Pretty looking  pub with lovely warm atmosphere and friendly staff who made us and our little boy and dog feel very welcome and looked after.  Lovely way to spend an afternoon in the sunshine. 
Loved the resident dogs, basket meals and decor. 
Would love to return!

Beautiful pub

Excellent if you want a stay in a pub rather than a hotel, which is exactly what I was looking for. Friendly and efficient check in, the room was clean and comfortable if a little small and the shower was idiosyncratic to say the least, although once I had worked it out it was fine. The pub has a friendly, local, atmosphere with excellent beer and great food a little above the usual pub fare, although they do not currently serve breakfast, just a contintal offering in the room. No food Sunday nights, and shut altogether on Mondays, although residents get a front door key and the barman put me right about where else I could eat. Very dog friendly too, and seats outside in the square to watch the world go by. Highly recommended.

Great if you are looking for a pub to stay in

Table for four adults for lunch - drinks order taken quite promptly and 3 out of the 4 drinks arrived then food order taken :- when meals arrived, only 21 chips BETWEEN the FOUR meals and a tiny bowl of peas between the four meals- queried where forth drink and vegetables were- a while later, an equally tiny bowl of soggy courgette pieces(7), a couple of tiny cherry tomatoes and 3 minuscule potatoes, all allegedly “roasted” appeared - forth drink never arrived- lesson learnt was never to go back to Castle Hotel in USK and NEVER to recommend to anyone

Awful lunch

After reading a glowing report in a local newspaper about The Castle Inn I booked a table for a mid-week lunch. We weren't disppointed as the food was really very good indeed. The place has a traditional pub atmosphere and was very busy by 12:30, so booking a table is essential. The staff were very friendly and the prices more than reasonable. Well worth a visit!

Lovely pub

We recently visited friends who moved to Usk earlier in the year. After a brisk walk down last the prison, we arrived at their new home on the outskirts. It was charming, and there was a strong community feel about the location. They then offered lunch at the Castle, and after another appetite inducing yomp, we arrived there just alongside the town's open square. We were comfortable with the Covid stuff, and enjoyed a simple basket lunch in this recently refurbished hostelry. Good large open gardens at the rear, dog and mid friendly.

Top spot

We were well treated after the owner contacted us after I had left a review about a poor meal we had. I can now say that the owner did the right thing and that I was pleased with his response to our complaint. The meals in question were the Pensioners Wednesday deal which is very good value.

Stayed here for the weekend and had a lovely Welcome. Lovely lunch on  first day and superb evening meal. Hearty breakfast on Sunday morning. Clean comfy room and lovely friendly bar. 5 star ad we will be back soon

Excellent hotel

A group of us took advantage of a travel zoo voucher . We were made very welcome, the rooms clean and the public rooms were very quaint and interesting. The staff always greeted us with a smile . The evening meal was worthy of any 5 star hotel beautifully cooked and presented.

Very welcoming

We stayed here on a Travelzoo deal and were blown away by the value for money. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable and despite the pub being busy we slept well and were not disturbed by pub customers. The breakfast was one of the best presented breakfast we have seen and very good. My wife thoroughly enjoyed smoked kippers with poached egg and tomatoes and I had the traditional Welsh breakfast including excellent black pudding. Charlotte deserves top marks for her managing of this delightful little hotel/pub and we will be back again if we are in the area, god willing.

Little Gem

We booked a night at this hotel 7 days in advance and received confirmation of our booking.  One hour before check-in, the hotel rang to say they were overbooked and could not accommodate us.  They offered to put us in another local hotel, which wasn't to our liking.  As it was the Wales International Rugby weekend, all accommodation in Usk was taken.

I would like to make fellow Trip Advisor travellers aware of the situation we were put in by this hotel.  It isn't the first time this has happened, at our daughters wedding, they booked all the hotel rooms, only to find on the day that several guests were let down.

They need to tighten up on reservation bookings.
