I stayed two nights in the Crofton Arms last weekend while i had work in Leeds , I found the staff very pleasant and helpful , There is a bar / restaurant downstairs which is very handy as the hotel is a little out of town , The rooms are very warm and clean and well stocked with tea / coffee etc , The shower worked a treat and while most of the rooms were full i didn't hear a peep , All in all a pleasant relaxed stay and i've booked again this weekend as i have to return to Leeds to finish the job

little hotel just outside wakefield that has everything you need

A right sod to find, as there is no signposting at all, but it's at the back of Tamarind Indian Restaurant - you can use their car park as it's owned by the same people.

I paid £21.50 for my stay, the cheapest in the area as I was watching a game at Nostell Miners Welfare FC and going into Wakefield the next day. Rooms were clean and warm and size was OK. Service was reasonable and the shower was good and hot. Noise was OK, you could hear people next door occasionally, but it wouldn't keep you awake.

Downstairs was a decent Indian Restuarant and there was a bus stop right outside the hotel with a regukar service to the city of Wakefield

Good for the price

Stayed at this hotel for two nights recently.The good points are; free parking beside hotel,tea and coffee in the room,clean and the shower was hot.The bed was comfortable,the price was excellent and the host/locals were very friendly and helpful.There was free wifi in the hotel and a seperate entrance to the hotel rooms as well as the main entrance to the PH.The lager was very nice @£3 a pint of carling.
Area's for improvement are - the room was very small as it had a 2nd bed in it which was not required,the light quality in the room was very poor,a table for using a laptop would have been nice.No wardrobe space/hangers/drawers.The shower was very small/tight.When they open the kitchen it will be a big plus.Motion light needed outside the rooms as its dark.
I would return as it suited what i needed but i dont think alot of people would like the room i was in.

More Room Required

I should have known that this place would not be good due to the price.  Arrived and it looked as though it had been closed down. Checked in and although it said I could pay via card the odd staff member refused and said I had to pay cash.  Shown to room and was told that takeaway menus were available in the bar area as no food available.  Tried to order a glass of wine from the bar whilst I waited for takeaway to arrive - no wine! 
No hairdryer. No full length mirror. No hand towels. Door that did not lock properly. I did not see another guest during my stay.  It was priced at £17.10 but I guess people would refuse to pay more than that. Staff told me it was being refurbished.  I think they should close down until refurbishments have been completed! 
Takeaway suggested by staff - disgusting food!

THE TAMARIND.
I went to visit a family member who was staying there, and I was not impressed with this place. There was a kettle but no tea making facilities, no teacups as seen in other pics on here so we had to take teabags and coffee and a mug etc. 
There were 3 beds stacked against the wall by the window which made the room cramped and very unpleasant, and clearly a health an safety hazard. It was requested for the beds to be moved but they hadn't been moved. The person staying at the hotel had to go to hospital for a few days but prior to that he had accidently broken the lock on the door and was unable to keep it locked. Before leaving they had their personal belongings in the room and as I had gone to collect their belongings, it appeared one item had mysteriously disappeared  which was a large luxury winter blanket. I contacted the manager to ask about the whereabouts of the item who stated it was found outside. When I questioned what it was doing outside, the owner responded with "I don't know you tell me". I did not appreciate the rude tone, and I asked for it back and he had left it downstairs for us to collect. 
Overall it is not a place where I would be comfortable to stay.
