We have just returned from a 3 night stay in the Coniston Retreat and could not find a single fault. From the minute we arrived, everything was perfect. The lodge is stunning and immaculately clean. Every detail is thought out and there wasn’t a thing missing. The location is perfect and the views are stunning. We will definitely be returning and booking the lodge again. Highly recommend 

Perfect stay

I'm on day 5 of a weeks holiday at Avon Wood, this is our 4th booking here, so tells you how good it is, we are in the Gumners How Retreat fir the 2nd time in 2yrs, the lodge is Amazing as usual spotlessly clean, immaculate, EVERY single thing you could possibly need and more, Andrew and Christine (owners) very helpful if you need anything at all, hot tub undercover which is great when it rains ect, this is the best lodge we have stayed in, everything is PERFECT not 1 single thing to complain about, lovely home from home, if you want relaxation, peace and rest, don't hesitate book Avon Wood

Back again 4th time

2nd stay at Avon Wood and I will be back. Amazing location, so quiet a fantastic place to get away from it all. We stayed in Gummers How which had everything we needed.
Views were amazing, excellent place to watch the jets fly by. Great base, we visited Keswick, Ambleside, Kendal, Bowness, Blackpool & Ulverston where we had a fabulous Sunday lunch in The Farmers Arms.

Perfect

We travelled here as a couple for a 4 night stay lodge was beautiful had everything you needed in it and for it only being a one bedroom lodge it felt really big.  Location of the lodge is about 10 minutes drive to bowness you can get a bus from the top of the hill then taxi back which wasn't that expensive. If you like peace and quiet then this is for you we absolutely loved it went out during the day then relaxed at night in the hot tub. The people who own the park are lovely nothing was a bother to them they even give you a bottle of cava box chocolates and some milk to start you off. We would definitely return and recommend. 

4 night stay

We've just come back from staying at Rydal retreat at Avon wood and what a lovely stay it was!
The lodge had a beautiful view and the weather was perfect . 
The lodge was like brand new it was clean to a high spec . There were little touches left for us like packs of skittles and even an Easter egg. 
The guy that checked us in was super helpful even printed us a bus timetable.  
Highly recommend.

What a lovely place!

We have just returned from a week's stay at Gummer How, lodge was immaculate and all furniture was very new looking and in pristine condition. We loved the homley touches in the lodge, sometimes  holiday lodges can look a little bare but the thought put into the lodge at Avon Wood by the owners was very much appreciated.  This included the bottle of prosecco,  chocolates and little treats with tea and coffee. 
The location of gummer how , has beautiful views of Lake windemere and as we were on the hill sitting in the hot tub felt as if we were among the tree tops.  Lodge is very private.
Easy drive, or taxi to bowness,  bus only runs in the afternoon but times worked out for a Sunday roast lunch.
We had a fantastic relaxing break and can highly recommend Gummers How and would like to thank Avon Wood for our wonderful stay.

Fantastic lodge

We stayed in Blakeholme Lodge 2 which had a verandah overlooking Lake Windermere which was partly obscured by the tree canopy but nonetheless it was a superb view and a relaxing space to sit. Lodge was also very private from the adjacent caravans / lodges due to well planned hedging. Lodge spotlessly clean and attentively equipped with everything you might need and more and very well appointed. Watch out for the nutcase holiday coach / bus drivers on the stretch of road outside the lodge as the road is narrow in places and we had a tyre blow out due to having to swerve to the side of the road to avoid hitting an oncoming tourist coach on the other side whose driver didn't give a monkeys. This took up a day of our holiday as we then had to drive to Barrow to get a new tyre with the RAC. Take it steady. Avon Wood is a fantastic place to stay and whose owners are friendly and clearly have high standards and it is ideally situated for the south lakes and attractions. Avoid Bowness though. It is a tourist trap and chaos.

Beautiful small holiday park with amazing views.

A gorgeous lodge in beautiful secluded park. The lodge has everything you need. It was immaculate both inside and out, we have been to lodges which are lovely but they had even taken the time to ensure there were no cobwebs on the outside of the lodge or on the garden furniture. There was a slight issue with the door lock which we reported and we received a text only a few hours later to say it was all sorted. The lodge is a great base to explore both the Lake District and Yorkshire. I would highly recommend both the park and this lodge and we will definitely be going back in the future

Amazing location

We booked a week to have a relaxing break away and this was exactly what we had.
The lodge Gummers How Retreat was spotless, home from home and had an amazing view of the lake.
We were greeted by the owner and shown how to use the hot tub.
On arrival we discovered that we had been given an Easter card and Easter eggs each, as well as a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates.
There was a selection of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and milk for a needed drink.
The area is beautiful and we visited some lovely places, returning each evening to a soak in the hot tub.
We will definitely return someday and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area.

Easter break

We have just had a fantastic week at Avon wood in Gummers Row everything you will ever need is there never been there before but have booked again for next year it was the best holiday we have ever had the accommodation was absolutely spotless as was the jacuzzi which we used every day we was greeted on arrival by the park owner a very nice man showed us the accommodation and how the jacuzzi worked then left us to it we cant praise the park enough well maintained neat and tidy with a beautiful view over lake Windermere to wake up to every morning even tho it did rain for the first three days but we didnt care with settings like this the weather doesnt matter thank you for a fantastic week at your beautiful park and see you next year
