This place is the slummiest place... there was a guy sitting outside watching the "parking lot". It was nasty, and beyond disgusting. Nothing about this place looked like the pictures online... RUN!!
We chose to sleep in our car rather than stay there.

Run away from this place.

This place is worse than when I stayed here 10 years ago. I had hoped it might have improved. I was very wrong. Lobby and hallways are filthy and need vacuumed. The night manager's boyfriend was burning incense in the lobby stinking the whole place up. Tried to charge me extra for a bathroom when that's the room they put me in. Run don't walk away from this place. Don't even think about staying here.

Run away as fast as you can.

Should be an option for no stars. I had a reservation for June 7th to the 10th 2024 and was asked to leave on June 9th. On the 8th somebody had obviously been in my room cause the latch on the inside of the room was latched so that I couldn't get in my room and they had to cut it with bolt cutters to get access to the room. Thank goodness nothing of value was in the room. Place is very unclean and looks like a homeless shelter or brothel. Don't even try sleeping cause it's arguing and loud music all night

Worst place to stay in anchorage 

I'll be honest this place is pretty weird.  Pretty much a transient hotel.  You can only get in if someone buzzes you through the locked door.  Lots of drunks hanging around outside after dark.  No towels provided in a very spartan room, no air conditioning, and the pillows and walls are dirty and marked up.  The only good thing about this place is that the locks on the door are sturdy, and the prices are not terrible.  

If you are desperate, you could do worse.  

We stayed in town for one night before our cruise. Most other hotels in the area were over $200. We got the Chelsea for $99. I read some bad reviews but thought how bad could it be for one night? Man was I wrong!!
The bedding had mascara stains on the pillow and cigarette burns on the sheets & comforter. The floor was stained with who knows what. Bathroom not painted on several areas. No central ac, but a fan with car air fresheners hanging from it was provided. The windows open (& don't lock!) but we were on middle floor, high enough where I don't think anyone would be able to get in. Overall just felt ick. No blackout curtains and it doesn't get dark until midnight. And someone is always hammering something. Seriously contemplated going back to the airport and sleeping in the terminal. We didn't see any evidence of bed bugs, but I sure was itchy the moment we walked in the door.
My son said he found a YouTube review about this being the worst hotel ever. 
We booked on a third party app and it stated that they had airport and rail transportation. It was honestly the reason I chose this cheap place over another. But alas, they don't! Spring for the expensive rooms in town! 

You get what you pay for (& yes it's really that bad!)

While parking, I noticed a woman going through what looked like drug withdrawals at the front and another rummaging through the trash in the back. Too bad I can't upload the video of the woman rocking back and forth, sitting directly in front of the front door. Nonetheless, I got my bags out of the car and tried to get into the building, but the woman was blocking the way and started mumbling at me. The door was locked, so I tried to take another entrance that was also locked. There were signs saying that they take NO responsibility for car theft or vandalism. Thats when my instincts kicked in to GTFO of there.

My instincts told me to GTFO upon arrival

We had our hotel in downtown cancel us because their cleaners didn’t arrive. Stranded at the airport at midnight with every hotel we called in the city booked. We got to the Chelsea and they had a room. Front desk attendant helped get out bags into the building. Very nice guy, he even warned us that the area was not very nice and encouraged us to move on the next day. 

The accommodations are dated, it is a rough place but the staff is very helpful and put us in the safest room that he had. Very close to the front desk which is attended 24/7. I would recommend if your in a pinch and need a room, I have stayed at worst places (in my 20s). I felt plenty safe in the room. Outside the room, well… it’s in a rough neighborhood. If you have a firearm, Alaska is a firearm friendly state. If you are intentionally staying here it’s not a bad idea to have the added comfort considering the neighborhood. 

Overall, I rated very high because the staff was amazing. The accommodations are rough mostly because of the people that frequent the surrounding area. The establishment can’t help that and a bed is many times better than sleeping on an airport chair.

Amazing staff

The entire facility felt dirty. The room was was seemingly clean yet dingy. The TV was setting on a shelf, leaning against it's one time mount and had a crack down the right side of the picture. The carpet was threadbare. The windows didn't latch properly and the traffic noise was constant.

I have never been so terrified entering an establishment in my life!
From the disgusting cracked out prostitute's out the front to the weird old men asking if a had a bottle opener I was then told by a lady passing by on the street that I was not safe at this place and if I was ok or needed help. My Uber driver who picked me up then proceeded to tell me that he was surprised I didn't get shot or worse. This is known as the worst place in the area. They also charged me $99 instead of the advertised rate online and when I called to request a refund I was told by some dropkick on the phone that the manager wouldn't be in for 4 days so call back then - no online contactable information provided.

I left the 'hotel' after an hour of being there!

scariest experience of my life

Not a bad place, not great either.  The noise is quite loud and there is no elevator.    If you want an inexpensive place to stay however it will suffice  for the night.  I would not spend a week here however.
