We spent 3 enjoyable nights at Holmelea everywhere was very clean with Hand sanitizer in the hall and plenty of social distancing at breakfast so we felt very safe.Breakfast was ordered the night before with a good choice of cereal juice and cooked breakfast. our room was at the front of the B&B and was very comfortable and although Kendal Road  is quite busy we didn't here any traffic and slept.well Holmelea has parking facilities and is only a short walk to bowness town and front This is the 3rd time we have stayed and feel it is good value price wise and find Jill and John a very nice couple

September visit to bowness

We arrived to a less than warm welcome from Jill.Room was small and needed updating. TV very small. A4 size piece of paper. We booked for 3 nights however had to leave early as woke with really sore backs from the bed. We gracefully mentioned to the owner that we had woken up with sore backs after staying0 and was experiencing stuffy noses and tight chests which did ease when we left. Possibly dust? We were deeply upset at Jill's reaction. The outburst from Jill was completely uncalled for and as customers we were treated terribly. The owner at first refused to refund us for 1 night stay and then exploded rudly by stating we were wrong as she stormed out of the dining room, slamming a door, leaving us alone with her partner who was obviously very embarrassed by her behaviour. In complete shock at how rude she was we left early and ended our holiday at the guesthouse. We cannot recommend and was deeply disappointed with the way we were treated. A great shame after reading so many great reviews. Sadly not our experience at all. I must point out that the hotel have a paper breakfast system which you fill out and give back before 8pm so they know what you want the next day. We filled it out and left it for them at 5pm. We got up and sat downstairs for breakfast only to be told that because we had put an x in the box and not a tick she hadn't made us anything. Completely unacceptable. We were astonished that she was seriously saying this to us. It was filled out the night before as asked so for us it was just a power trip that she didn't want to make up breakfast despite us pre paying for it. 
No apology. Disgraceful. You should be ashamed at the way you treated your guests. Safe to say we will not return.

Ruined our holiday

Gill & John were excellent hosts & made us feel at home from our arrival 
Bedroom & breakfast rooms were spotlessly clean & breakfast was hot & good selection. Private parking on site, located close to all amenities & 5 min walk down hill to the lake.
Would highly recommend & will be returning ourselves.

Lovely 4 night retreat

Stayed for 2 nights, private off road parking (which is a must for me) lovely breakfast yum yum ...
Covid strict too which makes you feel better. 
Thank you Holmlea for a lovely stay, would return if or when we return ...

LOVELY LITTLE B&B

Very pleasant guest house. Comfortable,clean and convenient. Only 3 minutes walk to shops restaurants, pubs and tour boats. Hosts, Gill and John very helpful and friendly. Rooms and breakfast nice. On site parking a bonus. 
A great choice if you're planning to visit Windermere Lake.

Very Nice Guest House

Just returned from our 2nd visit to holmlea Gill and John are very nice and welcoming the b&b is very clean and rooms have good selection of tea and coffee hot chocolate and water as well as shower gell .holmlea is just a short walk from both the lake and shopping centre of bowness their is a good choice of breakfast ranging from cereal fruit juice yogurt as well as a cooked breakfast with toast and jams etc  and tea and coffee which was very enjoyable all at a very reasonable price.

Sunny weekend in bowness

Thank you so much Jill for a lovely 3 night stay for Philip and I and our two friends who joined us for two nights.  Your guest house is immaculate and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful with lots of choice. The bedrooms were spacious, light and airy and they together with the bathrooms were spotless. You made us feel very welcome.  This guesthouse is in a fantastic location being only a couple of minutes from the centre and lake. A great idea having the breakfast form to fill in the night before. We stayed in room 3 which was a lovely double room with a bay window on the front. The complimentary shower gels etc were a nice touch.  Buying the boat tickets from you gave us a good discount. A lovely stay and one we shall repeat as soon as we are able.  We have passed on your details to our friends and once again many thanks for a wonderful stay.  Anne and Philip Berry

Our birthday visit

This is a lovely guest house in a beautiful location just a few minutes walk from the Town centre and lake,
Our hosts were very friendly and polite, and the breakfast was absolutely spot on and very filling, Our double room was comfy clean and quiet.
I would definitely visit this lovely guest house again.

A Very welcoming place to stay

Stayed for three nights and what a lovely stay it was, bedroom very clean and a lovely bed,bathroom spotless, breakfast was very nice, yes you have to order it the night before but dont see the problem with it has you just tick boxes what you want and you can say you want the same for rest of stay  Gill was very friendly made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be back 

Lovely place

The Holmlea is a spotlessly clean, welcoming guest house in an idyllic and excellent location. It is just a five minute walk from the lake, bars, restaurants and shops in Bowness. If I was to return to Bowness, I would definitely return to the Holmlea. 

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Jill who was extremely friendly, professional and welcoming. Payment was quick and easy and Jill kindly showed us to our room. We stayed in room 2, which was a spacious, cosy and pleasant room. The double bed was extremely comfortable - I had a great night’s sleep as the guest house is peaceful and no external noise was heard. Towels were provided along with complimentary bath/shower gels, and the en-suite was excellent. Our room was very clean and had plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. 

I thought it was a really nice touch to be able to pre order your breakfast the night before and choose exactly what you wanted. There was a good variety of cereals and hot breakfast. We opted for the hot breakfast, which was fresh and very tasty! Jill was the perfect host. Thank you for a lovely stay.
