myself and my partner stayed here for a couple of nights in November,it was really handy for the City as it was only a 10 min walk,the hotel itself was clean tidy and staff were friendly, breakfast was great and the rooms were clean and tidy, well worth a visit

We arrived on word of mouth.We were so unhappy with the room.It was not what was advertised..It was situated off the foyer next to a toilet.It just about fit the bed in.The bathroom was dated and mingy.I have pics to prove my words...If you stay dont stay in room 9.

Room 9

I cannot understand the glowing reviews of this property.  Although we had booked, and were going to be charged for, a luxury room, the room we were allocated (room 11) was anything but.  At first glance the room appeared ok.  However on closer inspection the window frames were rotting, the paintwork around the door was very scuffed and there was peeling paint on the walls.  But the bathroom was even worse - badly peeling paint and damp patches on the walls, and 3 lights not working.  As there was no natural light, this made it difficult for shaving and make-up.  Hardly luxury.  When we decided to complain (at about 5.30 pm), we discovered that the staff had left and no-one was manning the property.  The next morning, after complaining, we were moved to room no. 2 which was an improvement, but still did not live up to its luxury billing.  The four poster bed and 2 armchairs looked ok, but the carpet was grubby, there was a knob missing on a drawer, again there were lights missing in the bathroom, and part of the discoloured seal around the shower screen over the bath was hanging off.   For the price being charged, I would have expected some biscuits on the tea tray, but there were none.  Breakfast was mediocre at best -  I don't understand where the silver award for breakfast came from.   The overall impression we had of this property was one of neglect.  It is in need of some serious maintenance and attention to detail. Such a pity because it is a lovely building with great potential.  This was our first visit to York and, although we loved the city itself, the visit was marred by our disappointing and very overpriced accommodation.

So disappointing

My husband and I stayed on 14th and 15th November 2014 and it was lovely.  We arrived quite late on the evening on the first night and I was greeted by a very friendly lady who explained everything from the fob for the door to the breakfast times.  The room we stayed in was very spacious and beautifully decorated.  It had a four poster bed (I have always wanted to sleep in one of these), a stand alone bath in the bedroom (the first thing I used when I entered the room) and the en-suite was also very spacious with the room being stocked up with tea, coffee and hot chocolate.  We slept very well in this room and loved chilling out in the evening in this room after walking round York all day.  The breakfasts were well presented and delicious, filling us up nicely for the day ahead.  All the hotel staff were also very pleasant, helpful and friendly.  It was well worth the price and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

just back from york , had a lovely stay at the holme lea manor ,, room was excellent as was breakfast and the staff could'nt have been nicer ,,,,,,,we had room number 4 with a four poster bed and a bath in the room ,,also good sized shower room ,,,,,nice chairs to watch a good sized tv and tea , coffee , hot chocolate ,,,,,would stay here again ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
