Stayed here earlier this year and enjoyed our stay so decided to come back a second time what a disappointment the standards have gone down hill somewhat our room was ok but the bathroom was a disappointment it was dirty mould and dirt round the windows. toilet seat need’s changing shower had mould inside. it needs a refurb breakfast was a letdown very poor the sausages was not from a butchers as was the bacon cheap ingredients used inedible the tables are grubby and sticky and have never been cleaned they were like that when we stayed last time management should be on top of this at all times we payed £140 a night to stay here but won’t be coming back again.

What a let down 

We stayed here in 2018 and thought it was lovely so decided to come back and sadly so disappointed  The start of our stay was not good...paid extra for harbour view to be greeted by a couple outside our window on the pub balcony..shocked and thats definitely no harbour view and people need to know. Got a new room eventually but not very organised, so was moved to one room...up more steep stairs and unpacked to then be moved again up more stairs.  Stairs are very steep and awkward to walk up and down . Shower was mouldy and smelt, pillows were flat but breakfast was lovely

Drinks were good, but that was about the only good thing about it. Fish and chips were poor, batter was so tough it was inedible, and the chips were tasteless. One of our group ordered a sandwich on white and it came on brown. Asked for some salt and it’s like we’d asked for it to be mined in front of us. Won’t be going again, and for Whitby, it was poor.

I booked the cottage for 3 of us and thought that at the price it ought to be nice.  It wasn't.  It was in the back alley behind the Pier, next to the large bin store and the smokers area.  The cottage smells bad - not sure if that is the bins or the drains - the numerous plug-in air fresheners cannot overpower the smell.  The place itself is shabby and the shower in the bathroom needs some professional help to remove the black mould from grout between the tiles.
On the plus side it's quite central, the staff in the pub were friendly and helpful and the beds were comfortable.  Wouldn't go again.

Called here Sunday night great atmosphere Motown music on the place was buzzin great atmosphere we had our dog with us made very welcome security on door very friendly the staff were great as it was boiling 🥵 well done thanks for a great night would return

Weekend in whitby

Excellent fish and chips, very friendly staff and superb local beer.
We had some of the best chips we’ve had in ages here

Lovely to sit on upper deck over looking the harbour. Will definitely be back

The staff very rude  asked for 1 of my pints of cask ale pints to be topped up & why I had been charged 3 different prices for the same drinks a few pleasantries were spoken in my direction. Went outside drunk half of my pint when a bar staff came out picked my drink up threw it across the pavement & told me i was barred I did not react which i think upset them even more {I am an ex-publican & know how to react} then 2 more staff came out giving me abuse. I had a lot of friends in Whitby who know me & can't believe what happened. Your loss, but did have a good laugh about it all weekend

lovely food and staff especially a lovely girl called Paris who couldn't do enough for us,what a shame our visit was spoilt by a very rude and unhelpful  Bulgarian barmaid/waitress.
Paris needs a pay rise and the rude girl needs to find another job.

I took my wife, daughter and two teenage grandchildren for a meal.
£100 later, we were on the first floor balcony waiting for our food when a scruffy group of fifty something chavs arrived.
Hurray, they all lit spliffs on a no smoking balcony.
We complained to them and were roundly and rudely abused and then to the management and their response was to move them downstairs. 
We can do without the abuse thank you very much. 
There are much better places to go where you don't get abused.
The food was half decent but doesn't make up for the company.

Spoiled by the company. 

Excellent place to stay location is great, view from room is lovely and the room itself was clean with everything you need, Beds are comfy with clean bedding, staff  friendly and Breakfast was great with plenty of choice.
