We are real foodies and the chef is yet to disappoint. We seem to be here nearly every week making our way through the menu 🙈 The staff are always friendly and assertive. The owners have done such an incredible transformation and we feel very lucky to call this our local. Highly recommend!

Favourite place to eat!

Had a lovely birthday meal at the Northbrook Arms with my family. Food was superb and the waitress even supplied some colouring in bits for my nephew. 
The food was delicious I had the cod with herb crust and it was extremely filling to the point I could not do pudding.

Had their Sunday lunch, in the new glass extension.
You could not hold a conversation with the person opposite.
Then the coffee machine starts, and to round it off, piped musak.
There are too many tables for the limited space. Had to go into the bar area to have a chat. 
The food was OK, not great.
We were given a pile of carrots. I like carrots, but if your paying £26. Carrots don't do it, when we have a brilliant seasonal selection...
Improvements needed all round.
Splash of lemonade in my beer.... Ninety pence.!!!
Stick with just beer.
Will not dash back.

Sunday lunch

Staying locally at Forest Holidays for the weekend so pre-booked before we came....just as well, it was really busy - good sign they're getting it right & we weren't disappointed!   Very friendly welcome, attentive staff, fabulous lunch great value for money  - best roast I've had couldn't fault it, compliments to the chef 👨‍🍳🤗. Thanks to all the team, it was fabulous.  We will return with our Stag Owners Club members soon!

The Best Pub Sunday Roast 😋

After a long day playing tourist in Salisbury, we stopped in here for a quick drink on our way back to our cottage. Despite it being mothers day and it being absolutely solidly booked, they had 2 seats at the bar left which we could take. Result! Despite the one bartender being extremely busy, he served us quickly and still managed to make small talk whilst prepping the other drinks.
We already had plans for dinner, but the dishes that we saw looked well presented and both of us commented on how big the portion sizes were.

Happy pit-stop on Mother's Day

We have just returned from a stay at Plough Cottage, accommodation to the rear of The Northbrook Arms, East Stratton.The March weather was cold & unpleasant, but the charming, well equipped cottage was a lovely oasis for the 6 of us. Everything was spotlessly clean & there were clear instructions & advice regarding our stay.

Communication before, during and afterwards was excellent & the staff were welcoming & helpful, both in the pub and around the cottage.

The kitchen had everything necessary to cook, eat & clean up. There were basic foods for us on arrival in the fridge and on the table. (milk, bread, butter, jams etc). Everything worked! Water was hot when needed.

The lounge was cosy with plenty of chairs, a log burner and coffee table. Perfect for relaxing in the evenings.

All bedrooms were well furnished, had comfortable beds, storage and super en suite bathrooms. It was quiet, curtains blocked out the light in the morning and there was good heating that could be adjusted.

The pub was open all day and served good food from a varied menu. The owners are enterprising reducing the floor space of the pub to provide extra accommodation. They are still innovating and the facilities can only get better.

We thought the accommodation was competitively priced for a stay in a rural village in reasonable proximity to Winchester. There is also currently a bus service into town on two days a week. It would be great if visitors used this to help keep the service running.

Good wifi & outside facilities, walks for when the weather is better. First rate TVs & channel choice

Highly recommended & I suggest you book direct, rather than use airbnb which would mean higher prices.

Excellent accommodation & service

My family including 4 month old baby met with good friends at this lovely pub as it is exactly halfway between our home locations. Turned out we didn’t take our dog although he too would have been welcome. We had a selection of starters between us and all were delicious and very freshly prepared. Mains of burger, scampi, ham/egg/chips and the Thai salad were all great. Only slight disappointment was the sticky toffee pudding as it appeared a microwave mediocre version but we ignored this as the rest of the experience had given the lunch stop a big tick. Well done on the development so far - we will be returning to view the rest!

Lovely food, welcoming staff & perfect location for us

We stayed in The Old Bakery, an absolutely perfect location for us, as just two people staying it was perfect. The log burner in the living room was an absolute delight! Will definitely be staying again!

Amazing!

Stayed in the old bakery last weekend and thought we would only pop in the pub when we were booked in for Sunday lunch. Erm no, this place was so good and staff and locals so friendly we were in there a lot!! Sunday roast was amazing too, thanks to all that made our weekend so great.  

Gem of a place

We were 'saved' by Kate & Adam at the Northbrook Arms in December when our boiler broke down just before Christmas & the weather was freezing so not ideal to stay at home!  
We were lucky to book into Plough Cottage for a week which was outstanding!  The entire cottage is wonderfully decorated and we had the addition of a Christmas Tree in the lounge which made it feel even more home from home.
The addition of a welcome pack of bread & condiments was also a thoughtful touch.  Having the pub next door is also handy, with fantastic food options on the menu - every meal we had was delicious.
We only live down the road so wouldn't normally stay over, however, would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area (or anyone local suffering from a broken boiler..).
