Another great stay in York. We stayed with William and Jane a number of years ago now, and we were delighted that they were still there and as welcoming as ever. 
We stayed in the family room which is really spacious    The off road parking is fantastic when you are so close to the city. 
Can’t wait for our next trip over the hills!

Great little place to stay

Booked this accommodation on a last minute business trip to York, travelling alone. 
Easy to find on edge of city centre and very close to Minster. 
Parking was provided, which is very useful. 
Room was small, as advertised, but comfortable and very clean and well presented. 
The owner welcomed me warmly and assisted with parking and access instructions. 
Breakfast was served by owner and was freshly cooked, full English - very good. 
Had to ask for invoice which was provided from a hand written numbered receipt book. Not vat registered if that matters to you. 
Overall, perfectly positioned, parking, comfortable and great breakfast. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced.

After a day of touristing if you wanted to relax with the tv or wi-fi they didn't work. Poor reception on the tv made it impossible to watch and wi-fi was poor at best
Breakfast had to be eaten between 8-8.30. Food was very average
Check-in had to be between 4-6pm

Visited here after 4 years and must say the hosts where just as welcoming.Found it was smaller than our last visit due to the hosts getting ready to retire so downsizing.
Room was nice and clean and quiet,breakfast was good,location was great.Added bonus is the off street parking a little tight but secure.

Good hosts.

We are not too good at walking far now and the Monkgate Guest house was so handy for getting into the city centre etc. Our hosts were lovely as was our room and our wonderful breakfasts. Due to illness we hadn't been away for some time and we couldn't have chosen a nicer place. All the awards they have won are certainly well deserved. On the morning of Sunday 11th November we came down to find poppies on the breakfast tables, a lovely touch, and  great attention to detail. Thank you lest we forget.

Came for remembrance day my father in law was a York man and was killed going to Dunkirk.

This was a lovely guest house within walking distance of York City Centre. It was clean and very comfortable and provided en-suite, tea making facilities, hairdryer, tv. and off street parking. The hosts William and Jane were warm, welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Wedding Anniversary

Lovely little bed and breakfast just outside the city walls at the back of York minister. Very helpful hosts with a excellent home cooked breakfast. Very quiet at night so had no problems sleeping, would definitely go back.

Birthday 

This superbly situated guest house is a few minutes walk from the charming streets of York. It is spotlessly clean, comfortable and offers a wonderful breakfast.The owners are more than helpful and happy to offer suggestions for places to visit and eat. I can thoroughly recommend this establishment and look forward to another visit.

Great value for money

A few hundred meters from the city walls, ideal for those who have a car, as there is an indoor car park, but also on foot, as it takes 3 minutes to reach the monk gate.

It's all right.

This is a nice B&B, a little dusty but lovingly decorated. Mr and Mrs were both very friendly and helpful, so there was a very pleasant, personal atmosphere. The location of the house is fantastic, the heart of York City is almost right at the door.
