlady I have ever had the misfortune of coming across. We were a group of couples, numbering around 14 in total, and looking to enjoy an afternoon of drinks and pub pool. But the blonde witch behind the bar had other ideas for us, and because we complained she threw us all out. We proceeded to have a great night in Usk, enjoying the Glen yr Afon hotel bar/restaurant and the Mad Platter. I would highly recommend these two venues but would advise against venturing into the Cross Keys Inn at all costs

Don’t bother

We organised a weekend break with a group of 10 couples and while i have to say Usk is a very nice place indeed, the Cross Keys Inn and particularly the Landlady are the polar end of that experience, it was an awful experience.
When we arrived (around 2pm Saturday) there were a couple of locals in the pub which was fine and the place seemed very quiet, but then the sheer attitude and anonymosity shown by the Landlady was incredible. For context, all the couples are married and close to 40 so not party-going revellers but we were just trated ith poor service and contempt.
The straw that broke the camels back was when I lifted the pool table stlightly to try to release the white ball and she shouted at us. Would have completelty understood if she has asked us politely not to do this but the manner and tone in which she did this left us all in a bit of a shock to be honest!
Needless to say were promptly finished our drinks and lft to visi the Three Salmons Hotel and the Mad Platter both of which were excellent.
Stay away from this place!

Absolutely awful customer service

I really don't know where to start.
Food is the worst we have experienced,let's begin,the Topside of beef Sunday roast,overcooked cabbage,that still had its core,broccoli that was a pale green,overcooked,3 small roast potatoes,over salted boiled potatoes,I think the other item on the plate was supposed to be a Yorkshire pudding,hard to say and the piece de resistance was the gravy,one slice or two,it was that thick,the beef itself trying to think of something positive but I can't.Not to slate the whole meal but the peas were nice.
The cheese and crispy bacon loaded fries were normal chips not fries with melted cheese and bacon that was pink,yes it was cooked but definitely not crispy.
The sausage and onion baguette,nothing too exciting but the onions were lovely.
All in all absolutely dire,will never visit there again.
Just for good measure whilst we were sat waiting for the food a dog was wandering in and out of the kitchen maybe we should have seen the signs then but stupidly decided to stay.
£58.00 for a pile of dross.
