We visited here twice for a drink in the evening.  This is a very nice pub.  The building is full of atmosphere, there was a roaring fire, lots of regular locals enjoying a pint …everything you would like a local to be.  The staff were very welcoming and made a great fuss of our dog.  We would have loved the quiz night, but were not there on the Thursday! Good range of local and well kept beers.

Great local pub for a drink

On a recent visit to Woodstock we decided to have supper in the Star Inn.  They do not take bookings but we arrived around 7pm and found a table close to the fire.  The staff were friendly and helpful and our meal arrived promptly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.  We would definitely recommend.

The Star Inn is a lively pub in the centre of Woodstock.

Been here twice now in the space of two days, nice pub, clean and friendly.  Not the greatest gluten free choice, but the fish pie was wonderful and tasty.  My friend had the venison pie and said it was lovely, just a shame the veg was lukewarm.  Would definitely recommend and be back again soon!

All lunch meals were £10 and seemed to be cooked to order as there was a long wait to get the food!

My fish and chips was large and chips were good.  The batter was nice and crispy but rather oily.  A pity it had not been drained. 

Pease were an extra cost!

Good food but slow service 

Very helpful and considerate nothing  too much trouble quiet room hot water and en suit facilities were ok for very old hostelry short walk to palace on a nice day with lovely views excellent audio of  the palace

Visiting Blenheim Palace

Insipid and unsmiling if not surly service. Apparently soft drinks are served at room temperature with a couple of blocks of ice. When we asked we were reminded of this little known fact, I wasn't offered with any apology so perhaps the first 50 years of my life when soft drinks were served cold was a series of happy coincidences. 

The sign outside promised homemade food using fresh ingredients. Of the food we ordered, we struggled to find anything that appeared to be home made. We dutifully ate our oven chips wondering why the bar had been covered with empty used glasses and bottles for nearly an hour. 

The premises were rustic with oak beams. So some potential.

Avoid

This was a two night trip for my wife's birthday, it was lovely very quite,staff Very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and space's, and a very nice bathroom.

We would more than be happy to stay here, when we are in the area again, without a doubt, the food was very nice, the breakfast was not buffet, it was freshly cooked to a good standard.
The evening meal was very nice, (but my wife's chips where not to clever, the fat needed changing, the same fat was used to cook other items), other than that perfect.
The bed itself was very comfortable, I suffer with sleep apnea and insomnia, and one night I had a fantastic sleep, and for me it only happens once in a blue moon,

Not suitable if you have are disabled in the hotel section, due to tight winding stairs, parking is available, but only in certain areas.

Great

Second stay here and it’s a great place. Centrally located in the village, a skip to Blenheim Palace and a tasty breakfast. The rooms are very well decorated and my bed ensured a great night’s sleep. Checking was a little hap hazard but that is overlooked, so 5* it is!

We visited a lot of pubs on our honeymoon, pubs in London, pubs in Oxford and the Star when we went out to see Blenheim palace. They have always been excellent but this one takes the cake. It was everything a pub should be and the food was amazing, my wife and I stayed here a while just enjoying the food and the atmosphere before we sadly had to leave.

Stopped by for lunch and was very pleased.  Pleasant staff and good food.  I had the baked Camembert cheese with garlic bread.  Delicious!   The tomato basil soup was wonderful.  Really close to Blenheim Palace.  Also a neat place.
