Good quality accommodation. Full English provided. Friendly host. Free parking on road (with permit provided) across the street. If possible ask for a room at the rear or side of the property. Would be happy to stay again.

My daughter and I travelled from Canada to the UK for a month-long tour in June 2022. During our time in the Lake District, we stayed at Ashleigh House for two nights. At the time of booking, I had advised Dawn, the proprietor, that our train would get us into Windermere  a few hours earlier than normal check-in time, and she was kind enough to arrange for our room to be ready as soon as we arrived. The first thing we noticed was how spotlessly clean the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were. We appreciated little touches like the complimentary tea and coffee provided in the room. We slept really well on the very comfortable beds. The cooked breakfast was generously sized and delicious. The property’s location was perfect for us – just a couple of minutes’ walk from all the shops and restaurants in the centre of Windermere. We will absolutely stay at Ashleigh House again whenever we have the chance to return to the Lake District.

Excellent 2-night stay at Ashleigh House – highly recommended!

Good location. Access to the property is up some steep steps, and we stayed in room 5 at the top of quite a few more steps (2nd floor). Good exercise! It was a large, clean room with a very spacious shower room, and lovely views out the back. The shower was an electric shower, the water pressure was a little weak, but that may be typical of the area. The cubicle was a standard size, perfectly acceptable, but considering the size of the room, a missed opportunity for a larger one, we thought. Two of the sockets would not allow for a plug to be fully inserted; they stuck out enough for someone to touch a terminal when trying to pull it back out. We parked at the back of the property which is a tight squeeze as some have mentioned, just glad we had a small car (and I wasn't driving!) We didn't stop for breakfast. 

Good location, nice room

The hotel is a warm and welcoming place.  The room was very clean and simply yet tastefully decorated (it has had a refresh since some of the pics above were taken.)  Fantastic breakfast and very helpful owner.  Would recommend!

We stayed this Fri/Sat the host was friendly the place was clean but I think £90 a night without breakfast or shower soaps was overpriced. 

The area its self was very busy especially in restaurants all fully booked or queues outside them so I'd advise you to book before hand. Unlike us, after 9.30pm both nights we eventually got seated after hours of walking/calling around looking for a table for two.  I'm not sure if it's always as busy or an event was on.

Lovely base for the weekend

This place is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of Windermere. The room was clean and spacious. My host Dawn was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for me,accommodating all my dietary needs. I will definitely be returning. Thanks for a superb stay.

Great stay!

We stayed here last month as a little getaway. It was absolutely fantastic,  great breakfast, cosy room with a gorgeous view and a brilliant location in the heart of Windermere. Bowness was a lovely walk away. Dawn was a great host and offered lots of advice of things to do in the area. We will definitely be back hopefully very soon. Thank you again if it making us feel so welcome.

Fantastic

Our first night and breakfast was lovely. However the following day I was humiliated by the owner in the corridor where other guests may of overheard the conversation. Unaware that during the stay our room would be checked especially at the moment. Having stayed in a hotel and another b&b since the start of covid neither were checked during our stay for obvious reasons . 
Without going into to much detail about something that could of been dealt with more privately and without making me feel uncomfortable for the rest of our stay even after me saying how she made me feel . I would never stay there again or recommend anyone else too . Unfortunately this really did effect our time away in Windermere

Very disappointed

We had a lovely weekend at Ashleigh House, Windermere. The property is full of character, the room was extremely clean and tidy and the full English breakfast was delightful. We could walk to the shops and bars in Windermere within seconds and enjoyed an excellent meal out in the town. We will be back!...
