Had a wonderful stay at Hillcrest House earlier this month. Wonderful service from Nic who was ever so welcoming. Three course meal available Monday to Thursday, which we were lucky enough to be able to have on our day of arrival on the Thursday, which was outstanding. Great breakfasts each morning. Room was lovely with everything we needed. Would 100% be back!

Highly recommended! Wonderful stay!

This was a stop overnight for us and was so very welcoming. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed comfy, nice to have dressing gowns and the place warm on a cold night. Nic and Andy were very welcoming. We most certainly would visit again, hopefully for longer as it seemed a lovely area.

Hillcrest is beautiful place just a short walk from the town centre, in a quiet residential street. Rooms are large, airy and comfortable, the welcome is very warm and breakfast was fantastic. There's plenty of free parking available as well as on-street parking, which is also free.

Massive rooms and a warm welcome

We stayed in the R. Burns room, on the ground floor, very large and comfortable with a simply operated walk-in shower with grab rails and seat. There is a very pleasant view from the room. The hosts are extremely pleasant and obliging and the breakfast is excellent.

Senior friendly room and delicious breakfast

We spent 3 nights at Hillcrest House and could not have been looked after better by Nic andf Andy.  The rooms were large and spotless. The views of the countryside felt like looking at a picture.  The home cooked food was excellent.  There is free parking on site and it is less than 5 minutes walk from the cetre of Wigtown and the 14 bookshops that make it Scotland's booktown.

If we have the chance to return we will certainly try to book-in at Hillcrest again.

Excellent place to stay in Wigtown

We loved our stay so much we extended it by another night! Spotlessly clean, comfortable accommodation with friendly owners who did everything possible to make your stay perfect. We had booked dinner for two nights which was delicious and very good value. Also worth mentioning is the extensive drinks menu to be enjoyed with dinner or as a night cap. Thank you Nic and Andy we will be back.

Fabulous and relaxing stay

We visited this Hotel for two nights with friends who had stayed before and highly recommended it. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the owners Andy and Nic. After being shown to our room Spark after  Muriel Spark all rooms are named after Authors - very appropriate for Wigtown.  We had booked dinner for both nights and so pleased we had as the food was delicious. Andy uses all local produce and makes the meals from scratch. Both nights we had delicious starters, main and desserts very plentiful and at a reasonable cost. Really good wine list too. Breakfast is chosen the previous night and is cooked fresh with cereal, yogurts and an extensive array of preserves. Our friends had their dog with them and the hotel is happy to accommodate dogs in the rooms. Spark is one of the rooms not used for dogs. Our room was spacious and with a very comfortable large bed and quiet we slept really well. Bathroom is modern and plenty of towels and toiletries.

A well run small hotel modern but with original features

This is our second year stopping at Hillcrest on a mid week break, monday to friday.  I cannot speak highly enough on the way Nic and Andy looked after us.  Great breakfast.  We had three generous and tasty evening meals.  Large spacious hotel and garden. Well situated to explore the area and in our case the golf courses, in fact the Wigtown course is 200m away from the hotel.  We have already booked again for next year.

Golf break in a most excellent hotel

Andy and Nic are wonderful hosts and made our stay in the lovely Hillcrest House a pleasure. Their professionalism and attention to detail is first-class. It takes a lot of work, money and care to provide this level of service and we highly recommend Hillcrest House. Our room (M Spark) was warm, spotlessly clean, and furnished and finished to a high standard, with a lovely view. Our breakfast was first class, and we will definitely return to Hillcrest House - and for a longer stay next time.

An enjoyable stay at at perfect B & B.

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful B&B. The hosts Andy & Nic are so friendly, kind, thoughtful and efficient. Our room was superb - clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was superbly cooked by Andy and was very tasty and the ingredients were locally sourced. Wigtown is a very interesting town and has some places to eat a meal but also the B&B provides an evening meal on certain nights which you would have to check with beforehand. Otherwise there are some nice restaurants not too far away. We hope to be back again to this lovely B&B before too long.
