Arrived at the The Wheeldale at 12.30, helpful reception staff, asked if room was ok and offered help with luggage up the 2 flights of stairs.
Car park can be a pain so be careful, you can get blocked in by people leaving cars and going out for the day.
Rooms adequate, comfy with sea view.
Breakfast made to order and good quality ingredients.
Helpful waitress.
We booked 2 rooms for 4 people and close to each other.
Only downside locked out the lounge at 9pm when states 10pm
Everything else perfect.
Would stay again.

Whitby Wheeldale Weekend

We have spent many happy Whitby holidays at The Wheeldale over the years. We call it "our Whitby fix"!

The location of The Wheeldale facing the sea on the North Promenade is unbeatable. Just steps away from the golden sands, and Whitby's charming harbour with its busy boats and fresh seafood stalls is within easy walking distance. The iconic Whitby Abbey and the Captain Cook Memorial Museum are both close by.
The Wheeldale ticks all the boxes for us. A stunning location, free parking, exceptional hospitality, and a touch of family charm. The Wheeldale is a place you won't want to miss.

A Seaside Escape To Treasure - The Wheeldale in Whitby.

Staying at The Wheeldale hotel was one of the best experiences of staying at hotels I've have. The staff is great and friendly, the food is good and the room was excellent. The bathroom was clean and had everything we'd needed, the bed was big and had enough pillows and blankets. I would totally recommend staying here if you're visiting Whitby or Sandsend any time of the year.

Great experience

A wonderful place to stay and we were so lucky to be able to book it last minute. You can see why it is booked out so often.

On arrival, Rebecca on reception was so polite and helpful, especially as the parking was full. She was so helpful with great advice about parking across the road and the parking pass. She also gave us some great tips about what to see and do in Whitby.

Whitby centre, including the harbour area is only a gentle walk away so we were able to enjoy all its wonderful attractions. I highly recommend the Black Pearl boat ride!

The room was lovely and clean and the jacuzzi bath was a wonderful addition. Tea and coffee is available, in the room and the guest  lounge at the front of the B&B also provides hot and cold drinks (and wine) on an honesty basis which was a nice touch. Despite the windy night the bed was very comfortable and we had a wonderful nights sleep. The view over the cricket ground was a pleasant addition too.

Breakfast was delicious, including the full English. There at yoghurts and fruit with fresh apple and orange juice. I agree with previous reviews that the sausages were delicious and the breakfast staff were so attentive. Although we were not sat by the window you could still see the sea and it was lovely to be able to so.

Overall it was a wonderful place to stay a day fantastic value for money. It’s definitely a place that we will be staying again when we come back to Whitby. My partner said that she would like to stay again so that speaks volumes!

A wonderful place to stay when visiting Whitby and great value for money! Highly recommended!

We had the only twin room which is on the ground floor in the annex. It was immaculately clean with a double and a single bed. What was particularly nice was the fact that the two beds are separated by an internal door so it’s almost like getting two rooms for the price of one. The room had a large TV with Sky and a proper chair (a nice extra for relaxing when the weather isn’t great though 2 would be even better).

Breakfast was nice and very generous - choices  are relatively limited for the hot course but with all the bases covered and they were happy to adapt the full English to suit.

I would recommend booking directly with the hotel either by phone or through their website since prices are cheaper and they do run a loyalty scheme if you plan to return. You can also look at the rooms who all seem to have their own unique feature (ours was a jacuzzi bath) and some have sea views which are stunning before choosing which one to stay in.

As regards parking, the drive can be a bit tight but you can always get a permit to park on the road (£2 for 2 days) from the hotel. The road is permit only so there’s usually space.

Overall a lovely relaxing stay with an honesty bar in the lounge which was a nice touch (wine, lager, cider, soft and hot drinks available).

A great 2 night stay

We had a lovely time at the wheeldale lovely family atmosphere very clean and cosy lovely breakfast very filling. While we was there my wife had a fall and rebecca and Toby and family couldn't do enough for us we we're so overwhelmed with what they did for us so WE WILL BE BACK if they don't say there book up when they know who's coming back lol deffo 5stars from us cathryn and ivan garlick

We stayed in one of the large double rooms. The one overlooking the cricket ground. Wow ! It was more like a suite. A huge room. A huge huge double bed....I couldn't tell my partner was in it ....and it was so comfy. A large bathroom....shower AND bath and the shower is large enough to dance in....if that's your thing.  A big sofa opposite a large TV and....wait for it....the sofa was a reclining one ! I had the best nap of my life on it ! Handy for the beach , town etc. Friendly owners. Lovely breakfast. Very clean. Really can't fault it. We had a lovely stay. 
 

BIG ! 

We stayed at the wheeldale August bank holiday for 2 nights . The place was anazing our room was huge and overlooked the cricket field . It had a king  sized bed and massive bathrom . French doors opened outside . The room had a large settee tv and wardrobe . It had a massive ensuite  bathroom and shower and bath . It was so clean  the rooms were checked after they were cleaned .pillow  had two pillowcases  on them and towrls changed day plus the bed made every day . Coffee making facilities in the room . Plus hairdryer the iron and ironing board.
The  breakfast was piping hot and the best cook breakfast id had with home cooked produce . They have thought of everytjing . Im a self employed cleaner and i couldn't fault it in anyway . . 10/10 .definitely would go back  . Akso you get a parking permit for the stay included . 

Top marks for the wheeldale 

Great location however not worth £126 a night stay. Clean room but it  needs updating for the price. Breakfast wasn’t the best, cold toast and poached eggs were like hard boiled egg. We were lucky with parking we got a space outside the hotel, however don’t know what we would have done if there wasn’t any, as there was no parking for miles outside the hotel. 

Clean hotel but not worth the money to stay

I have no issues with the hotel at all. This review is to highlight a couple of things people with mobility problems might need to know. There is no wheel chair access. The stairs to the rooms are very steep. There is no disabled parking. If you park on the hotel front don't expect to use your car as you are blocked in. You can park across the road and the hotel will sell you a permit for £2 . So the answer is park on the hotel front and walk everywhere which is what we did or try and get a spot over road. During the day nearly impossible evening plenty of parking.Whitby Town is very close and easy to walk too. 
If you get a sea view it's a great view and we were very lucky to watch Dolphins from our room. 
Our room was a bit dated but very clean and the large window gave us a great view. 
One thing I think it is over priced even with the sea view its NOT a £140 a night room.
