Stayed for 3 nights. You get what you pay for. It’s nice to just feel the freedom and to not be bugged during your stay. It is outdated but it’s comfortable so it didn’t bother me. Still got a tv and everything you may need. The distance to the centre is walkable but we did get a taxi a few times as after walking around the centre it can feel quite a long walk. I would also say it’s too long for children to walk it but a lovely walk for adults.

A comfortable and enjoyable stay

I did not think that time travel was actually possible until I opened the bedroom door and was transported back to 1973 !!  In fact, that is probably the last time the hotel has seen any form of maintenance as well.

Blocked drain on the shower (if you can call it a shower!) was among the many things that creeped me out.  

Just avoid the place, plain and simply

Just don't do it.......

We stayed at Moorland house for 2 nights 23-25 July 2021.  It was clean, well equipped and the perfect location.  centrally located between the city centre and the race course.. each were no more than a 20 minute walk away.   Gordon was really helpful and couldn't do enough for us.   Would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be staying here again.

great location and a great stay

Very easy to find room only Hotel.
Very clean + tidy free WiFi , Parking 
25 minutes walking to city Center and all to see, or bus stops right outside accommodation into York or the Shopping outlet , I found this hotel on trip advisor and I was not disappointed. I for 1 would deffo recommend this Room only Hotel

Family trip

Booked the YO10 on booking.com then looked for it on here but it turned out to be the Moorland House Hotel. It looks like it is now being run by different management now and called another name.
Good points -
Clean rooms 
We had a double room and it was very large 
Warm 
Free off road parking
All the usual stuff, tea - coffee making, TV Toiletries
Even though you are 50 yards from the A19 there is no road noise at all
Short walk from the center of York 
Bad points (only one)
The sound proofing in the hotel could be better, although in the same breath there are no stag – hen party’s allowed
To sum up –
The photos on trip advisor are very out of date I would say the hotel has been spruced up this year our room was nothing like them 
There is no breakfast here but that’s no problem as it is close to 4 or 5 good cafes 
It is quicker to walk into town via the river 
Bus stop very close to hotel if you need it 
Would I stop again –yes
Would I recommend it yes if you are using it as a base like we did

now called YO10

No one there on arrival  it is assumed everyone has a mobile phone to call for the code to get in. no sink plug,loose shelf next to the sink ,more care needed with finer details.plenty of Tea , coffee and biscuits. Breakfast poor quality with hot drinks made from water from an urn.

three night stay

We stayed for one night and found it to be comfortable and very clean. Our room was room 6 which was big and spacious with shower/bathroom and on the first floor. Gordon was very helpful and friendly and didn't have a problem with our little dog. Breakfast was continental but plentiful, we had lots of crumpets and jammy toast. The only thing I would advise is to take earplugs as the walls are quite thin so we could hear other rooms talking and snoring all night but there is nothing Moorland House can do about that! We enjoyed the place and the service and it was also easy to walk to from central York as it's just one long road.

Clean and spacious 

We stayed here recently, 3rd -6th Sept and couldn't really fault it, room was very clean and provided us with all we required, breakfast continental style had a wide variety of choices and the owner was very helpful, friendly and obliging, off road parking also was a real bonus. Nice walk into York by crossing the main road and walking down a side street to the river and strolling along the riverside path which takes about 20 minutes. Would be very happy to stay here again

Very pleasant stay

Stayed for one night to explore York with my family. We were met on arrival by the friendly and helpful owner Gordon. We were allocated room 8 upstairs which is a large family room which more than met our requirements. The room itself was clean and tidy with ample tea/coffee making facilities available as well as toiletries supplied in the bathroom. Breakfast is continental and although I would have enjoyed a cooked breakfast the choices on offer were very good ie. Cereal, toast, crumpets (Crumpets!great choice!) Croissants and yoghurt as well as tea and coffee. Overall our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, the owner was very helpful and made us all feel welcome I would be happy to stay again.

Clean and tidy all you need in a B and B

It's a small, but not too big, house with a parking lot. The rooms are large, clean and very well equipped. It's comfortable and the bedding is of good quality. The bathroom is of suitable size and well equipped. There's also a small garden. There's no cooking breakfast but a varied and satisfying continental formula.
