Old Georgian residence with an impressive staircase and quaint, quirky decor. Two very friendly dogs, Bertie and Dew. Great conversation around the fire with Catherine the host and a glass of whiskey. Beautiful breakfast with lots of interesting furniture and artefacts in the dining room. Our bedroom was shabby chic and the house is lovely but needs some TLC. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

A refreshing experience.

Stayed one night while driving the NC500. Beautiful drive up to the home. Love the history and architecture of the home. Cozy bedroom with everything you need from shampoo to tea/coffee in the room.  Breakfast was delicious!  Our favorite was reading by the fire downstairs in the evening with the dogs.  Had lovely conversations with both Catherine and Islay.  We’d love to come back to stay again!!

Beautiful Historical Home

Catherine, her mom and the dogs Bertie and Dew gave us the most warm welcome. Everyone is completely relaxt (except for Dew who’s energy is catching) which makes you as their guest very comfortable. The House is authentic and the breakfast is amazing. We spent two nights here. Really want to come back one day.

Relaxt and comfortable

Very friendly and hospitable stop for B and B. It's not a hotel chain and is quite unique. Lovely evening meals and breakfast. Dog friendly too. Set off the road in the trees. Fly fishing rods available to hire. Own lochs for  fishing

Another lovely stay.

Wonderful welcome from Catherine (and her dogs). Thrumster House has so much character and is very comfortable, a great place to stay as part of a NC500 tour especially if you are travelling with a four legged friend (Brian enjoyed his stay!). Lovely breakfast set us on our way, highly recommend. 

Comfortable, full of character B&B

The house is an old Lairds House and is now run by the family. A wonderful experience, Catherine is a great host, and makes you feel very welcome, offering drinks by the fireside. A lovely ample breakfast. A unique experience not to be missed.

A unique stay

When we booked this as part of the NC500 tour we wasn't sure what to expect, as with any booking really.
But upon arrival we were treated by the owners who were very friendly and there dog too.
Walking into the building was just wow. Something really special about it. The whole place was special and felt like a film set. 
Our room was big, the bed fantastic and we enjoyed a cuppa next to the log fire downstairs. We nearly nodded off it was so nice.

We were advised of a taxi company to use who keeps costs down and they were great. And we headed into Wick which isn't far. If you want to eat at the nearby put the smiddy, book in advance. We couldn't get in but it was the same day.

We would go here again, the breakfast setting was like nothing I've seen before.

A very special place indeed.

We booked a year ago on a recommendation and we were certainly not disappointed! Such a beautiful house, lovely hosts who make you feel so we, a short taxi ride into Wick but easy to do and a fab breakfast! A must stay!

Wonderful place!

Quirky but fantastic and great value for money. Your host, Catherine, is great company and shares her home in a way that is so comfortable and easy and welcoming. Her mum cooks a blinding breakfast. A stop over for us during NC500. Just fab😍😍😍

Fantastic quirky B and B

This was our 3rd stay and always lives up to expectations. Just a lovely welcome, lovely fire and beautiful surroundings. The family are just really nice and genuine. A welcome cup of tea, a truly wonderful 4 course evening meal, comfortable room and a splendid breakfast. The whole setting is just unique. Great for a run in the morning too. 
We will continue to visit when we can. We stop over on our way to the ferry to Orkney. Convenient for either Gill Bay or Scrabster. If you are interested  in Archaeology, there is lots to explore.
