Nice to see that it changed hands.   Expensive, boring wine, nothing to write home about.  A boring standard food menu. 'Fish, chips and peas' nothing to 
talk about.  Friendly staff but expensive evening of poor value. don't mind paying extra if the food is good.

OK! -still a boring and very expensive menu

We needed somewhere local for a family dinner for a very large group - I called mid week and they were able to fit us in on the saturday evening (I don't recommend leaving it that late to book!). They were really accommodating, sending menus over so we could pre-order and dealing with lots of the 'slight alterations' our group had. 
When we arrived we had a lovely meal, quote from one of the teenagers "those chips were amazing, think they might be the best I've ever had"!  Lots of choice on the menu and everything was delicious.  They were great with bringing out birthday cake too.

My only very small gripe might be that we weren't asked for drinks and had to ask the staff to take a drinks order - and they didn't return for any further drinks.  It didn't matter, but they probably could have made more money from us if they'd done so.
All in all I would recommend the Old Vine and pleased to see it returning to it's former glory!

Lovely country pub with great food!

Had a great evening  with family and friends the staff were fantastic always with a smile and couldn't do enough and the food was delicious, the liver and bacon was the best I ever had and the puddings were homemade and so tasty,the chicken liver pate was amazing, love the chef coming out and asking how everything was as a proper chef does,  great country pub and would recommend

Great food and staff

We went for a family birthday meal, the staff were really helpful and huge credit to the chef who went out of their way to make chips from scratch for our son who has allergies which was over and above anything we've experienced elsewhere. We'll be back as the food was great!

Very accommodating for allergies

Went for an evening meal which was great!  Really good choice for GF and excellent service.  Food was prompt to arrive, tasty and attentive staff.  Especially enjoyed meeting Duncan!  Good value, plenty of parking, no negatives from us!

I would like to thank all the staff but Jess in particular for going the extra mile for our little gathering last evening….. it was no mean feat sorting us all out and the meals were very good. There was a small comment that the scouse stew was a little too liquid…soup like…but still tasty…. But it was a lovely evening…thank you x

Enjoyable and comfortable visit

My wife and I went for lunch here today. We had appetisers and a main each. The food was truly wonderful. I've included some photos, but in each case, we'd already eaten a bit, so anyone reading this needs to take that into account. Best food I've had anywhere for several years. AND the service was both friendly and speedy.

Brilliant in every respect

This pub has new management and has a steep hill to climb, courtesy of the previous tenant, in terms of bad reviews, I am local and after a dreadful couple of years of poor management I'm pleased to say we have our pub back!!!! My wife and I have now had two meals and several visits under our belts and we are both very happy to eat and drink here. If you had a bad experience here and vowed never to come back please give it another try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck to the new owners.

I had a wonderful time in this beautiful country pub that has been loving restored to its former glory. I heard that the place had been taken over by a new owner and decided to make the trip to enjoy dinner with friends. 

The place looks so much better than before and a clear sign of effort from the new team. The bar was busy as it was a Friday evening but we were served quickly and looked after by the bar staff. I ordered two meals, the fish and chips and BBQ chicken - I tried both and both were delicious. The new menu was extensive and I will be heading back to try the Sunday roast, which looks amazing on their Instagram, and I can't wait. 

Amazing restoration, wonderful atmosphere and beautiful food ... Well worth the visit!

My wife and I visited the Old Vine as heard it had been taken over again. We were glad we did as the Food and staff were excellent, very welcoming and we will definitely be back as live locally. I had the lamb shank and and my wife had the vegetarian pie both were delicious .
