I loved staying at Jane & Paul’s place.  The hardest thing I had to do each day was to get out of the super comfortable bed. The generous breakfast offerings lured me from the bed. I was so full, I skipped lunch and found wonderful tea shops each day within an easy walk. Everything was very clean, and the room was quiet. There was ample street parking. Jane & Paul we’re extremely knowledgeable about the area - what to do, see, times to go, and recommended great restaurants based on my tastes.  It is conveniently located within a short walk of Windermere & Burton on Windermere.  (My traveling companion is in her 80’s and we had no problem walking in either direction.). I only wished that I had planned to stay longer.

Great Place to Stay!

We’ve just returned from a 4 night stay at Montfort Cottage and it was a lovely break. Jane and Paul are super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cooked breakfast was really lovely, we had it every morning and it set us up for the day! We stayed in a lovely double room with en-suite with soft towels and toiletries for our use. Tea & Coffee provided in the room as well. Would recommend this guest house to anyone. Windemere and Bowness are gorgeous places to visit, plus Grasmere, Ambleside and Keswick. Some very good restaurants within easy reach. I would recommend The Westmorland, The Flying Pig and Vinegar Jones. 

Lovely comfortable Guest house for our 4 night break away. 

We returned to Montfort Cottage guest house for the fourth time to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. As on our 3 previous visits, Jane and Paul were the perfect hosts and could not have done any more to make our stay any more enjoyable. This included preparing the room with Anniversary decorations I had sent prior to our visit.
Our room was absolutely superb and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Breakfast was as good as ever and served in a very homely dining room.

A trip to The Lakes wouldn’t be the same without staying at Montfort Cottage, highly recommended.👍

Perfect 10th Anniversary Weekend stay

My partner and I recently enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Montfort Cottage. It was the perfect base for our visits to Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere, Grasmere and Ambleside. 

Jane and Paul were so friendly and welcoming and have made their beautiful guest house a real home from home. We stayed in the Windermere room, which had a huge and comfy super kingsize bed. The house itself and the area were very peaceful and we both slept really well. The bathroom was spotless and the complimentary toiletries were a great touch. 

Breakfast was delicious and both Paul and Jane were very attentive and helpful, offering extra toast and coffee and providing very useful advice for places to visit and events going on in the area.

The amenities were fantastic too. We made use of the iron, hairdryer and fan during our stay and it saved us some luggage space knowing these were available! 

Parking was free which was a huge bonus and we didn’t have any trouble finding a space despite it being a particularly busy weekend with the amazing weather and an event at Lake Windermere. 

I would definitely recommend Montfort Cottage to anyone considering a stay in the area. It was very reasonably priced, excellent customer service and an amazing experience all round. I’m sure we will be back in the future!

Stayed for a week and had the best week
Room was what we needed/wanted
Nice and clean bed was super comfy so had good night sleeps
Bathroom had toiletries so didn't need to bring my own shall be buying some as was nice
Breakfast was a pre order night before but that worked for us
Food was hot and delicious kept us going for the whole day
Bnb is in a great spot and is a credit to Jane and Paul they do a great job super friendly and helpful 



A great stay 

This property is fantastic starting with the hosts Jane and Paul very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and surrounding areas .the room we had was clean very comfortable really good also the breakfast was really nice and well presented with lots of options really really good can't recommend this place enough if your thinking about booking this place please do so it's very good can't wait to stay again thanks Jane and Paul for a special stay made our trip fantastic. This place is fantastic in a fabulous location. 

Jane and Paul are excellent hosts, very welcoming and made us feel at home as soon as we walked through the front door. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was delicious as well there being other alternatives such as cereals, fruit and yogurt available. Good value for money and within walking distance to all amenities. Would highly recommend Montford Cottage Guest House if you are looking for a pleasant experience in Windermere. Thank you both for a very enjoyable stay.

Fabulous Stay

We stayed in the Thirlmere room. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.  The bed was very comfy and The breakfast was so good! Just a short walk to the centre. Would definitely stop again and highly recommend to anyone thinking about staying.

2 night stay

A picture perfect little cottage awaits you. 
We stayed overnight in the Thirlmere room.  The room feels really welcoming and has all the usual amenities you would expect to find in a larger establishment.  The comfiest of beds ensures an excellent night's sleep and the surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. Around 10 mins walk takes you into town where there are ample shops, bars and restaurants and of course you can take a boat trip around the lakes or take yourself off on one of the many walks. 
Breakfast can be delivered to your room however the small breakfast room is well appointed to provide you with a very good start to your day. You can also plan your day out with the assistance of your hosts, Paul & Jane who are incredibly warm and welcoming ensuring all their guests have the most enjoyable stay.
You will most definately leave with a smile on your face if you choose to stay here.

Perfect little gem!

This is an easy review to write as our hosts Paul and Jane were the perfect hosts. We were greeted on Monday  lunchtime and just knew straight away we were going to hit it off. They were full of fun from the start. Nothing was any bother to them and if you needed anything for the room you just needed to ask. The room was clean and had everything you needed. It had a tea tray, shampoo, shower gel, hand wash, cotton buds, cottonwool hairdryer to ironing board and iron. The bed was super comfy as was the pillows. We were asked to give our breakfast order the night before in person or just to text. Breakfast was superb. The full English filled you for best part of the day and the waffles with berries was to die for. The guest house is within 10 minutes walking distance of Windermere and Bowness. Lots to see and do, ideal for walkers. I would recommend this guest house without any doubt to anyone wanting to visit the area. Well done Paul and Jane and we'll see youse again soon.
