Having stayed in a really miserable, run down B+B within a short distance of the Pinewood last year, I wasn't that hopeful of finding somewhere of 'quality' without paying through the nose. But the reviews were good so we took a chance (mind you, so did the one last year and that turned out to be a bit of a s*** hole). As soon as we drove up to this place, I knew we'd chosen well. The outside looks fresh and well cared for. As for the interior, there has clearly been money spent on ensuring a good stay. The fresh flowers and plants dotted around really do lift a place and these abound, especially in the really lovely breakfast room. There's even a bowl of chocolates to sample from in the entrance hallway, which is a really nice touch. The staff are pleasant without being 'overly friendly' (which I never appreciate). The room was very clean and of a good size. I loved the little extras that really good establishments seen to offer like a kettle, tea, coffee, hairdryer, electric fan etc. The breakfast is really very nice - and plentiful. The thickest breakfast bacon I've ever had - and where gives you THREE perfect poached eggs? The dining area is spotless and the white crockery squeaky clean. I especially appreciated the size of the shower room (a bit of mould could do with some bleaching I think!). There's a superb view of the abbey as you leave the building and face left, and the other establishments on the terrace also look cared for - this isn't a run down area of Whitby. It's only a short walk to Cook's monument with probably the best views in Whitby. Would we stay again? Without a doubt.

Excellent Stay

Great guesthouse. Hosts Tim and Josie gave us a warm welcome. The room was cosy, well equipped with a small fridge, tea makings and toiletries to make ourselves comfortable. Very clean and with modern plumbing. The breakfast was superb with wide choice and  cooked to order. Walking distance to town centre with all the shops and restaurants and fish and chips. We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay there again.


Great place to stay.

Managed to get a last minute 2 day booking. How lucky we were. The photographs of the bedrooms are a good likeness. Reasonable sized room, spotlessly clean and good sized bathroom. Breakfast is fantastic, you won't need any lunch! Josie serves the best of everything for breakfast. Lovely selection of fresh fruit. Butcher sausages and best back bacon, heinz beans, lurpak butter. You can't beat it. Their micro pub is also worth a visit (that is if you can get in). I am sometimes suspicious if reviews are all good but the Pinewood earns its good reputation.

Book it if it is available. 

Fantastic 2 night stay in Feb. Our first visit to Whitby.  The room was excellent, clean and had all the necessary items needed. Even had a small fridge.  Tea and coffee making facilities.  The breakfast was 5 star and cooked to order.  Fantastic hosts and checkin was easy and parking vouchers given.  Great host great location and great breakfast.

Fantastic 2 night stay

We booked the family room for 3 nights over the Whitby regatta weekend and were delighted with our stay here. We had 2 separate rooms within a family suite with a large en-suite shower room. This was great for my husband, me and our two older teenagers. Plenty of room and very comfortable, quiet and clean. The shower room was a decent size and very clean. There is a hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge in the room. 
Breakfast is 8.30-9am which was a little early for some, but it was superb. Plenty of choice and beautifully cooked with an option to pre- order specials such as kippers or an omelette. 
Our hosts Tim and Josie were very welcoming and ensured our stay was comfortable. 
The location is excellent, just a couple of minutes walk to the whale bones, or into the town centre. Plenty of pubs nearby. 
Street parking is available with a voucher which was supplied by the hosts. Parking directly outside is not always available but you can drop off or pick up from the road outside. 
I would recommend a stay here at any time of year for a comfortable and welcoming stay.

A wonderful regatta weekend.

We stayed for 4 nights in room 4, front facing 2 bedrooms family room. The photographs on the website do not do  justice to the accomodation. The rooms were well equipped with complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee etc, spotlessly clean and beds made daily. The free wifi was fast. TV in each bedroom. Shower was hot and powerful. Small fridge too. Hosts were friendly, helpful and positive in promoting Whitby. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order using quality, local produce and included cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and various combinations of a full English, smoked salmon and kippers. Parking was free...a permit is allocated on arrival enabling you to park on roads in zone W....side streets around the b and b. We had a space less than 50yds from the accomodation. The location of the b and b is excellent...5 mins walk from the beach,  centre of Whitby and football ground.  Virtually on the Cleveland Way. We didn't use the car at all as Whitby and surrounds has a really good bus and rail service. The Pavillion with cinema and theatre etc is a 2 min walk. Plenty of places to eat especially if you like fish and chips and a really nice chinese and pizza restaurant  on the doorstep. Highly recommended. My own preference would be for a small jug of milk to be provided instead of the small sachets. Thanks for a wonderful stay

Exceeded expectations

Long weekend in Whitby   Fabulous weekend !  The room was very clean with everything you required from hairdryer to bottle opener.  Our hosts Tim and Josie went out of there way to make our stay memorable.  The breakfast was excellent with seasonal fresh fruit, full English, kippers and even smoked salmon 😀 The location was great,  easy walking distance from the centre and main attractions.  We would definitely stay here again!

Long weekend in Whitby

The perfect regatta weekend, with friends and family and our wonderful hosts Tim and Josie. Our day started after a great night’s sleep, our rooms were fabulous followed by Josie’s amazing breakfast to set you up for a day exploring Whitby, can’t wait for our next trip which we are planning now.

Perfect Regatta weekend stay

Met by Tim and Josie who were fabulous hosts throughout our stay. The breakfast was amazing cooked by Josie and Angela who served served breakfast was lovely. The rooms were spotless and we are really looking forward to our next stay at Pinewood, hopefully we will be able to have a beer in their new micro pub which will open in the coming months - cant wait!!
