Excellent location and breakfast but as for the standard of our room we were very disappointed for the price.
A warm welcome on arrival but the smell of stale cigarette odour was present, not what you want to be greeted with.
Size wise the room was adequate with a nice sea view. Very outdated furniture, the bed was uncomfortable and the tiny shower room smelt damp and in need of a refurb. Generally the room and bathroom was unclean, I don't like seeing someone else's hair from top and bottom in the shower tray and over the floor!!
We certainly would not stay there again, even though the breakfast was delicious.
Parking was tricky, we were given a permit, so we didn't have to pay.

Disappointing stay

Place needs a spring clean and electrics sorting. I think the landlord here thinks his gods gift don’t inter act , but likes to look you up and down , not sure what’s going on here with the owners, but we are paying guests, the guest house few doors up , where very nice owners I had a chat , as you do when on holiday, and I feel I will book with them next year, as said before the carpets in here are in need of replacing , as thread bare, and the smell of fish , as said stayed in better, won’t bother with here food just ok

Not the best

The wiring was terrible and the TV and lights above dressing table did not work.  The toilet flush was very hit and miss and guess there is a plumbing issue!  There was a continuous humming noise outside the door and we were unable to sleep well.  We were told it was free parking but ended up having to pay £13 for less than 24 hours.  The breakfast was 'middle of the road'.  No extra toast was offered and no-one asked if it was o.k.  The waitress did not tie her hair back when serving food, which is unacceptable I think.  The room had not been checked before we arrived as when I hung a coat in the wardrobe there was a pair of shoes in there on the shelf (obviously from the previous person staying there)!!  Landlady was pleasant and landlord didn't even make eye contact when we checked out - like we were not worthy of their hospitality!  Would definitely not stay there again.

One night stop in Weymouth

A lovely building, we had a balcony overlooking the harbour and our friends had a bay window with the same views.. bedrooms were clean and bright .the carpets need replacing abit worn and bathrooms need an over haul our sink plug hole was rusty, and the showers tiny and abit old..but the place over all was very clean ...downstairs was lovely..breakfast was great and they had a bar which was also great..owners were away so place was being looked after by the parents and in laws...Jackie was good at brekkie and Elizabeth and Sandra were very funny and friendly on bar duty..we will be back 

A great place to stay

First of all our 
stay at The Chatsworth didn't spoil our weekend away.
But, we were a little disappointed in our stay. We expected so much more, having stayed at similar guest houses close by. 
The rooms, as others have said, need updating, but as the weather was so good, it didn't bother us as we stayed out all day.
The disinterest in the owners was so obvious! They were not interested in us whatsoever, not even to say 'good morning' 
We usually have a chat with other guesthouse owners who show an interest in you as a guest.

Try elsewhere first

We booked the Chatsworth Hotel Weymouth for a 3 night break to visit our son On arrival we were told the owners had gone away for a few days we were directed to our room No 4 with balcony overlooking harbour.
It was very disappointing if not disgusting we looked for somewhere else but no vacancies so had to stay put. The carpet was worn with a rip in it on the  step out to the balcony which is a serious trip hazard, on the balcony was a overflowing ashtray. The bathroom and shower were disgusting. The bed was ripped and stained when the sheets were pulled back. The door to the balcony would not close.
To top it all when we arrived we were told the chef starts at 7am so breakfast was from 7 onwards ,we had our breakfast at 8-15 am on two mornings, on our last morning we went for breakfast at 7-40 am as we had a train to catch only to find the dining room not ready only dirty glasses on the bar from the night before instead of cereal ect .we went back to our room and returned at 7-55 am only to find the same ,we went to our room and picked up our luggage and went to dinning room at 8-10 am. the owner had just started to clear from the night before . I left the keys and told him we had been down twice before and that we would have to leave without breakfast he was not concerned .We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Room needs attention regarding maintenance.housekeeping was practically non existent. Breakfast was very good.view from room excellent . Host very pleasant when taking cash from us but found him rude . Made no effort to speak to anyone 

Lovely position but would return 

Parking is in the streets around the Hotel. Very difficult to find spaces convenient to the Hotel. Our room was on 4th floor, no lift, narrow staircase.
Room was in the attic. Shower room was wardrobe size with a step into.
very snug for 1 person to get into.  Bedroom was very small, single size. Wall un plastered, Good view of harbour from the small window. As my wife and I are elderly and with medical problems we did not stay. Owner said a refund would be possible, agreed by Booking.com. but 10 weeks later nothing received!!

Not happy!

Fantastic owners great location stayed in room with balcony which was lovey.
My Mum and Dad stayed there for 3 nights and they are definitely going back.  They overlooked the harbour and it was really close to the beach.  Breakfast also VERY good 😁

Amazing weymouth 

Pros Short walk to the beach and shops the outlook to the harbour. Breakfast was very lovely, nice area, juices, cereal, yoghurts, fruit, Fresh Brewed Cafetiere coffee and tea. You could order Full English which was lovely. A hot drinks tray in our room with tea coffee sugar and uht milk and two biscuits, Wi-Fi was easy to log into, bed was comfortable same as the pillows. 

Cons Damp ceiling with water marks shower room very small and the shower was very slow shower in room and running cold even after running for a short time door handle came off to shower room door and the window was rotten and came apart.
The bedroom door wood was swollen and very stiff to open and shut. Lots of stairs.
