booked on a booking site not with the hotel, put us in a 'small double' in the attic, one side of the bed was against the wall, no bedside cabinet so had to have all items on the floor next to the bed, bathroom was a good size and parking was brilliant, if we had been given a different room we would have stayed again.
Had dinner on the first night at the hotel, better than average pub! when we came to check out the wifi on the cordless machine didn't work so you either leave your card details or we paid in cash

Very easy to register  on arrival. Clean room and warm. Shower did not work to well . We stayed for 2 nights  was at rear of hotel so nice and quiet. Great breakfast and plenty of choice. 15 minute walk to shops also there is a bus stop about a 2 minute walk from front door. staff very friendly would stay again. 

Very good hotel

Shocked to have my first ever argument with a hotel manager to point I had to walk away. 
Breakfast wasn't served until 8 every morning (which I thought was already quite late as I was working) but on the first night I came down to breakfast at 10 past 8 to find others waiting in the lounge area - no one was around to serve food and no food was laid out to start breakfast. I waited for a couple of minutes but didn't think it was worth it so had to leave for work. 
When I brought this up - expecting an apology and part refund! - I kept getting told to speak to different people and when (on day 4) got to speak to the manager she said 'well you weren't supposed to get breakfast anyway so we made up for it on the other nights' - despite the fact my booking with Hotel.com clearly states I get breakfast. 
Just a very odd response from someone who clearly doesn't understand customer service. 

The other staff were polite and friendly but I would definitely not go back again or recommend it.

Rude and didn't get breakfast

Held my mums funeral here today, The venue was very warm & cosy, unlike some pub venues, So glad i picked here for the wake, from start to finish the staff were so lovely polite caring & compassionate. & the food was amazing,  i would highly reccomend..x

Friendly & Amazing

I was a little apprehensive about staying at the Beechwood after reading some reviews on here. But very glad I'm the kind of person to not read too much into negativity and make my mind up about a place.
We were greeted by a very nice girl on reception who showed us to our room. The room was clean and beds were extremely comfortable. We had 2 very good nights sleep. The housekeeping girls were very attentive. We didn't need them to come and make the beds but they made sure we had clean towels and plenty of teas, coffees etc for the room. We ate one night in the bar. It was great food, well made, well presented and well priced. The breakfast was also lovely. All staff we met made us feel very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. We will return. Thanks Beechwood we really enjoyed our stay.

Great stay

We were in York for a friend's wedding and we stayed at Beechwood for a night (Clifton Parish Church is just a short walk away). We checked in, went to the room to change, left, came back late, the next morning we had breakfast and left... so we didn't spend much time at the hotel, but I can say that the staff were really friendly, the room was comfortable (beautiful bathroom) and the hotel had its own parking.

Perfect choice for the location and a great breakfast!

We were already at this hotel in the summer of 2006. We are a family of 5 and sometimes finding accommodation can be difficult. We know that at Beechwood they can give us a family room plus a single side room, so for us it's ideal. The only problem is that sometimes the hotel hosts conferences or other events, which means that breakfast is served at the bar instead of the restaurant room and even finding a place in the parking lot can get complicated.
