Attended a small wedding reception hosted here on a Friday --spent 2 nights and was awestruck at how well run the place was. Super friendly, super efficient staff, everything clean.  Food excellent at every meal.  There was nothing too much to ask.  Room clean, quiet, well thought-out.  Cozy fires.  Clever, clever ideas to transform a country pub into a lovely reception venue.  Always one step ahead.  Hot drinks on arrival.  Late night fish and chips served at reception end.  Plates and drinks all filled before you could ask for them.  Great coffee!  This place could teach some 5* hotels a thing or two.  Kudos to all the management and staff.

Punches well above Its weight!

Cracking Pub family run pub. We've eaten here on a Sunday about 4 or 5 times now. 

The first time was a strange time around 7 pm on a warm Sunday evening, and the quality was very good even at that time. 

If you want to eat here between 1-3 pm then book, because it's really busy and the food is excellent. Dog Freindly all over the pub as well, which the staff will always try and find a good spot so the dogs won't interfere too much with service.

5 Star Roast 🔥

Check in went well and even swapped rooms for us as we preferred to be on the first floor.
Spacious room with very comfy king bed.Plenty of storage and lovely welcome tray.Very quiet in the bedroom. Breakfast was buffet for juices,cereals etc with hot breakfast cooked to order. Very tasty overall but not great fans of smoked bacon. Friendly staff. Overall,great short stay.

Three night break

Stayed here to do the local parkrun. Owners were very flexible allowing us to have breakfast a little later than advertised.
Also had dinner the previous evening. Food was very good if a little pricey.
Room was very comfortable and has a very efficient A/c unit, a blessing on one of the hottest days of the year.
Would recommend but is a little high price wise

Good country pub, nice rooms but a little pricey

Stayed 2 nights, omg what an amazing place, rooms are fantastic,  beds are the most comfortable we've slept in and the staff are fantastic can't fault anything here. Quiet countryside all around and so quiet, food is amazing and atmosphere in bar so friendly, price great, a wee hidden gem.

Fantastic stay

We were accomodated in room 15, we stayed 1 night, had drinks from the bar and ate dinner in the restaurant. 

Pros of stay: 

- Staff were very friendly.

- Beer was tasty and fairly priced.

- Freebies in room were a nice touch.

- Lots of parking.

- Breakfast included in room cost (£89) and was of reasonable quality.

- Nice big open fire in bar area.

Cons of stay:

- Hotel lobby was very very tired and in need of updating, looked more like a dumping ground than a hotel reception.

- Room had an unpleasant musty smell. 

- Extremely tired decor in room with chips scrapes and marks everywhere.

- Bathroom in desperate need of updating, bath panel hanging off, wooden skirting board behind toilet was blistered and flaky due to being damp.

- Bedroom walls were streaked and stained from damp / condensation which had trickled from the roof downwards (see pictures). 

- TV didn’t work properly, had to retune channels and even then there were only 5 available to watch.

- Restaurant decor very outdated and tired. No lampshades in any of the lights and the painting was brutally poor.

- Main meal prices were a bit steep, I’d be happy to pay £15 for a pie and chips if it was homemade pie and nice chips, sadly the pie was bought in, lacked in filling and was very salty. 

Overall, the staff were great and trying hard, however the whole place is in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation. Fullers should spend some money on this place as it has the potential to be stunning with a bit of TLC.

Great staff, shame about the state of the hotel.

Second time we have stayed here, the rooms are immaculate, the service is fantastic. 

The hotel manager Colette and her team went out of their way and surprised my wife for her birthday with a little something in the room which was incredibly thoughtful of them. 

The food is incredible, clearly well sourced ingredients and a great chef. 

The Hampshire Hog is our little 5 star secret that we will keep returning to. Would 10/10 recommend this hotel/pub to anyone wanting a great stay, great service and some great food.

What an excellent discovery. Large, warm and comfortable room. Good menu choice and good choice of beers. Friendly and helpful staff. Also, they must have been aware the music I play in my car. We will be back.

Overnight stay 8/9 December 2022

Now I understand prices are going up, but the price of the mediocre food here was an absolutely farce! You know those little Mr Kipling cakes that come in the perforated plastic packaging for your lunch box? Once of those, labelled a sticky toffee pudding for £7!!!! Look at the picture and use the teaspoon for scale, and where is the ‘sticky toffee’? £7!!! Unbelievable Jeff.

Super expensive!

Visited for a evening meal. Good, interesting vegetarian options, I had an aubergine schnitzel with plenty of kick to it, a latte followed by a fantastic sticky toffee pudding and mocha . Serving staff were polite and attentive. It's got that nice cosy vibe, highly recommend.
