Choose this hotel due to its Location directly across the road from the hospital!
Unfortunately my mum is in Hospital with a broken ankle so I had to travel down from Cumbria to check she was ok and for peace of mind!
Confusion on arrival because entrance to hotel was actually around the back, but we entered wrongly through the front bar door!
Greeted kindly by a lady who checked us in and allowed my sister (who gave us a lift to the hotel) to park around the back!
Family room was a massive L shaped room. A little dated but clean with new duvets on two of the beds! Room was very cold but soon warmed up once provided with two heaters by the staff thanks very much!
Note for maintenance staff one off the beds is missing two wheels on diagonal ends which made the bed tip up one side. The television and hairdryer both don’t work and may need looking at!
Had a comfortable nights sleep, didn’t hear much noise from the party happing downstairs but there’s quite a bit off noise from what sounds like air trapped in water pipes, funnily we have the same problem at home!!
Website I think needs updating, as it quotes a family room at £70 a night and we was charged £85.

Hospital Connivence 

We would like to leave a review from having our wedding reception at the Bellingham Hotel on 17th August 2019. All dealing we had with Sharon the manager was fantastic. We really can't thank her enough, we had organised this 12 months ago, all communication with Sharon was second to none and a complete pleasure, she was always on hand for any questions or ideas we had or needed. Sharon had even organised a red carpet for our arrival and was even waiting for us to arrive to assure us all was well before our arrival was announced to our guests. This really was our best day ever, the room was simply beautiful and was all organised and decorated by Sharon. Great prices on drinks and a fantastic atmosphere, we will always have any additional party's here it was simply "GREAT" We stayed in the bridal suite which was very clean, big and comfortable, we was greeted in the morning by friendly staff and a beautiful full English breakfast, toast and lots of tea and coffee, My new husband stayed at the hotel the night before with his best man and some of his family and says the same clean and comfortable, with great food, nothing was to much trouble for Sharon and her staff. She was always reassuring my new husband  the morning of the wedding that all will be well.
I can’t stress enough that our wedding night really was FANTASTIC and this could not of been achieved without the Bellingham Hotel, Sharon and her staff, so thankyou all so so much and see you again sometime soon. A great choice for our evening wedding reception.

We booked my mums wedding reception here and from the start we were being told completely different prices and infomation every time we communicated with the hotel eventhough you would have thought staff would have access to clear price lists etc. We had booked 2 rooms to get ready in but when we arived on the morning of the wedding there was only a car park attendant in the whole hotel who was lovely but had no idea about our booking and couldn't even access keys etc. After a 45minute wait we were given keys to 1 of the rooms with a MUA waiting to do 4 make ups in tow who was also frustrated about running behind. The room was disgusting and hadn't been cleaned after previous guests. After speaking to the cleaner she opened another room which was even worse! I asked the carpark attendant to get in touch with the manager who after not even apologising told him to open another room for us. This one was clean but the heating was broken and on full wack which for a hot august day meant the room was sweltering even with the fan we'd brought from home! Apparently there was nothing they could do. Eventually we spoken to another member of staff who thought we was only returning 2 hours later than when we'd booked to room from. Even after paying £100 for the bar to be opened it only opened at 6pm eventhough we'd guests were arriving from 4pm. The manager approached a member of the wedding party to ask of the room dresser would be returning at MIDNIGHT to undress the room! When i questioned such a ridiculous request she threatened that if i didnt undress the room before we left they would actually use the decoration i had hired and paid for for a wedding that was being held there the following day. When i asked why she didn't mention anything 12hours earlier when i was on the phone to her regarding the filthy rooms she blamed other members of staff and didn't bother even apologising or trying to resolve the issue. I told her that i was sure the room dresser would be back early the following morning but she continued to be rude and argumentative. Bar staff even apologised for the managers behaviour and were agreeing with the poor running of the place. Definetly would not have another fuction here!!

Disaster from the start

Absolute terrible service.... Booked my wedding reception here and paid deposit on 4th December 2018 for August 2019.i tried to contact them in June to sort details regarding tables/chair covers etc to not be contacted back until 7th July 2019... (6 weeks before my wedding) to then be told they had double booked me and I couldn't have my reception there the other party was a 'big wedding' and mine was only the reception and they had apparently booked and paid their party in October 2018. Baring in mind that I had personalised invitations made and printed and sent out in December 2018....

This is disgusting!! 

If I could score zero stars I would but you have to put a minimum of 1 star...

Wedding venue

Attempted to book for a family function (daughters 21st). Was told that the manager would contact me. Next day got phone call and Was sternly  advised that “we don’t do birthday parties between 18-21”. When I questioned why I was advised to speak to manager....

I thought I was talking to the manager? Apparently she can’t be bothered to contact me!

When I asked would it make a difference if she was 22 was told that would be fine (missed the joke there). Attempted to explain that it was a family doo (me grandad is coming and he’s 91, can’t see him causing trouble) but was told no functions for under 21. 

We had a doo for wife’s 40th a few years ago which was great. I believe it’s under new management and I worry for you. Just out of interest would we be able to book out a function room for a wedding if the bride was 20? Surely this is ageist? Pretty sure you don’t mind taking money from under 21’s when they come in your pub? 

Was really upset at first but now I’m relieved and feel I’ve dodged a bullet! With this sort of attitude this place will soon be changing manager again. The only function I’d ever consider there in the future would be my funeral so I wouldn’t have to go - assuming I fit Hyacinth Bucket’s age criteria of course.

Lucky Escape

This place is in need of a huge refurb - prices are reasonable but the place is stuck in the 80s,as is the political views of the people in charge going off the "Vote Tommy Robinson" European election flyers that were placed everywhere.
 I won't knowingly give money to someone who endorses that man.

Stuck in the past.

Only stayed one night. Cheap prices, which upon seeing the hotel and rooms is understandable. Looks well worn and really needs a refurb.

Rooms were large, beds comfortable, but TV had very poor signal and was unusable. A party was booked in whilst we were there which meant they were unable to offer us any breakfast, something that we were not made aware of before booking.

On a plus side plenty of parking space, and very friendly, helpful staff.

Would probably look elsewhere if I needed to stay longer than one night. 

Ideal as a crash pad.

Nothing short of awful. The room just plain stank! We were on the first floor!! The mattress I think was last replaced when the hotel was built.  Breakfast is included provided you get down early enough as they only have a set amount of food for the day and once that’s gone its gone and it’s not their fault apparently, it’s down to you be be at breakfast earlier so someone else goes without it not you!..  There were about 45 of us on an ANUAL Doo. At least 5 of us went without breakfast and 3 of us were down more than 30 mins before breakfast ended. But we were told with a smile that nothing was left. The manager stormed off when one of the party asked for at least some money back. 
The Saturday nights food was ok but I had to eat my soup with a plastic tea spoon. One guy refused to do that and drank it from the bowl. Someone asked for real spoons and some were sent out and once they were gone people were back to either plastic tea spoons or straight up drinking from the bowl. It wasn’t that hot so no fear of burning yourself. 
This was not a pleasant experience for us. My partner and I our belly’s were rumbling bad at the cenotaph. 
The board outside that claims “Famous” did give us all a laugh though. As we each told our woes of the hotel. 1 of our group found a used Condom in the draw and asked for the room to be cleaned properly . 
All in all this is a run down, badly managed, poorly kept hotel. The bar was bright enough and they certainly made money over that. Linda and I certainly won’t be staying there ever again. Our friends stayed at weatherspoons for a full £2.50 more than we pai because.... No one at the hotel got back to them while they were trying to book a room. I suggest you do the same or shop around more. IF our group President says we are having our Doo there again next year and we have to dine there then that is all we will do. I certainly won’t go back to stay next year or ever. As for drinking there?? If we go back I may even drive. But that is more out of principle. I’ve never felt compelled to leave a negative review on here as I know how damaging it can be but if we didn’t then nothing at that place will change.

Ssshhh ITE Avoid if at all possible.

Fab pub and hotel. Prices cheaper than Wetherspoons and you don't have to pay to park if your a guest or customer of the hotel or bar.
Silcock Suite recently refurbished along with reception, bar area, kitchens and hotel rooms. 5 star food and hygiene rating recently awarded and well deserved. Well done Team Bellingham

Fab friendly place full of character

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on the 11th and 12th may, what a warm friendly and wonderful stay we had, nothing was too much trouble at all. The room was fantastic and the staff was 1st class, so much so that we have booked for the same weekend next year. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
