Lovely meal, served by friendly efficient staff. The restaurant was busy with Christmas parties but we were served in a timely manner and none of us could fault the food or the service. The pub was decorated very nicely too.

First, I would just like to say this review is based on the experience I had whilst staying at The Talbot Inn.
All I can say is that I had an absolutely fantastic stay. The room was spotlessly clean . The shower room had shower gel, ect, and was also spotlessly clean.
Tea and coffee facilities are available with some biscuits and 2 mint chocolates. This is replenished every day , bottled water is also supplied. If you would like fresh milk, this can also be provided .
All the staff are so friendly and accommodating ,the restaurant and bar area are spotlessly clean and the food was excellent . 
I would definitely stay here again without a doubt. 100% 

Fantastic stay at THE TALBOT INN

Fabulous evening meal here last week. We had not booked, but the waitress was very friendly, said they would fit us in, and showed us to a table immediately. The menu was fairly comprehensive and we chose fish and chips, and ham eggs and chips. The portion sizes are huge so if only a small eater, best to order the small version of each meal. Unfortunately we were so full that we could not manage a dessert on this occasion. (Another  good reason to return).
The tables were filling up quickly as we left and we could understand why this place is so popular. We will certainly return.

Friendly welcome and good food!

We booked the Talbot Inn as an overnight stay as we are walking the Thames Path from the Swinford Toll Bridge, don't worry its only 5p per car! The room was spacious and well appointed, as was the en-suite shower room. Nice and warm, close to the pub and car park. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We booked an evening meal, recommended, as the restaurant isn't huge. The portions were generous but they do offered smaller plates. Breakfast was of a high standard too.

Great place to stay by Thames Path

Pleasant hotel/inn close to Thames Path and Oxfordshire countryside. Warm, inviting pub with good food but slightly more expensive than some pub meals. Good breakfast and very comfortable, well furnished rooms. Thanks for a great stay. Recommended for walking breaks, exploring Oxfordshire countryside and close to Oxford too by car

The Talbot Is not due to re open with new tenants until 1st March 2023, with a couple who we know presently running a great pub that serves good food. So we cannot wait until they take it over and look forward to them taking over this new venture in a charming location

LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THE TROUT OPENS EARLY MARCH 2023

Called earlier in the week to check food was being served at lunch today for my daughters bday we walked there with a pushchair and a 3 yr old we ,arrived at 12.50  to be told we are not serving food anymore even though I was told it’s served till 2 ! Cheers for ruining our first outing out with the baby , be sure I’ll let people know !!!! Avoid as clearly not family friendly !

Lovely little pub with rooms in the country but the rooms need refreshing.  It was worrying to realise the room didn't lock. Rather a small double and ensuite.  The carpets in the common areas need replacing.  Lovely people and service but an English breakfast without marmalade? Not impressive. 

Oh dear,  needs attention. 

Best night's sleep I have had In a long while. Massive double bed,comfy,warm nice room. Very clean. Nice bathroom. Clean fresh towels.    Will  visit again for sure. Not a stuffy room either,very fresh. No disturbances.  Cosy little pub too, lovely people.


Ideal place to stay

We were stopping over for one night between the Midlands and London.  We booked The Talbot due to its quiet location and room rates. What an absolute find! The welcome was really friendly thanks to Paul and Emma at the bar and the room was lovely. We chose to eat in the Inn and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was genuinely fresh, home cooked and such a contrast to so much on offer elsewhere, with our fresh salads vegetarian options and real attention to detail. Chef Nick takes real pride in his meals and with the support of Kitchen Porter, Hannah, we had a truly relaxing evening in a lovely atmosphere. We would recommend The Talbot unreservedly.
