Lovely food
We pulled off the A303 on the way to taking our daughter to university. It was a really hot day. The staff were friendly. We ordered standard pub grub; a jacket potato, a baguette and a veggie burger. It all came really nicely presented with a lovely fresh side salad and was tasty. A really nice fin

What an absolute delight it was to stay at dolphin . The staff are warm and welcoming and Liz and John the landlord could not do enough for me. They made me feel very welcome and as I am crutches helped me with walking my dog and with any other special needs I had. The rooms are spotless as is the

A real teat in a traditional family hostelry
After not going out for various reasons over the past few months a walk across the road to The Dolphin for Sunday lunch was a real treat.
The food was delicious and plentiful and it was served up, piping hot, by lovely people. Isobel and I dined in their ‘family room’ and that was a delight. All too

Amazing New Restaurant - The Stables at the Dolphin
There is a Michelin Star restaurant in a nearby village but from what we just experienced at the Dolphin, Wincanton could have one in the near future and I don't make that statement lightly.

On a 4 hours journey from Hampshire to North Cornwall, I only got one hour into the three hour journey before dark wet stormy abysmal driving conditions made me feel unsafe and I was really tired anyway.
I wanted a bed for the night. Googling options brought up this gem.

Perfect hosts, comfortable stay
I recently stayed at The Dolphin in a family room (1 twin, 1 double) with my son and mother, it was great to have a family room with adjoining door. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were spotless. Ample provision of teas/coffees in the room along with the important biscuits!
We ate a fan

I stayed at the Dolphin 11-14 July. This was my 4 stay as always very enjoyable. Dave and Jeannine now run it there putting so much hard work into getting it even better. Congratulations on all your hard work I think it’s going to be an even more special place to stay . I also left my watch which th
