Our whole experience from booking right through to our last day was spot on!  Loved it. Breakfast was amazing too.
Highly reccomended and will definately be stopping here again (very soon we hope).

Fantastic!!

Enjoyed our weekend at the Hillcrest Guest House. Great location, only a short walk into the city. Staff was very friendly, food delicious. Bedroom clean, warm and very quiet bed was very comfortable.

Very clean and tidy

I am afraid to say we were expecting a little more. We chose this B&B family room that was a little more pricey so that we could truly enjoy our stay in York. Yes it was close to all of the attractions and the host was lovely and she attended to all our needs.She was the one big positive. I am not sure what the other rooms were like, but ours was pretty average. It was a top floor, windowless, airless room, with a tiny ensuite and no room to move. It was very basic. Certainly not a place to relax after a day out. We would not recommend.

Not what we expected

Just returned from a two night mini break to York. This was our first trip to York and we took ages deciding where to stay, the choice was endless! After much deliberation we decided to book the Hillcrest, and so glad we did. Well located only a short walk to the centre and attractions such as the train museum which was absolutely fantastic. The addition of private parking at the Hillcrest was a huge bonus, so no worries about where we could leave our car. The owner Lena was lovely, very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked, good choice and very tasty!
IUnfortunately this is Lena and her husbands last season which we were sorry to hear.Fully understand the pressures encountered running a B&B and you now wanting a 'normal' life again! All the best to you both in your future ventures. 


Lovely mini break.

Absolutely loved staying here, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Lena is so bubbly and happy all the time, very informative about places to visit & things to do in & around York.She cooks an amazing breakfast. The room we stayed in was cleaned everyday with fresh towels, absolutely spotless. it's ideally situated 10 mins from the centre of York and 10 mins from the races. All in all will definitely be staying again. 

Honeymoon 

a very nice place and Lena is so kind and provided us a lot of useful informations about visiting, eating, everything! very nice rooms and fast wi-fi! The place is 15 minutes walk from the station and York Minster, very quiet and clean. Very good breakfast too!

We recently stayed at this hotel. We had a very good time. We appreciated the kindness, kindness and willingness of the owner. The room was very clean. Great English breakfast. The hotel is in a great position for the proximity to the historic centre. If we ever come back to York, we will definitely try to book this Bed & Breakfast again.

Good experience

For four days the Hillcrest was our home in York and we would come back anytime. The room was relatively small but clean, as was the bathroom. Ian, Lena and all the other staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was rich. We liked the location very well, a nice neighborhood with its own shops, a great park and the Ouse River nearby - yet only 10 minutes to the center.

Nice B&B on Bishy Road

For a visit to York, we would always recommend the Hillcrest Guest House. We were warmly received (the host is German), the rooms are comfortable and clean. You can walk to the city centre. We had a room out on the street, but here too we could sleep comfortably. The breakfast was very tasty and rich. We are happy to come back!
