 absolutely incredible hosts. From the moment you step in, they welcome you with open arms and a warm smile. They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need during your stay. Whether it's recommending local attractions, assisting with luggage, or providing excellent customer service, their hospitality is top-tier. You'll feel like a VIP throughout your entire stay. A memorable experience!

Bed was AMAZING, decor and furnishings are beautiful and it’s got a lovely boutique feel. I didn’t rate it the full 5 stars purely because on top of your stay the hotel charges you an extra £12.50-£15 to park. I thought that was quite steep to charge customers staying already at the hotel. Seems quite cheeky to me and not a cheap parking price either. Please review New Holgate if you can!

Almost 5 stars!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Gorgeous hotel, so tastefully decorated and attention to detail was amazing. Staff were so attentive, friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. all very clean everywhere. Breakfast was delicious, hot and good choice . Took our dog and he was very much welcomed by the staff and package was very thoughtful. Will definitely stay here again  .

Great 3 day stay at this newly refurbished boutique B&B. Jess and her staff very attentive and made our stay wonderful. Will go above and beyond to help. We stayed in the holgate suite which was very comfortable. Great to see sustainability being taken seriously. The facilities included a whisky lounge of which you can also order a range of cocktails. Tea and coffee available any time of day here. Tea and coffee in the room just ask for milk at reception. We would definitely be coming back to stay in the summer. Thank you to the whole team. Look forward to seeing the photos of the Christmas tree and returning next summer.

Fantastic stay

I visited New Holgate with my partner following the recent refurb and the decor was stunning. The room and bathroom were elegant, luxurious and stylish and both were absolutely spotless. Food and service was 5* and every need was taken care of. We both loved that all the produce is sourced from local businesses and they are clearly pay attention to the little details down to luxurious toiletries and tasty chocolates in the room. Looking forward to visiting again next time we are in the area!

Elegant rooms, 5* service

The initial reaction is not that great it seems a bit hit and miss. The rooms are not quite as per the pictures on line, however as the stay progresses you understand that the staff and levels of service are very good, excellent service and quality at breakfast and overall it is better that first impression

Gets better as you stay

The hallway smelt very musty, the stair carpet was very grubby. We got to our room and I could have cried. The carpet was badly stained, the net curtain had a tear in it, the window catch was broken meaning we couldn’t close the window completely. There was a lump of wood in  one of the drawers in the bedside cabinet. The bathroom ceiling had mould on it. The heating wasn’t on on the Sunday night/Monday morning, which meant it was chilly in the room. The bed was low and the mattress was hard and uncomfortable. I cannot find a good thing to say about this hotel. You couldn’t find any staff to complain to as the reception was unmanned

Don’t book here

We have just returned home after 2 nights here. Firstly the rooms were very grubby to the point of discusting. Stained carpet full of hairs. Stool badly stained. Unsightly plug hanging down the wall. Kettle beneath the tv meaning steam coming into contact with plug. The bathroom needs a full refurb. Rusty toilet roll holder. Broken shaving socket/vanity mirror. Supposed toiletries 2 mini shower gel sachets 1 mini shampoo. This was for 2 people for 2 nights. broken bath panel. Also when using washbasin the floor flooded. Only positives, clean bed, very pleasant staff, nice breakfast. 

Don't waste your money

We came with a guaranteed reservation of 3 nights by eDreams and, when we checked in, the guy at the reception told us very badly that they had cancelled our reservation since Expedia and that there was no room for us. As a favor, we left one that was only for the first night, the other two out. Obviously we bitterly complained and contacted eDreams, who assured us that our reservation had never been booked and ended up staying in another hotel.

Deception is the result of despair.

Stayed for 2 nights Fri - Sun with my 19yr old son. Was greeted at reception, and was very informative. Gave us a map and told us about it. Answered a few brief questions. Was on top floor, and alot of stairs, however, we don't mind this. Is dated, but clean and room 8 has a fab shower! Had to ask for toilet rolls, as there was none, and this rectified quickly although no one on reception for a good part of our stay but didn't particularly need it. Could here floor boards from next room, but other then that, and it is an old house, pretty quiet. Best part of the stay was def the breakfast. 10/10, and the girl serving couldn't do enough for you, although not enough tables if all guests want breakfast at the same time, but I didn't mind waiting. It was worth the wait. I would stay here again, although, wouldn't stay for more then a couple of nights, as TV signal not great due to it being an old house
