Had a fantastic Sunday Monday night stay here. All the staff were fantastic,a special mention to Amy at reception who helped me out when I had taken the wrong insulin.
Used the scratch card you got from the hotel for free parking.
Breakfast from the hotel was really nice.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spotless.
Will definitely stay again.
The only negative was that building renovation work was being carried out but the times this was taking place didn't impact our stay.

Enjoyable stay

Lovely room. So much attention to detail and fantastic view across to the Abbey. Lovely meal in the new Vault bar- the duck was excellent. Staff were amazing and great value for money.
Highly recommend the Captains suite with 4 poster bed, jacuzzi bath with TV, beautifully decorated with everything you need, hair dryer, coffee machine and comfy bed.

Fantastic hotel and brilliant location.

The Vault (below the Resolution)- First rate food on the first night! I had a carpetbag steak stuffed with oysters, a real foodies delight, cooked to perfection. Helpful, friendly and fast service. Warm and friendly vibes.  Definitely will be coming back soon. Five out of five!

First rate food on the first night!

The moment we stepped into this hotel, it was clear that no expense had been spared on the furnishings.
1st class staff.
Restaurant excellent quality, don’t be put off by the limited on line menu, there are specials every night.
Captains room very spacious, enormous four poster, whirlpool bath including TV over the bath.

So good we stayed an extra night

Considering the cost of over £120 this hotel is one of the worst we have stayed. Although staff friendly, the rooms themselves were pretty bleak, minimal and unpleasant. 

The worst though, was just how grubby everything was. We had to wash out the kettle which was brown inside (yuck!) and the mugs before drinking from them. Then we had to ask for clean towels and pillow cases because there were brown stains and a shoe print!  The next morning as we were checking out, we saw that housekeeping put all the 'clean' towels and bedding on the floor outside the rooms ready to make up for the next guests. Probably explains why everything was dirty. Putting it on the floor, on the grubby carpet is gross.

The breakfast was ok, but again for the cost, everything was pretty budget and poor quality though you got plenty of it.

I wouldn't recommend, there are so many better places at this price point. Overall, a very disappointing and quite uncomfortable stay.

Dirty and bleak. Won't be back.

We stayed in Whitby on the last weekend in February 2023 and we’ve finally found a hotel we love in Whitby. The location is great, the bar and food area is lovely complete with a big fish tank. Our room was a king room (number 2) where we stayed with our young daughter and it was beautiful, clean and had coffee/tea making facilities + a jacuzzi bath complete with TV! The bar area was where we spent the night, with around 15 family members, the hotel reserved an area for us and were great with us and with the two kids who were with us. Breakfast the next morning was also so nice too! (Photo is the veggie breakfast) We go to Whitby every year for my Nana’s anniversary and we are so happy we have found this place!! Massive thanks to the all the staff, they were so lovely and friendly and looked after us well.

Great location and wonderful vibe!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Resolution as part of an East Coast break.
The hotel and staff were excellent throughout. When we arrived we were upgraded to a sea view room which was newly refurbished and was a great room.
Breakfast, which was included in the price, was fantastic every day, great quality and service. The staff were very friendly and attentive, including providing us with fruit after breakfast had finished.
Great location as well, would definitely recommend.

Great hotel

We have just returned from a fab stay here. The hotel is clean and warm and good value for money and so central to everything. The evening food is good no frills pub grub but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We had a slight leak in the shower which was dealt with in the blink of an eye. Our only criticism would be that king-size beds aren't standard in this day and age. As tall people we overhung the bottom but the Sea view was compensation. Also the gap between the bottom of the door and corridor was huge and let loads of light in. Finally a special mention to Jay who works there. He is a real asset, so attentive, efficient and friendly

Short break away 

Room was ok, cups were dirty, room was warm..

Had food in the restaurant, was ok I left most of mine. I ordered the Teeside parmo.

Bedtime was a nightmare.. our room was above the stairs to the bar, so all we could hear until late was banging of footsteps..
Also just outside the room was brightly lit, so even when  the blinds were down the light still came through. 
To make the night even worse, was the constant doors slamming… especially next door… 
It sounded like it was out door being opened.. 
my little one was slightly scared.
Then after the slamming doors… all we could hear was loud snoring next door..
So from 10 pm until 4am we sat and watched tv… as soon as it got light we left… 
Didn’t even stay for breakfast… just had enough… ruined our stay and probably will not come back to this hotel.

Don’t expect any sleep

Lovely room on first floor with view of Abbey, immaculately clean, attentive staff, had breakfast both mornings cooked to our request and had the parmo offer on Saturday night, couldn't fault it, the hotel is very central although on a steep bank, had a brilliant weekend and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
