I go to the menai often, never have a bad experience going there. The staff are wonderful and the beer is so good. The ambience is good and had the Sunday lunch that was very nice. Thank you to all who work there 👍🏻

Always a pleasure coming here.

My single room was dirty, unhygienic and unsanitary.  The carpets were stained and unhoovered, the pillow was stained with hair on the pillow, the bathroom was disgusting with a dirty used toilet brush and used tissue in the bin, the twin room smelled sweaty, the beds stank of sweat, carpets dirty and stained, a padded stool in their room stained. As it was late at night when we arrived we couldnt find anywhere else.  One son slept in the car the other slept fully clothed with towels on the bed and pillow.  I stayed fully clothed sat up and didn't sleep at all.  Dirty place. Don't go. See photos.

Disgusting

Truly dire. Only went in for a drink. Had to shout of the bar man after 5 minutes of waiting for him to serve us, he was out in the back. The whole place needs decorating and cleaning. Would never stay here in the hotel. 

Awful place

Went here whilst we visited Mount Snowdon, very welcoming atmosphere and bar staff were incredible, very polite, my freind ordered a local IPA but did not like it, he was instantly allowed to change drink which was a nice touch. 

10/10 well worth it

This hotel needs an upgrade; decor tired, bathroom & bedroom furniture grubby, as was the carpet. At around midnight the people in next room came back and were very loud, swearing and shouting. Extremely disappointing stay. 

Went to the bar for a drink and had to track down the barman, who was stood outside smoking.

The breakfast was fresh and hot but had to ask for clean cutlery, which put me off a bit.

Definitely would not stay here again.



Disappointing Stay

The room was basic but clean and the bed's really comfortable.
It's a 3 star hotel so we wasn't expecting much, but we would definitely stay again.
The staff were so helpful and friendly big thanks to Matt and Chris and also Carol who provided new year's eve entertainment with karaoke.
Breakfast was included in the price and it's a good breakfast served to you cereal's yogurt fresh fruit croissants and a cooked breakfast tea coffee and juice.
I had poached eggs on toast excellent. All served up with a smile.

Great stay 

Arrived at the Menai for a long weekend to meet with friends and can only say I have no idea where the photos or when the photos were taken but was close to booking out as soon as I booked in,first impression was on entry was very dirty and dated was told where my room was and sent on my way on arrival to my room the door was open along with a cigarette packet rapper on the bedside cabinet beds were made in a poor way and not tidy the view states mountain view which was laughable indeed, I asked if the hotel was full as I would of preferred to move rooms and was told fully booked all weekend to find the room opposite mine was empty all weekend as the door was left open all weekend this hotel really need to sort their cleaning out along with updating the rooms putting radiators on the wall with old bed slates and making headboards out of old cupboard doors really don’t cut it, the place is in need of a really good deep clean in all areas it really is dirty as you will see from my photos and these photos only show a few areas believe me there are many other areas that need attention would I recommend or go back absolutely NOT

Nothing like the website

This was a surprise stay so until the day I had no input. Upon reading reviews I was concerned but this place is definitely better than expected. A few small improvements and this could be a much nicer place to stay. A lick of paint, new carpets and someone dusting around the place and it would look so much better!
Room (#9) was fine, good size, decent bed, standard amenities. 
Hotel is a decent location but a walk from the town centre and up a steep hill if you’re looking to walk. 
Inclusive breakfast was a nice surprise as wasn’t expected. Good service from the staff - though don’t expect them 24/7, it’s more a pub with accommodation than hotel with a bar.

Better than expected

Stayed here Saturday night late August.  Did I stay in a different hotel to previous reviewers? Perfectly clean room,clean toilet and shower. Returned late Saturday, bar packed and noisy,but no noise came up to my room. Fair comments previously that it's perhaps in need of a renewal in parts upstairs but I wouldn't object to staying again.

University reunion

Stayed one night & never again,the whole place is filthy,stains all over beds,toilet is filthy,shower is a joke,don’t think it’s been cleaned for years.
If you are going to book think twice then think twice again it’s that bad,yes it’s cheap but it should be clean,wipe your feet on the way out.
Bangor is inhabited by aliens,I’m sure the un-dateables was filmed there.
Wales has some lovely places but unfortunately not this place.
