Went for a drink at the Grand Atlantic hotel, Barman was friendly but the two men on reception were a disgrace, one wearing a baseball cap and the other a t-shirt with hugo boss written in large letters on the back not very friendly, not exactly a good impression from a Hotel with Grand in the title. over heard the one with the baseball cap swearing and bad mouthing management and someone called Dee then the two went out smoking on the steps leading into the hotel, not a great welcoming to guests coming into the hotel. I think the management need to have a re think on the type of people they employ to represent a Hotel with Grand as a title.

Grand atlantic hotel, nothing Grand about it.

After paying in full we where advised that the hotel lift was out of order, as disabled people we were given a room on the 1st of 4 floors - including front entrance this was still approx 30 steps.  The revolving door is so small - we struggled to get through it with a small case.  The car park is owned by a company called Horizon and charged at £10.00 per night.  There is no information in the rooms about anything - other than fire procedures, you are told the times for breakfast at reception but nothing mentioned about dinner. 
The room was dreary painted in dark grey,  there were two metal framed single glazed windows, filthy dirty, with no nets, directly looked into by a block of residential flats.  The wind was howling through them, with a distinct draft even causing the heavy curtains to blow about,  the room was very cold,  we could not get the heating to work and when i asked for the heating to be put on, the receptionist told me "there is no heating at the moment im afraid, but the hotel is generally quite warm"  did find a plug in oil filled radiator heater that we  were able to use,  but the room was still dreary, drafty and cold.  
We met many people on the stairs - in real distress at having to climb many flights of stairs to access their rooms, some elderly people were having to climb to 4th floor which i was told 84 steps  i did not see anyone available to help people with cases to their rooms,  the staff were ok but not over helpful , apart from one member of staff who just happened to be coming down the stairs and offered to take our case. 
The beds were comfortable and rooms generally clean,  there is a lovely dining room, and breakfast was basic but fine,   this  building is not suitable for disabled or elderly people -  the lift holds a maximum of two people, the revolving doors are very small, parking charges are extortionate and as far as the lift being out of order,  if you check back over the reviews it has been out of action on and off for more than a few years. 
When paying good money for what should be a pleasant stay -  it is unacceptable that the overseas owner of this hotel expects paying guests to "make do" with what is an appalling lack of care/responsibility  for guests using the hotel - access to the hotel and its rooms is clearly an ongoing problem due to the characteristics of the building.  it should be made perfectly clear that this hotel cannot RELIABLY cater for people with physical disability.  and stop taking bookings and payment prior to telling them there is no lift or no heating.
We had booked three nights at this hotel - but left after only one night as we could not stand feeling miserable and cold in this - COLD COMFORT HOTEL ...  i dont  apportion any blame to the staff or  manager -  but i think its just another case of overseas owners clearly in it for maximum profit at minimum cost ............and at this hotel it becomes very apparent  -so my advise is unless you are physically able stay clear of this hotel............ it really was a miserable stay.   They couldnt even stretch to soap in the bathroom dispenser -   I felt lucky to have a toilet roll.

COLD COMFORT HOTEL - READ THIS REV IEW BEFORE HANDING OVER ANY MONEY

The worst hotel I’ve ever visited. So much so that on seeing the room, we left immediately and requested a refund. Hostels would be 5* in comparison, and no, the lift has still not been fixed. But they don’t warn you about that until you arrive and are told your room is on the 3rd floor.

Stay anywhere else. 
This hotel falsely advertises the standard of their rooms. Going by the images they use to advertise it looks nothing, and I mean NOTHING, like the pictures they use to promote the rooms.

The Worst Hotel I’ve Ever Visited

On the good side: great location, helpful staff, dog friendly, good shower, clean and good quality bed linen. Breakfast OK but not great.

On the bad side: lift not working, single room very small, very bad state of repair, deadlock on door didn't work, one light not working, extractor in bathroom not working.

Needs refurb

Very disappointed with the Grand Atlantic - paid £130 for a very small single room. There was a very strange smell to the room - the decor was very tired desperately in need of a thorough clean, redecoration, new furniture, carpet and curtains. Sorry very shabby. The management has to consider investing in a major revamp of its rooms - at this price expectations are a lot higher than what the Grand has to offer. Hard to justify even 3 stars. On top of that the lift isn’t working and apparently hasn’t worked since April - I was allocated a room on the 3rd floor and to cap it off you are charged an additional £10 to leave your car in their car park. Sorry Grand Atlantic - wont be using you again.

Very Poor Indeed

The Hotel did not live up to it's name. We knew that the lift was out of order a while before we travelled BUT was still out of order when we arrived. As a result we had to climb up 2 floor to access our room. The room was on the small side, bath had handles on the inside to assist in getting in and out but one was missing. Bed the not comfortable and everytime one person moved the other felt it. Breakfast was about the best part. We did not use the restaurant in the evening.

I booked a room at this hotel throu Expidia, we arrived on sat 26th july,2024.
& was told by the reception staff that our booking had been cancelled by expedia, apparently my card details would not go throu.
I received an e/mail from expedia saying roon was booked for 2 nights & to pay hotel on arrival.
We arrived  at hotel & were told expedia had canceled the 2 night stay as my card details did not go throu,,,strange,,,,to say the least as on the e/mail they sent said pay hotel on arrival,,, 
The hotel could only let us have a room for 1 night ,,
Big thank you,( NOT) totaly spoilt our weekend.

Disapointed.  This experience had nothing to do with the hotel. Who were really helpfull.

Do not stay here! I am absolutely disgusted with the hotel. Tried to complain to the hotel both in person and over email and was completely ignored and dismissed. Upon arrival at the hotel we were asked to make payment. Only after making the payment were we informed the lift was out of order. We were given a room on the top floor. This involved walking up 8 flights of stairs every time we wanted to go to our room. My mother is 68 and has Ostro arthiritus and these journeys to the room were extremely painful for her! I informed staff of this and they did not seem to care and offered no alternative or reduced rate. After further investigating the situation I found out the lifts have been out of order for the last 7 months!!! Most of the guests at the hotel are of the older generation and it was painful to see visitors in agony struggling up the 8 flights of stairs. We even saw one poor woman having to use her inhailer. This did not phase the staff. I asked to speak to the manager who was never available. So I emailed them. No reply. I asked a staff member if I was going to have a reply and she said she had forwarded the email to her manager. We have returned home and still no reply. Disgusting customer service! Rooms were very outdated with lots of chips in paint and faulty windows. Rooms extremely hot. Breakfast very average and some days cold, toaster not working. Awful stay and rude manager to not even acknowledge a customer complaint. Would not return do not waste your money!

The grand Atlantic hotel - nothing grand about it

We can't thank the team at The Grand Atlantic enough the service they provided for our recent wedding reception!
Claire (events coordinator) is like a fairy godmother, she made sure everything went without a hitch, nothing was too much trouble and she really helped our day be magical, just like what we wanted! Every guest commented on how delicious the 3-course meal was with quite a few saying it was the best meal they'd had at a wedding!
Over half of our party stayed overnight, everyone said how nice their rooms were and how tasty the breakfast was! We were more than happy with our room, it was bright and airy with a sea view. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and everywhere was immaculately clean.
The lift wasn't working however everyone was asked if they'd like help with their bags and a seat was provided on every level should you need a quick rest!
Yes this is an old building, yes there is the odd tired area but it is a Victorian building packed with charm, original features and has modern amenities.
We would HIGHLY recommend people consider The Grand Atlantic for their future events and again we can't thank the whole team enough!

Best wedding reception ever!

If I had millions of pounds I would give the hotel the tlc it deserves but unfortunately I don’t! It has amazing views and I wish I could go back in time to its heyday ! I absolutely love these grand old hotels, I prefer them over the modern types and after reading some of the reviews on here I knew it wasn’t going to be perfect but I also knew I would have the best view. The staff are very friendly and they gave me a turret room which I requested prior to arriving and they also let me check in early. 401 is unfortunately in need of a refresh and really is worn in places like the rest of the hotel. I mentioned that the window was broken but no one had looked at it when I returned to my room so I had to put some tissues in the gap. 
The positives include the amazing view and comfy beds plus  big TV and storage space. I’m glad that I’ve had the opportunity to stay here and I also would come back but only if the price was reasonable due to the wear and tear.
