MARK is the son of the owner. MARK told me that he owns the property. To my knowledge, MARK does not own the property, his mother Nancy does. MARK accused me of an extremely elaborate plot to not comply with an invisible policy regarding our dog. We paid the extra ten dollars each night to have our dog stay with us. NO ONE told us that we could not leave him CRATED in the room alone. MARK accused me of hiding my name at reservation time on August 12. I told the employee who took the reservation that I had stayed previously since 1997 under my full legal name, and he looked me up and saw my history of many stays over the years. Their pet policy has not list of rules. MARK had expected me to know about the don't leave our dog unattended rule from a previous stay many years ago. MARK also told me that I used the hair dryer too much. I booked room 134, which is right around the corner from the front desk. If I had bad intentions to over use the hair dryer, or to break a pet policy, I feel that I would have gotten a room as far away from the front desk as I could. Our room was about 30 steps away. I have been kicked out for life now. That is just fine with me, but the way that MARK handled the matter is what is distressing. I checked in on September 26, and checked out on October 4. No one said one word to me for nine days. I was mostly in the room with our pet, but occasionally did leave him. i feel that the owner of this property, NANCY, should get on a word processor and type out the TERMS AND CONDITIONS of their pet policy. We left our room immaculate. Our pet was crated in our absence. I  would also like to mention that MARK or someone billed our credit card twice for $1079.76, and denied the double billing. Huntington Bank clearly stated that it was a double billing. My husband and I keep ourselves very small and under the radar. After I checked out this morning, MARK pounced on me and told me that i was to never stay at the Alpena Reosrts again, and began accusing me of willfully engaging in the activity of leaving our pet alone. I told him okay, no problem that I am on the list of people they won't rent a room to, but i denied right down the line what I will consider his crazy perceptions that are false. i told him that my brother-in-law would have gladly kept our dog at his house. I have to watch this double billing, which could have caused bounced checks to my bank account. I believe that MARK needs to take some courses at the Community College in HOSPITALITY, his human skills are very bad, and he has quite the temper and quite the imagination, and not afraid to falsely accuse. 

VERY HORRIFIC

We recently stayed here for four nights. We’d stayed here before when it was Best Western. Room was clean. Bathroom was spotless. The room could use a new mattress. It was very soft and lumpy. Breakfast was the only real disappointment. It just consisted of English muffins and bagels. Even some cereal would have been nice. Not at all what was listed in the travel handbook which was Belgian waffles, sausage, gravy and biscuits. We would stay here again but please at least get some cereal!

Improve breakfast.

We were very happy with this inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very clean and nicely renovated. The rooms were super clean and also nicely renovated. We were only here for one night as we were going through town but would have enjoyed staying longer. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in need of a place to stay in Alpena. 

Great experience

This was the worst “hotel” experience we have ever had. There is massive construction going on in the hallways and no mention on the website or at the front desk at check in. We had a rare night out without kids and made the most of it and were looking forward to sleeping in and instead we were woken up by sawing, drilling, hammering etc. right on the other side of our hotel room. Had we been advised at check in we would have left for another hotel. I went to speak with Wendy at the front counter and she laughed and said they just started today and they’d been waiting 2 years for this construction. I asked why we weren’t advised and she said they just found out they were coming the night before. So tell them the rooms are rented and that won’t work!! The hallway was a complete mess, construction material everywhere - not safe at all. We were unable to sleep (or hear ourselves think) with all the noise, so we’re showering to leave and while my husband was in the shower a worker put and nail through a wire and the power went out in the bathroom. I went to speak with Wendy about a refund and she offered me $10 off. I said that was not acceptable and she got the owner from the back who was incredibly rude to me. I explained we paid for a good nights sleep and he said that’s what we got. I said not even close. He offered the same $10 for the “inconvenience” of the screw going through the wire. I told him to keep it. Do not stay here. Zero customer service. Zero care about the quality of your stay. So rude. 

Worst hotel stay and customer service I’ve ever experienced

Awful management. Rude and mean! They accused me of having my kids swim in the pool when I was by my self and always had been. They yelled at me and thew me out of the facility. They did it even check cameras to make sure or listen to me at all. No one should stay there. They have too many rules and are nasty to their customers!

The management and owners were so rude and mean I will never stay there again!

This is a great resort! It is not advertised on Hotel.com but worth it to stay here. We had a king room. The rooms are updated and very comfortable beds and pillows. Bathroom is clean and great shower pressure. The rooms get cleaned everyday which is not the norm anymore! I stay at the hotel  across the street a month ago and not even close to comparison. Looking forward to staying here again!

Great resort…give it a try! 

Excellent place to stay. Clean, comfortable rooms at a Great price. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was included. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Visiting the parents

Pleasantly surprised on how nice the rooms are.   It was modern with updated fixtures and very clean.  The staff was courteous.  No breakfast due to staffing shortages, but there was fresh coffee and juices available.  The price was also very reasonable (90 per night).  This will be our place to stay when we visit Alpena.

Clean, updated and reasonable.

What a pleasant surprise. We needed a pet friendly hotel in n Alpena for 3 nights. This was perfect. Everything was clean and new. We didn’t get breakfast but that was ok. For the price this was a great value. Many restaurants and stores nearby, within walking distance. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Pleasantly Surprised

Our room was roomy enough for 2 adults, 3 teenagers. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. Eric at the front desk was especially welcoming and friendly, gave the impression he really cares about the place. Gazebo, grills, and backyard games were the best—gave us a relaxing evening to “eat in” and play around together outside.  We would definitely come here again.
