The Haven is close to everything you might need in Windermere and just a short walk to Windermere Station (I took a taxi downhill to The Haven but walked my suitcase back to the station at the end of my stay). While many have warned that Windermere is not Bowness on Windermere, the twenty minute walk to and from the lake is pleasant and I had no trouble catching a bus back from the ferries.

My room had a comfy bed, a desk and a small table with chairs which overlooked the street. The clean and light bathroom had the easiest hot water / shower system I encountered on this trip (I seem to spend a lot of time puzzling over taps and hoses and buttons at most places I stay, so this was a relief). Warm weather meant the room stayed warm at night - probably good in winter and not a problem for this Australian. 

Catherine, the host, provided a lovely breakfast each morning (salmon and eggs, porridge for me) and gave good information and practical help to guests who asked. Thank you for a relaxing stay!

Easy Stay and Good Breakfast

Lovely room with everything we needed. Full English breakfast was top quality. Excellent location with pubs, restaurants and shops all within a few minutes walk. A warm and hospitable welcome. By God the bin collectors start early! Hope to return soon.

Highly recommended 

A very warm welcome by Catherine the host. The BNB was very clean, tidy and most comfortable and situated ideally to visit the shops, bars, restaurants and a nice walk to the lake.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious with good choice menu.

Perfect in every way

COVID took us back so much insofar as embracing the beautiful UK countryside. It was LOVELY to be back in Windermere and The Haven was a wonderful first BNB experience for our younger child. Catherine was a lovely, patient and kind host. She even packed us toasties for our long ride to the airport by 0630 hours when we checked out. Thank you Catherine. We will be back!

Finally… returning to a BnB

I had a lovely week staying at The Haven. Catherine was very helpful and made me feel at home. The room was everything you would want and warm and comfortable. The choices for breakfast were excellent with hot served to order and a good selection from the buffet for guests to help themselves. The location could not have been better. only a couple of minutes from Windermere High Street in a very quiet corner. Also, only 5 minutes` walk to the railway station and where you can also catch buses all over The Lake District. I would definitely stay here again.

First time I had visited Cumbria to see my son and the family for 3 years due to the virus.

The Haven is a wonderful place to stay while exploring the Lakes.  Catherine was the perfect host and her B&B is 
absolutely lovely.  Great breakfast, fresh tea/coffee, full English,  vegetarian option, cereals, yogurt, toast, fresh fruit. The Haven is spotlessly clean and our room was really nice with a very comfortable bed,  fluffy white towels and the building was warm and cosy!  Close to restaurants and bars and a nice downhill walk to the lake. We will definitely stay here when we next visit Windermere.

Brilliant B&B

Upon arrival we quickly realised that we hadn’t thought about parking as there were no cars in the two available car ports we parked outside so that we could just bring our heavy case in, Catherine asked us if we’d booked parking & we said unfortunately not, after a quick check she said it was no trouble as someone who’d booked parking was now arriving by train. We quickly freshened up & went to explore Windermere town which was all walkable with Windermere lake itself being about a 20mins or so walk away. After a fantastic nights sleep we had a hearty breakfast, the second morning I had a lovely fresh fruit salad and one of the best bacon sandwiches I had ever had, my husband & I asked about the bacon & sausage and they are sourced from a local farm, very tasty! Catherine is a perfect host with lots of local knowledge, we will definitely be returning if we ever go back to the lakes.

Lake Windermere

I would highly recommend this beautiful b&b, very nice and friendly, couldn't do enough for you, enjoyed my short stay immemsely, very clean throughout, plenty to chose from the breakfast menu, and coffee on tap, should you need another....definitely worth a visit, Catherine was lovely

Short stay

We stayed here as a family without 11 year old in June, my mum also had a room opposite us.  Firstly the location is outstanding you park your car in the allocated space and you can walk to all of the bars, restaurants and shops in Windermere.  We have stayed at a lot of B&B’s over the years all over the UK but I must say the breakfast here was outstanding, from how the table was set, to the quality of crockery used and of course the good itself you could tell was very good quality (no cheap sausages or bacon here!). 
The host was welcoming and our room was refreshed each day.
If you manage to get a room do not hesitate to book - it’s money well spent!

A Great Place To Stay

Perfect location, walking distance to many of the  restaurants, shops & pubs. 
Catherine & Mal were very welcoming & very friendly. Mal even moved his car from the drive, to accommodate our car.
The breakfast was exceptional & 1 of the best I've had, plenty of options to suit anyone, plenty of fresh fruit available. 
Our room was on the 2nd floor & was the family room, which consisted a double bed, single bed, with plenty of storage. The room was situated at the front, which gave us a lovely view, the room was spotless, I really liked the fact that we had dressing gowns & slippers (like the ones you get at a spa) & a proper hairdryer.
