Stayed here for 1 night should have been 2 but left the next day due to noisy fans 
Rude staff rude management rude housekeeping the last time we stayed we were looked after by a young blonde haired lady with glasses she was polite professional and just cheerful but i was told she has moved on such a shame 
Give the place a miss management are useless so are bar and kitchen staff nowhere to be seen 

Shocking wont be returning

We booked to stay here whilst visiting our daughter and thought we might have found a real diamond of a place to stay for 2 nights. 

On arrival we were put into room 7. We had booked a deluxe king room the thumbnail of which featured a four poster bed. We were a little disappointed to see a normal bed but it was comfortable enough. However we did not get a good nights sleep because of the noise created by a water tank in the roof constantly filling up randomly throughout the night. 

The room was rather tired to say the least and the bathroom was extremely disappointing due to black mould on the ceiling and a shower head that looked like it had never been cleaned (images included). 

On returning for our second night we found our room had not been serviced. Dirty glasses and cups left next to the kettle and again the Constant noise from the water tank. In frustration I tried to go and speak to someone downstairs at 10:30 but the whole place was locked up and nobody was present to deal with our issues. 

Another disappointment was to find that breakfast was only a continental buffet and not the usual cooked option. Not an issue if made clear when booking but this was not the case and yet another negative for the property. 

Given the excellent reviews from previous guests I can only assume that something has changed drastically quite recently as this experience does not meet any of the expectations we had after reading these reviews.

My advice would be to look elsewhere especially if you want a good nights sleep

Great little pub rooms were well equipped and warm staff were friendly and very helpful had a great night rest.

Dinner in the pub was very nice, and the portions size was large. Inside the pub was a nice atmosphere to boot.

Breakfast in the morning was nice cerals and pastries and very welcome, overall a great overnight stay.

Great B&B

A disappointing one night stay. Having booked a deluxe suite with a full English breakfast, on check in and having paid, we noticed a sign stating Only Buffet breakfast with immediate effect. On being shown the room, the far side of the bed was against the wall, a somewhat smaller room than anticipated. The shower was minute and the vent fan noisy. At this late stage perhaps we should have complained. But we learnt a valuable lesson, usually we stay in one or other of the big hotel chains where you know exactly what you are paying for. Next time its look see before payment.. 

A forgettable night stop. 

Stayed at this hotel for 1 evening, wanted to rate this small business higher however a few basic improvements could be made. Stayed in room number 5, no bedside tables or plug sockets, so wasn’t able to have a cup of tea in bed as no where to put it down and wasn’t able to plug my phone in overnight to charge as needed the phone to be near me in bed as it’s used as an alarm clock. Bathroom needs a shelve near the sink to put toiletries on, as basin is very small. Light in the bathroom doesn’t have a light string, so took me a while to find the light as i had to look up to see it. Dressing table had no chair. I appreciate this Is an old traditional hotel, however room/furniture could do with being updated or even just redecorated as walls had lots of marks over and just felt rundown. Room had a musky smell. 
Dinner was lovely, however service was a little strange. The gentleman who I think was the landlord was a man of few words. He looked after me during my whole stay (checked me in, dinner service, breakfast service and check out) however I don’t think he spoke more than 10 words to me. Wasn’t a friendly landlord which you normally get in small hotels. Had to go up to the bar to order food and drinks as no one was waiting tables. Drink glasses and cutlery were not very clean. Sadly I wouldn’t stay again. 

Disappointing stay

The food was good, the service less so. We had to go to the bar for drinks on each occasion. Staff never once asked if they could get us drinks. This situation led to a very serious overcharge on our bill. We were overcharged in the region of £50 which we had to to argue over to get it put right, we were not the only ones, another chap was arguing with the staff at the same time over the same problem. It took in the region of 25 minutes to get the bill corrected,   It seemed to us that everyone was going to bar ordering their drinks and the cost was being added to any table in the general area of the dinning room. It left us with the feeling that the evening had been spoilt,  I think it would prevent us going back again.

Evening spoilt,

My friends and I saw TWT on Facebook and decided to give it a try. It’s Caribbean menu drawn us in, and the steak night offer looked good too. Booking a table was easy, and the reserved personalised nameplates were a nice touch. 

We arrived through the side, or rear entrance, not knowing how to get to the front from the car park due to no signposting. Not an issue, just want to mention everything to give a balanced picture and hopefully improve the experience. We found the bar and ordered drinks. A fine selection of spirits abailable and a few draught beverages, including a personal favourite of mine, Orchard Pig Reveller - lovely! It was clear there was some chaos within the ranks, with staff asking each other where tables were and where to deliver drinks. Unsure why, could be due to many things such as staff sickness, new staff etc. what I will say though, is that all staff were lovely and friendly; this makes my 2 star review so hard to give! We were taken to our seats in a pretty dated restaurant. It was dimly lit in my opinion, and toilets not signposted well (if at all). 

Between three of us we had 1.5 menus, which wasn’t ideal but doable. When asked for our order we were then brought the steak special menu.. I will caveat this by saying the waitress was lovely and gave us time to read, but we knew what we wanted. Along with the whole night, it was disjointed - if the ‘disjointed’ bits were sorted, a 5 star review wouldn’t be far off. 

We ordered food and waited quite a while for it to arrive. Our meals were lovely and flavourful…. But nowhere near enough. I do t eat much when I go for meals, but this was still super light for me, two of our meals may well have been on the ‘tapas’ menu. I opted for curried goat, which was really nice, but on the bone and not much at all. All three of us had to go to McDonalds on the way home, which is so disappointing. 

Before the meals arrived we needed more drinks but no one checked on us, so we got up and went to the bar to get some. The guy behind the bar was friendly and accommodating, and put the drinks on our tabs. Once our meals were devoured we decided not to wait for anyone to come and ask for dessert etc (we only had one person come to us all evening, to take the food order) and went to the bar to settle up. Paying was pretty straight forward, and we were on our way to McDonald’s haha. 

I really want to finish this by saying it really is an unpolished, unfinished restaurant, that with a few tweaks could be one of the better ‘alternative’ pub/restaurants about. The staff were so lovely and busy, I genuinely want the best for them and want them to do well. Maybe a couple of dedicated waiting staff, a bit more food on the plate and some minor tweaks on the layout and they would be on to a winner.

Desperately wanted to rate higher, hoping the place will kick on, great foundations!

Table wasn’t ready at the time booked. Waited for food for 2 hours & was told they couldn’t make the platters after already waiting an hour. Would of rather had waited for McDonald’s for an hour. Disappointing food, wasn’t worth the wait. No apology for the food taking so long and no discount! Never returning!

Birthday Meal gone wrong

The owners make this place special - we booked last minute and so didn't eat there, but the vibe was great and breakfast was first rate.
Isse and his wife are so warm and welcoming.

Great family run pub/B&B

The hotel and rooms are charming, and the host are personable and friendly.

Unfortunately it doesn’t really cater for business travellers, as breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30.

As the hotel is in a rural location, this probably means that most business travellers would incur a long journey to ‘work’ which is likely to preclude them being able to have the included breakfast.
