We stayed in Anchorage Lodge which is opposite The Anchorage, which is an excellent compact apartment close to the harbour. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped for our 4 day stay. There were plenty of eateries, shops and a pub within a 5 minute walk and also boat trips.
We had good friendly communications with Avril and Si the owners who would help in anyway.
We honestly couldn`t  fault the place.

Stayed in the king room, attic room with character but still mod cons.en-suite with shower.sofa to sit and watch tv . Very nice room,they do like you to strip the beds and clean up shower ect after yourselves, not a problem but some might not like it. House is in a very good position close to the quay. We didn’t book restaurant as was only there 1 night but advisable, also chip shops get packed near closing time.

Avril was quick to respond and helpful with tips for the area. You can tell she's passionate about Wells NT Sea.

The room itself was cosy, a bit of a squeeze but it's because of a good king size bed and two comfy armchairs. Everything was clean and tidy, with fridge, tea & coffee facilities. Thank you for the little bottle of wine on arrival.

There are only small things that were not to our liking - one was the shower curtain (although this was clean, I personally find it difficult as it can cling to you and most are notoriously unsanitary), and the non-white towels. Again, just personal preference. We had a set of brown...  We could also have done with an extra pillow each but I'm sure if we asked we could have had them.

Be aware that due to covid, there are several requirements for guests to make it safe for the host and future guests including emptying your bins at the end of the stay, and breakfast isn't included but you can order a packed brekky at an additional charge.

Overall a great location and a convenient stay in such a beautiful area.

Cosy and convenient

Lovely place, room excellent, Avril the owner could not be more accommodating. Ideal for the beach and the local restaurants. Not the best time to visit during a storm but still had a great time. Would definitely recommend to friends and family

Lovely place to stay

We visited in January and so still in the throes of Covid restrictions. This meant the procedures and hygiene protocols inevitably made the experience very different to normal. But Avril has it down to a tee and her contact with us was exemplary. She went out of her way to get us a ‘packed breakfast’ for our earlier start and was very attentive to all messages. The room is compact but has a very comfortable bed and well-appointed shower room. The location is very central and super-peaceful. Good stuff.

Great customer service

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Anchorage Apartment! The apartment was extremely clean for us and a lot of care and attention is taken in to making this apartment Covid-safe! This was very important to us (being vulnerable), so we were very happy with this. The apartment is very centrally situated; such a great location. Avril is incredibly welcoming and met us outside to answer any questions and she was always contactable.  We really appreciate Avril recommending a number a restaurants prior to our visit, therefore we could book in advance and enjoy our stay. We would certainly recommend staying here, Thank you,

Visit in August 2021

Had a fantastic week away staying at Anchorage Wells in Wells Next the sea. A great location very close to the harbour. The room was lovely and clean with very nice shabby chic furniture. It had everything you need and the landlady and landlord made us feel very welcome.

Nice room, close to the main area in wells.
Clean and tidy inside however the outside did seem a little scruffy but they were carrying out renovations to the inside.
We understood and agreed to the covid regulations, the information which was provided in lengthy emails was alot however to digest.
I cant deny we had a nice break but we we're a little upset to receive a short and demanding message when we left to explains our selves and why we hadn't stripped the beds...!!! Honeslty it was so rude...let me be clear we emptied the bins cleaned around the bathroom and washed up all accesories used we are NOT the type of traveller to make a mess ...and thought despite paying over £100 a night ( cash ) we had been resonable!! I apologised for not stripping the bed, Instead we made the bed!!! But it did leave a bad taste in my mouth considering  WE  were the PAYING guest !! Nobody is perfect and like I said before with so many rules we dropped the ball in not stripping the bed, it didn't warrant receiving a scalding message, remember your providing  the service your not doing me a favour!!! While the room was nice I would never return here... 

Nice but a disappointing end!!

An enjoyable stay. 
Thoughtful, careful hosts.
We liked the room which was light and airy and clean and recently decorated. 
The bed was comfortable.
I like uncluttered surfaces - without owners’ ornaments etc and this was uncluttered, so there was space for our own things.
We had two comfortable chairs n the room, with views across part of the harbour.
Suitable drink-making facilities in the room and a couple of extra treats.
The en-suite was well-equipped.
There are a number of small roads (often called Yards) which lead off Freeman Street (B1105), none of which have vehicular access. Of these, Backhorse Yard is the nearest to the harbour and the centre-front of Wells, so very centrally located but quiet being on a small road. We were always able to find a parking space on Freeman Street (free and unlimited) and Anchorage Wells is less than one minute’s walk from this road. Alternatively, there are car parks further along Freeman Street, within a couple of minutes’ walk.
We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again if returning to Wells.

Good stay in very pleasant accommodation

Back for our second visit to Anchorage, it certainly did not disappoint. Avril is a great host and the B&B is in such a great location.
Even with all the COVID requirements in place, it felt easy and accommodating and if we needed Avril for anything she was always close by. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
We also really appreciated Avril's advice on the local seals and were lucky enough to find one right on the beach at Wells. We had a great time and can't recommend the Anchorage enough.
