What a lovely little guest house! 
We arrived after 7pm which was no problem, no space in the car park itself but plenty space on the road directly outside the guest house. We had been emailed the morning of our arrival with the ‘self check in’ details, the instructions were easy to follow, we stayed in room 3, a lovely sized room with a four poster bed, wardrobe space, dressing table, and a good sized ensuite shower room. 
Breakfast was a continental style- porridge pots, cereal bar, fresh fruit, warmed croissants. Served to your door at 9am - it was perfect for us as it was our first weekend away without our small kids in 18 months so it was a real luxury having a peaceful breakfast in bed!! 
The shower was fab! Nice and powerful! 
Great location 10 minute walk to Bowness-on-Windermere, 10 minutes to Windermere. Plenty restaurants, bistro’s, coffee shops to choose from. Highly recommend Tapios Tapas in Windermere! Unfortunately the weather was atrocious but pleasantly surprised to find a small old fashioned cinema which happened to be showing James Bond! 
We would definitely return again (hoping for better weather next time!)

Lovely guest house, great location.

My wife and I stopped for four nights to  this lovely place,staff was friendly,polite and helpful,our room was big and spotless.Car park and a nice  front garden to have a sit are provided. Situated in perfect position was very easy to walk to Windermere and Bowness.

Great experience

We stayed here for 3 nights. The communication was perfect, we knew exactly what to expect and what to do. 
The room was clean but small. Particularly the bathroom. The shower was especially tight. 
The breakfast was nice but I wish there was a bit more of a selection as we had the same food for 3 days. It might be worth considering a breakfast order sheet with different options of pastries or breakfast cereals to change it up. 
It was well worth the price for the area. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Would definitely recommend

Stayed 2 nights from 13th August. Communication  great from when we booked.  Email on day giving details  of self check in and other information  required. We arrived about an hour or so early but had been told it was fine to park the car, which we did to make the most of our time. There were few spaces and never a problem whilst we were there with parking on the road outside.  Our room was decorated lovely, Grasmere room, full length mirror too, our bathroom having a good shower cubicle.  We had been aware since booking a good few months ago about the continental breakfast being delivered to room, I did think it may have changed by time we went but it's  still operating this way. We found enough to eat in the breakfast box, a pot of golden syrup porridge to make, bowl of fruit, consisting  of  melon, strawberries  and grapes,  croissant each with butter,  jam and honey packs, a fruit thick and creamy  yogurt each and alpen  bar each, and small bottle of orange each. Quite sufficient,  but found it a bit of a sweetness overload for breakfast time, with salted caramel bar, and all the sweet flavours, but maybe just me.  The timing of 9am being delivered was a bit later than we like personally as usually like to be on our way out by then and felt we were hanging round waiting, but again that's  a personal preference. Everywhere  looked  and smelt fresh and clean and we love the location, a little away from the hustle  and  bustle  of windermere  and  bowness but an easy walk to either and bus stop opposite for Grasmere,  Ambleside etc.

Weekend break

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of July and couldn't have wished for a better stay. The check in was very swift with an email with all the details required. The room was spotlessly clean (we stayed in Grassmere), the bed was very comfy and the shower was brilliant.The breakfast box each morning was lovely and had more than enough for the two of us. We will happily stay here again.

Perfect weekend stay

Just spent a couple of nights here and would stay again. Checking in and gaining access to the property was all automated and simple to do.  It was the cheapest guest house I could find with in a short walk to Bowness beach. Also the continental breakfast was better than I expected. There was only one let down though, there were a number of spiders in our room in the corners of the ceiling.

The hotel is in a good location, the communication after booking this hotel was exceptional. Good to have a list of restaurant 
 recommendations. Private parking, the down fall was we were expecting a fully cooked breakfast when we booked it, it didn't say you would NOT get a full English especially for the price we paid, but instead due to covid we were only give a continental breakfast which consisted of Porridge but not hot milk to make it with and I don't use water, a yoghurt, a croissant or gluton free bap, butter and Jam, a small bowl of fruit which you shared between 2 people a biscuit bar and some orange juice. Served to your door at 9am,The room that we had was comfortable but we got woken up each morning  to the bin men emptying the bins at 5.50am. The garden needs a good ride up and the table and chairs outside need cleaning. Having said all that I would stay again but only if a Full English breakfast was served. We had other friend that were staying in various other hotels paid less and get a Full breakfast, the standard may not have been the same but its a bed at the end of the day.

Easy walking distance to bowness or Windermere . Check in was self automated and easy . Lovely old Victorian building but needing some outside work and  a garden spruce up . Room was very clean , bathroom modern and clean . Bed reasonably comfy . Secure onsite parking a bonus . Continental breakfast delivered to the room was fresh and plentiful . Bad points were the outside in need of TLC and our room was very small it was difficult to move around , walls very thin we were awoken many times by next doors bathroom extractor fan which was very noisy and came on from 3.30 am on and off until we checked out at 10am so we had little sleep . It’s a shame that ignorant neighbours spoilt our stay , I doubt we would return again .

One night stopover

Chestnuts guest house could not do enough for us. We’ve had the best time. The room was spacious, clean and modern. 
Breakfast in bed served in the morning with fresh baked croissants just perfect will definitely be coming back. Location is also brilliant just a short walk to the lake and bars/restaurants

Perfect

Had a lovely stay for my partners birthday, loved waking up to the smell of breakfast outside the door. Room was lovely and clean and the guest house itself was lovely. Was lovely to have a recommended restaurants list. Area was lovely and the guest house was conveniently located to the lake and the town. 

Only issue we found was that the pillows were a little uncomfortable and we did wake up in the mornings with a stiff neck but that could be down to us being used to really soft pillows. 

Overall I would highly recommend and would visit again!
