PLEASE! PLEASE! AVOID! There are plenty of amazing B&B/Hotels near by!

READ THE BAD REVIEWS THATS THE TRUE EXPERIENCE

We we told of the Alton brook house from a friend who had been years ago. So I looked it up and really fell in love with the idea of staying in their folley!  At £250 for 2 nights, its not the cheapest option around for Alton towers, but hey ho, thought we would do something different than your average travel lodge!  
The first annoyance was that i didnt recieve any kind of confimration email with any details on, just a text saying it has been booked. I had to call again a few days before, as i was worried this wasnt enough.  i told them we wouldnt arrive till after 7 from alton towers, she said that was fine.
So on arrival, as othwers have said, no one around to greet us! Rang the doorbell 4 times. Tried the phone number too. No one to be seen and very un inviting for a first immpression!!!  After 15 mins of hanging around not knowing what to do, we did walk around to the folley and found the key hung in the door. (All very casual!!). Once in the lady did appear and very quickly said a few words on some basic info. At this point she said there is your breakfast...pointing to a loaf of bread, pastries, butter, juice and milk and cereal. We didnt have time to think of question this at this point.
On reflection later, i was a bit annoyed at the breakfast left in the room, as when i booked i had read all about going to a room for a full cooked breakfast. And this was part of my weekend away, to enjoy a breakfast cooked for me and my family!!  
I walked around to the house the next morning to see if i could find out about why we didnt have breakfast inside with others.... as we felt we had been "left" out there. Again no answer at door or phone!!!!!!
I left a msg on the answerphone to call me and she did (we were now out for the day). I expalined that my son didnt like pastries or cereal and i was confised as to why we didnt have cooked breakfasts...... shw said the folley was a self catering unit (thou this was NEVER mentioned at the time of booking or anywhere on their website!!)  i said ok fair enough, but we are low on butter could we please have more...she said yes, and i said any chance of some bacon for my son tomm. I was told to buy this myself!!!!! and she would reemberse .  I thought this was odd, ..i was expecting to hear of course we can give you some bacon, anything to make your stay better....but no...told to buy it myself!!   later back at the folley she did bring over the butter and asked if i had got the bacon, she asked how much and said she would bring the money over. She never did!!!!   
Its SUCH a shame as we loved the folley, it was so quaint and peaceful. But the customer interaction is zero and your made to feel a bit un welcome. 
Overal it didnt ruin our holiday, infact we had some real laughs about the whole senario, but not what we expected fgr that price!!!!!!!
On leaving I would normally go in to a reception, hand the key in say thank you etc, but this time we just left wirth the key in the door the way we had walked in.....

Alton brook  ;  Cut the grass outside the folley!!!! Was very overgrown , get some rackets that are not broken for the swingball, slighlty neaten the folley, and welcome your paying customers!!!!  Could be so much better with a few finer details!!!!

Folly is cozy, Clean but slighlty tired./ Check in and customer service is random!

So we arrived at Alton Brook House after a very long drive from the North East of Scotland... I got out of the car and rang on the reception buzzer THREE times and got no answer.  I walked back over to the holiday home to realise the key was actually within the door and all windows were open, at this point the door handle fell off! The appearance of the place is absolutely atrocious, cobwebs, fallen panels, skanky discoloured panels, dead plants, weeds and old dirty mop hanging about for good measure! 

I walked into the Mobile Home and it smelt like someone who smokes 60 a day had been living within here and it just didn’t have a nice feel about it.  I tried to connect to WiFi to let my family know I had arrived safely after the very long drive, but surprise surprise that didn’t work either. 

I thereafter began to get an allergy or something as I started sneezing, watery eyes, it could only be the fact the place looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned since 19 oatcake!! It was disgusting.

 My friend was about to cook some pizzas in the oven, she opened that up and that hadn’t been cleaned either, there was oil on the floor, cobwebs, dirty oven dish and just everything else you could possibly imagine! The plates were not the best of hygiene standards either. The curtains had stains on it and just generally minging! 

We attempted to call over to Alton Brook House, but the number on the website is incorrect and they have the correct number just stuck to the reception door, we found this and called over and asked for a oven tray (to put the pizza on) but my goodness that was like asking for £1000 in cash!!!! About 25 minutes later a male appeared at the door with something that goes in the oven, not an oven tray and we advised him of this. He didn’t look best pleased with having to walk back over and retrieve the correct item that’s for sure! 

The shower doesn’t even run correctly and doesn’t stay on the holder causing you to have to hold it whilst washing yourself, again another fault and pretty god damn inconvenient unless your octopus! Nevertheless we did have a swarm of pet fly friends, which were clearly attracted to the stench of the place! 

We put out a dirty bin and that was still there on our return from Alton Towers! 

We booked to stay here for three nights (stayed here last year and it was actually really fine) and not once have we been checked on, offered clean bedding or even clean towels! Total disgrace, the place should not even be open! It is not fit for human purpose! 

To conclude this review the highlight of my trip was leaving the mobile home at 0930 hours each morning to attend Alton Towers, knowing I do not have to return until almost bedtime! When I returned to the mobile home, I was re-traumatised by what can only be described as a HOLE! 

Thanks for having a working TV to allow ITV2 to work to get my Love Island fix!

Alton “Crook” House

We just returned from a four day cycling break in the Peak District and used Alton Brook House as our base. We stayed at  the Shepherds Folly and were not disappointed. The couple who received us were friendly and very helpful. The ingredients for breakfast are left for the guests to help themselves but it all worked out really well for us. The grounds are nice and the beds, bedlinen and towels comfortable. All in all a lovely stay!


Lovely four days

We stayed overnight after a long day travelling and on all the rides at Alton Towers. A quaint and pretty little gypsy style caravan. 2 of my my 3 children are teenagers and are over 6ft tall and I was worried there would be no room for us all (based on pics) but it was absolutely Perfect!  filled with crossiants, bread, muffins, eggs, milk, orange juice for the morning. 
We sat out at the picnic table for an alfresco breakfast in absolutely stunning weather. 
Excellent sleep, in cosy beds with everything we needed. 100% recommended. 
Will be staying again!

Lovely Little Chalet

As we are from vibrant city but reached here after Alton tower rides very tired .
Guy was very helpful and it’s very quiet place to stay and we really like this kind of accommodation. 
We had nice time seen from the window to sun rise at 5am in the morning. Fantastic view to see the sun rise in the morning at summer time.
