We have stayed a couple of times and had a brilliant time.
The hotel is clean and comfortable, rooms are nice and quiet. Parking is onsite and it’s a short walk to Whitby. Taxis are cheap if you want to get one back up the hill!
The staff are so lovely, they really make a difference, right from arriving, they are welcoming and friendly.
The pub has a good collection of food and drinks and offers good value for money. It’s warm and welcoming and so convenient for the hotel.
The breakfast is highly recommended, really nice and fantastic value, served by lovely staff.

Great little hotel and pub

Fabulous place to stay when visiting Whitby we never stay anywhere else. Parking on site which is an added bonus , the hotel and restaurant are both spotless along with the most amazing staff who are a credit to the hotel . Meals are always fresh and tasty and the most important thing is the food is always hot . It's only about 15_20 minutes walk into the centre of Whitby but you can always catch the bus . Thanks again see you soon .

Fab hotel 

Come here a lot and have also stayed in the b and b side. Cannot fault anything at all. Clean comfortable rooms. Breakfast lunch dinner always fabulous. Sunday lunch great also. Staff always friendly attentive and service always excellent. 😃

Professional in all aspects

Stayed at the pennyhedge for 1 night. Room was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. Had an evening meal and breakfast at the pub attached. Food was really good value for money, served piping hot. Great service and really friendly staff. We’d definetly go back here again

Weekend in Whitby

Staff were all excellent, without exception: all friendly and very helpful.
Check in process was smooth, bar/restaurant great, breakfast was lovely and evening meal delicious.
Room was very comfortable and clean, parking was easy.
So all in all, a very positive experience for the money thank you!

Two night stay at Whitby

Not a bad Penny! What a Great Place, Dog friendly with vegan options perfect for the modern fussy family, friendly and welcoming staff make for a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that is worth the little extra in the prices, but the food is great and worth that also and you could even stay the night! Good venue but hidden so need to promote more. Dogs are made to feel as guests which is great.

Not a bad Penny!

Booked in at the Penny Hedge at Whitby last minute as we decided to go to Whitby a day earlier than originally planned. We stayed there on the 31st of August and to save us Travelling to our next B&b on our wedding day on the 1st of September the management of the Penny Hedge very Kindly allowed us to stay in our room until 12.30 pm before we left we booked a table for 4 for 3pm and when we got back they had put up a congratulations banner near our table presented us with a bottle of procceco and  a lovely card and also gave us the first round of drinks on the house ! .The room we stayed in was excellent well equipped and very clean, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming and breakfast and dinner were superb would definitely stay again Many thanks to All from Karen and Mal Whitelam.

Wedding Day

Had a night in Whitby, stayed here for the first time, rooms were clean and well equipped, had a meal in the pub, the burgers were fantastic, breakfast was £8.75 but we'll worth it as it includes the continental too.
Well worth the money, all of us enjoyed the place.

Value for money 

We have just returned from a stay in Whitby and without a doubt the best stopover we had was the Penny Hedge!
The room had everything we needed ,it was clean, modern and very comfortable.
The pub/restaurant had super food and drinks and the staff looked after us so well, a particular mention goes to Nicola and her team who looked after our every need.
Thanks guys and we will see you again some time!

Perfect stay

Fantastic two night stay, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Rooms immaculate with  plenty of space, food was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice of hot and cold items. Special mention for Glen, he really did go out of his way to make sure we were well looked after. We can’t wait to return, thanks again Penny Hedge staff.
