Stayed here for the Great North Run weekend. Everywhere was booked up so took a chance on this place. Met by Kel on arrival who was friendly and gave us the key to our room. The room was fine for a one night stay with plenty of space. The toilet roll was running low so I text Kel and she had a new industrial sized roll for the morning. Great service! Shared bathroom was fine.
There was some sound from the nightclub but as a heavy sleeper I wasn’t overly disturbed. Some lighter sleepers did mention they hadn’t heard the Vengabous for a while, pretty much a soundtrack to sleep to.
A memorable place to stay!

Great North Weekend

Haven’t stayed here for over a year. It’s still Really good stay for the money paid. Room was clean and warm a few stairs to go up has hotel is on top floor above bar so a bit of noise. Whether spoons next door so great for breakfast. Would stay again

Great Stay !

I booked this place as it was a cheap option for a night as I was at an event with my 2 sons . I had booked this unaware that it was above a nightclub and was very disappointed on arrival . We were shown to our room by a very nice staff member and with it being a saturday and as stated above a nightclub was not expecting a good nights sleep . The room had 4 beds and was basic but was clean and fresh . It overlooked the high street and again was not noisy . If you are hungry step outside theres a choice of take aways . We slept really well and left refreshed next morning . I would not stop there for a family stay again ,but if your going for a clubbing session and want to crash after .you can get a room for 4 for around a tenner each and its got a club attached .

unexpected but good

I know the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ and yes it was a brilliant price for a large group of us for one night...but wow even if I was offered a complimentary stay, I wouldn’t be going back.

Upon arriving, impressions were not too bad. It was a little strange entering the entrance to accommodation through a nightclub but having known our accommodation was situated above the establishment I suppose this is the norm.

The amount of stairs nearly killed us off but will definitely have helped burn off the calories from all the drinking!

Then we arrived upstairs!
We had booked 3 rooms for a group of us. The first room included a bathroom which was in a good and clean condition. However there were patches of paint stripped off the wall and stained bedsheets. 

The next 2 rooms were at the far end of the hallway and had no toilet facilities within them but instead a shared toilet cubicle and a shared bathroom. 
The toilet had no toilet seat attached to it and the lock on the door was broken....

In one of the rooms the roof began leaking brown water all over the beds during the night, meaning we had to move the beds out of the way and place the bin under the leak...luckily no one was in the beds directly below this.
When this was mentioned to a member of staff in the morning there was no apology but instead we were told ‘thanks for letting me know’.
The clothes rail in this room was also half hanging off and when I closed the curtains the whole curtain pole fell down on top of me!

Upon using the tea/coffee making facilities we found that the milk had gone off when we poured it out and it came out as a sludgy lump- disgusting! 

I’m aware that for a cheaply priced accommodation above a nightclub we should not expect a 5 star experience, but even in a homeless shelter I would expect a toilet seat....

Would not return!!!

We stayed here for a friend's birthday as it was cheap and in all honesty we looked at it as only somewhere to sleep. The staff were all lovely and very helpful, absolute credits to the company, especially Tom the manager. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfy. Hairdryer and iron were available on request and staff were more than happy to get them for us. Check in was very quick and easy, however the stairs were a workout when getting back at 4am. All in all was a fantastic stay and would heavily recommend, especially if you're there for a weekend of drinking. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing place!

Just stayed here for 2 nights for my hen
We had 2 4 bed rooms, rooms were spacious and clean, pub downstairs was very cheap. The manager Daniel is an absolute asset to the hotel he was fantastic, we will definitely be back x

Hen do

Stayed here for a girls night out, stayed for one night in a four bedded room with the shared bathroom (didn’t find a problem with this!) room was modern and spacious, could’ve been a bit cleaner but what do you expect for the price you pay! We went in the bar before going to the city, the bar seemed decent enough friendly people and staff! Taxi was 10 minutes (£9) to get to main strip. Spoons is next door and was a life saver in the morning. Although no takeaways where open at around 3am so get your food before going back to the hotel! Fab value for money, just what we needed a simple room to get ready and crash in!

Would stay again!

I would definetly not go back to this "hotel" we booked 2 rooms which fit 4 people  Wi-Fi only worked in 1 room, enough cups for 2 people, stains on the sheets & beds, recycling bottles outside in the early hours, getting told by the man on night shift it only gets cleaned once a week (which was believable considering the mess of the place). We were greeted after a night out by this man who wasn't pleasant at all when we arrived.  Yes it was cheap but at least make it clean!

If only I could give this place a 0!

Stayed 1 night for a lads night out in the City. The main issue with this 'hotel' is that if you arrive before 3pm, you're not getting in. All doors were closed because it's just a box standard bar entrance with the rooms being above the bar. You check in at the bar and they show you your room. I don't think this should be called a hotel because it isn't. Hotels are open all day so people can come and go. We arrived at 1pm after travelling from London and weren't able to get in atall. There was no notices informing you can't get in and there was no answer on the phone after calling 5+ times. Anyone would think the place is shut down, it certainly looked it, looked Very rundown from the front! Finally we got in after 3pm and our room was ok. Just what we needed for 1 night, somewhere to just sleep for a few hours. I couldn't imagine staying for longer than a night. The immediate area is ok for shops but nightlife is poor however we weren't bothered as we there to visit the city centre. The club downstairs kicked out at 2am and it was difficult to rest because there were fights kicking off left right and centre for about an hour. No bouncers on the door and no cops around so people were left to scrap and collect their takeaways from the nearby burger establishments. Overall average, not happy about being ignored till 3pm. Hotels.com doesn't even provide the check in time info and that the place doesn't open till 3pm!!
