we booked our break almost a year ago and Alan was very helpful
we  were  thrilled with our choice everything about our stay was brilliant 
our room was perfect as was the breakfast
we were able  to come and go as we wished 
constant supply of tea etc lovely shower and clean comfortable beds
we would recommend this b&b to anyone !!!


all we hoped for and more

2 night stay with my daughter in August. I have to say that this guest house was a lot better than I expected a guest house to be. We were greeted by a very friendly owner, who showed us where the dining room was, and then took us to our room ... and what a room!! It was huge and had SKY TV rather than the Freeview rubbish you usually associate with guest houses (and a lot of hotels). There was a smaller room just of the main room with a small desk (perfect for anyone on a business trip), and that led into the bathroom which again was huge. There was the standard toilet, sink and shower, and even a bidet!!.
The room, or rooms were immaculately clean and were cleaned whilst we were out during the day as well. Oh, and Free Wi-Fi throughout was an extra bonus.
Breakfast was very nice, not the massive variation of a major hotel but at this is a small B&B. Having said that, there was fruit and cereal, and fruit juice. There were several options - Traditional English, kippers etc. I had the Traditional English and it was freshly cooked to perfection. There was a choice of tea and coffee as well. A very nice breakfast to start the day.
A short 15 min walk gets you into Whitby harbour, so you're not kept awake by all the drunken ramblers on a night.
On another note, there was ample parking. I asked the proprietor where I could park my car after packing away on the last day, and she said "You'll be ok parked here until you leave for home." I thought that was a very nice touch.
I recommend this place and would definitely stay there again.

Excellent B&B

My husband and I decided to visit Whitby again this year to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary.  We stayed at Mayfields for 2 nights last weekend and found our short stay a very enjoyable one.  We were greeted by the lovely, very cheerful and smiley female owner and were made to feel very welcome.  The service we received was 100% and nothing was too much trouble for the owners.  The room we had was very clean, with all the facilities required for our stay, plenty of wardrobe space and a very large en-suite.  Mayfields is about a 15/20 minute walk into town although we walked back on one occasion as uphill and very tiring after a full day out.  Neither my husband or I hesitated on what to order for breakfast and went for the traditional full English breakfast which was very nice and set us up for the long day ahead of us.  Mayfields is definitely good value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Anniversary Weekend Break

my wife and I stayed at mayfields for one night in may. our room was reasonable but not as good as expected after looking at on-line images. breakfast ok but have experienced much better . not one of our preferred hotels for future.

We stayed at Mayfeilds for just 2 nights but wish it could have been more. Immaculate, generous sized rooms,easy parking and great breakfasts.
We arrived slightly earlier than anticipated but were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome.
Town is a steady 15 min walk downhill,so beware that means the walk back is uphill and in the heat we were lucky to have we cheated and got a taxi back from town.  Lazy I know but hey we are on holiday.
Lovely gem of a guesthouse, can't wait to come back.
