The Classic Desert Aire Hotel

What was good

The room appeared to be clean.

What was bad

The first thing the desk clerk said to me was an off-color joke about how I would be charged if I had "hookers" in my room. (I am an older, single woman.) I had called the motel the previous day to make sure I wasn't given a room by an ice machine. Guess where my room was? They moved me to another room. The bed was as hard as a rock and the springs squeaked every time I moved. In the dead of winter, they provided only a very thin blanket and a thin, scratchy bedspread. They provide meal vouchers for breakfast, but you can't call in your order. You have to sit on a bench outside the kitchen to wait for your food. The restaurant had only one waitress who was totally overwhelmed. People were waiting an hour for breakfast. On the last day of my stay, they blocked all the parking spaces by my room because of the solar panels they planned to install that afternoon. In my opinion, the most important thing about a hotel/motel is the bed. My bed was a miserable nightmare with the squeaking, scratchy bedclothes, and rock-like quality.
